On the Beach with CASology

Week 214 - Beach It's Tuesday and and time for a new cue word over at CASology!  We're going for warm and sunny this week!  September has arrived here in North America and I think we're all trying to silence the thought of winter's upcoming arrival.  The only thing between us and it now is autumn. I immediately thought of vacation.  Many people visit the beach, if possible, when choosing a vacation location.  There's nothing like sitting in the warm sun, digging in the sand and dipping your toes in the water as waves come crashing to shore! 2016 Sept6 BEACH WM I found my Simon Says Stamp OLD SCHOOL SUNGLASSES Wafer Dies and die cut the fun sunglasses out of some decorative paper from Clique Kit's Rio Kit.  I filled in the lenses with black glitter paper.  The main panel is die cut with Mama Elephant FEMME FRAMES Creative Cuts Steel Dies and popped up with foam dots.  Sunglasses and the beach just seemed to go together in my mind!  The sentiment is from Paper Trey Ink's Flipping Out set. I hope you’ll stop by and leave the rest of the design team and this week’s guest designer a little blog love this week!  They create such awesome inspiration each week for the CASology challenges! Muse Challenge #181

It's been a while since I've played along over at the Muse Challenge, but Sarah Platt's card is a beautiful one this week and inspired me to make a similar design! Here is Sarah's card: This is what I came up with, keeping colors and layout very similar, but changing the main image and sentiments. 2016 Aug30 MuseChallenge WM I'm a camera nut, so couldn't resist going with a photography theme using Altenew's Say Cheese set along with their Halftone Smile set!  I have quite the stash of washi tape, so it was simple to find two designs for the lower border of the card in the colors Sarah used on her card!  I love chevron and anything photography themed, so was happy to use these two tapes! If you haven't played along over at the Muse Challenge, go ahead and give it a try this week!  Sarah's card is such an inspiration with its pretty colors and terrific layout!Continue Reading...

CASology STITCHes

Week 213 - Stitch It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word over at CASology! My brainstorming started with exercise in mind, knowing I'm going to have to work through a few side stitches when I finally get serious about running regularly again this fall!  My mind continued on to think about the holidays and all the comfort food that will soon be appearing on our plates as cooler days begin to make their way into our lives again.  With Your Next Stamp as our sponsor this week, I just had to use this adorable penguin! 2016 Aug30 STITCH WM DH and I are always responsible for baking the pies over the holidays and this little penguin (Waddles - Sweetie Pie set) just makes me smile as he's doing a happy dance and juggling those fresh baked pies!  Wonder if he's getting side stitches??  Just in case my train of thought was too far fetched, I used a stitched frame die to dress up my design a bit.  The inside simply says, "Happy Thanksgiving!" I used the coordinating dies to cut out the penguin and pies, coloring each image with Copic markers.  I added a little sparkle to the adorable little guy using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker. I hope you’ll stop by and leave the rest of the design team and this week’s guest designer a little blog love this week!  They create such awesome inspiration each week for the CASology challenges! CASology FUN

Week 212 - Fun It’s Tuesday and time for a  new cue word over at CASology.  I personally can't wait to see what shows up in the challenge gallery! I figure smiles are typically a big part of anyone's fun, so I grabbed some Spellbinders emoticon dies I have in my stash and whipped up a clean and simple design. 2016 Aug23 FUN WM I used a trio of smiley faces with varying expressions, popping them up with foam dots.  I added a sentiment (Waffle Flower) in a simple font and called it good.  Super simple and I think it's super happy!  Who doesn't like a bright yellow smiley face?! I hope you’ll stop by and leave the rest of the design team and this week’s guest designer a little blog love this week!  They create such awesome inspiration each week for the CASology challenges! Clique Kits Leigh Ann Odynski Kim Oedekoven Lisa Elton Candace Perkins Melissa Chipperfield  (You are here!) Sandra Gonzalez Judy Marino Deidre Payne Marcia Dehn-Nix Sue Lelli Precious Remembrance Shop

I created three clean & simple cards using elements from the awesome August Rio Kit and the Totally Stamp set! 2016 Aug19 CliqueKitsHop HeartTag WM Don't you love the gold accent on the little heart tag?!  So cute!  The main panel is a pre-cut piece of decorative paper from the August Rio Kit!  I added the little heart tag and gold, die cut stars (also from the kit), stamping the little "YOU" (Totally stamp set), and then popped up the assembled main panel with foam dots for a little more dimension. 2016 Aug19 CliqueKitsHop Bowtie WM   Gold polka dots?  Yes, please!  There are multiple die cut cut bow ties in the August Rio kit, so I layered several of them and then popped up the assembled bow tie with foam dots on a stitched die cut panel.  I stamped the fun fill-in-the-blank sentiment below the bow tie and added "fabulous" in my own handwriting. 2016 Aug19 CliqueKitsHop Citrus WM Citrus always makes me smile!  The center panel is actually a premade scrapbooking card with the orange already printed on it!  Talk about easy card making!  I simply stamped the "totally" on top of the orange and then stamped the smaller "YES/NO". There is so much included in the August Rio Kit that a crafter can use for both scrapbooking and cardmaking!  Paired with the Totally stamp set, this duo is destined for crafty greatness! Next on the hop is Sandra's blog!  Hop along now and continue commenting for your chance to win!  Winners will be chosen randomly from comments left on all the blogs in the hop.

Have a fabulous Friday!

DREAMing of CASology

Week 211 - Dream It's Tuesday and time for a  new cue word over at CASology.  This week, we're focusing on dreams!  Don't worry, we're only asking for those that interpret into clean and simple design! I used the Trendy Butterflies stamp set from STAMPlorations, our wonderful sponsor this week to create a super simple diagonal design! 2016 Aug16 DREAM WM I stamped a diagonal line of five (an odd number) yellow butterflies to create a little movement and interest for the eye.  The two piece sentiment was added in black.  A trio of small, clear sequins was added as simple embellishments.  I used a clear Wink of Stella brush marker to add a little sparkle to the butterflies.  To me dreams and passion go together and that's where I went with my interpretation! I hope you'll stop by and leave the rest of the design team and this week's guest designer a little blog love this week!  They create such awesome inspiration each week for the CASology challenges! Dizzy with CASology

Week 210 - Dizzy

It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  I don't know about other parents, but my head begins to spin about now as summer begins to wind down and preparations for the upcoming school year begin!  I'm slowly checking things off the to do list, but there is still plenty to do yet!  Registration is done.  Clothes shopping is done.  School supplies shopping is up next.  What about you? I had some older stamps and dies in my stash from Uniko Studio, our sponsor, that I used to create my design this week.  I've noticed this summer just how tricky it is to follow a butterfly when it's in flight!  Makes one a bit dizzy if trying to keep up!  Thus, the reason for the image I chose, a die cut butterfly! 2016 Aug9 DIZZY WM I stenciled the background and spritzed it with both white and gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine sprays.  Once dry, I stamped the sentiment.  The butterfly was die cut from white cardstock and popped up with a tiny piece of a foam dot.  The gold gemstone was added as a solitary embellishment.  Simple as ever! Be sure and take some time to go leave some blog love on the rest of the design team members' blogs and the guest designer's blog!  They put a lot of time and effort in each week to create the wonderful inspiration you see! 52a13-dt2bbadge

CASology Watercolor

Week 209 - Watercolor It's Tuesday and time for a new CASology cue word!  Watercoloring seems to have taken over the crafting world, so why not see what we can do with it in the clean & simple design department?! 2016 Aug2 WATERCOLOR WM I chose to keep things super simple by using a ready-made watercolor paper.  Totally mess free!  Is that considered cheating?  I simply die cut two different sized balloons using the Memory Box PINPOINT BALLOONS POPPY STAMPS Craft Die 1604 & layered them.  The sentiment is from the Altenew HALFTONE SMILE Clear Stamp Set .  The large sentiment was stamped twice, once in an orange/yellow combination and then in black.  The balloon string is hand drawn.  The main panel is framed with the Mama Elephant FEMME FRAMES Creative Cuts Steel Dies. I hope you'll take a little time to visit the rest of the design team members' blogs as well as this week's guest designer's blog!  They've created some fantastic watercolor inspiration and would love to hear from you! 52a13-dt2bbadge

CASology JOURNEY

Week 208 - Journey It's Tuesday and time for a brand new CASology cue word!  We're traveling around a bit this week as we continue our clean & simple journey!  I chose to use stamps from Rubber Dance Stamps, our sponsor. 2016 July26 JOURNEY WM Oddly enough, The Flight of the Bumblebee came to mind when I first saw the cue word!  That served as my inspiration.  The bee was stamped and fussy cut before being colored with Copic markers.  Crystal Effects was added to the wings and a little sparkle was added to the bee's body using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  I used a honeycomb die cut on top of the card base to create a little texture without taking over the white space.  The we was then popped up on the design with foam dots.  The sentiment (from the Artist Plate stamp set) was stamped and cut out using a banner die and popped up with foam dots. I hope you'll take a little time to leave the rest of the design team and this week's guest designer a little blog love!
