CASology Congrats

Tuesday.  The third day of the week and Monday's cushion.  That's how it feels to me, anyway.  Monday gets all the glory, but Tuesday picks up the slack! Week 203 - Congratulations CASology has a brand new cue word up and running and it's a festive one!  I think this week's cue word can apply to so many of life's occasions and I'm betting there will be a nice variety of cards in the gallery this week! 2016 June21 CONGRATULATIONS WM I used STAMPlorations' Balloons and Banners set to stamp the balloon bouquet, masking the balloons.  The balloons were then colored with Copic markers and sparkly polka dots were added using a Copic blender pen & a clear Wink of Stella marker brush.  The main panel was adhered to a black panel and then popped up with foam dots to add a little dimension. Be sure and take some time to visit the rest of the design team members' blogs as well as this week's guest designer's blog!  They've created some inspiriting designs to help you start brainstorming! Monday Menagerie: Dinosaurs

A new week is here!  Mondays always feel like a new start to me and I love that!  Last week, dinosaurs were a big part of our days & I thought I'd share a few fun dinosaur things! First, of course, a dinosaur themed card!  It always seems like I don't have baby cards to give with gifts when I need them, so this card will be going in my stash!   2016 June20 SSS Dinosaur WM   The current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is to use animals.  I figured a dinosaur counts, right?!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge BlogANIMAL MAGIC

I used the adorable dino from Mama Elephant Clear Stamp JUST HATCHED Set & perched him on top of a box image from Simon Says Stamps and Dies CUDDLY CRITTERS ACCESSORIES Set255CCA My Favorite and stamped the heart shaped balloon.   The baby dino's favorite word (also from the Just Hatched set) was stamped directly on the balloon before adding a touch of sparkle using a ZIG Wink of Stella GLITTER CLEAR Brush Tip Marker 025320.  Copic markers were used to color the images.  I had so much fun assembling this card and can't wait for someone to have a new baby so I can give it away! Here's a closer look at the sparkly balloon: 2016 June20 SSS Dinosaur details On to our family's dinosaur fun... Last Thursday, I took DS3 & DD to the local museum which recently added a dinosaur exhibit to their display.  I didn't realize just how big and how noisy the dinosaurs were going to be!  DD wanted carried through it all and DS3 hesitantly made his way through the arrangement of beasts on either side of the walkway.  In the end, each got to pick out a small stuffed dinosaur.  This is what DS3 chose.  He was quite enamored with his choice. 2016 June20 Dinosaur   I also found a cool cookie cutter set, so it's a good thing we get a member discount!  We discovered a new recipe for cut out cookies that doesn't require refrigeration & they were quite tasty!  I'll admit, my hand was a bit sore after adding all the frosting details! 2016 June20 DinosaurHands DS3 was a good sport last week, agreeing to be a model for me for an idea I had for a dinosaur photo.  I've never tried anything like this before, but it was fun! 2016 June Triceratops WM So there you have it!  Our dinosaur filled week!  I'm thinking a summer filled with themed weeks might be just what we need to make things a little more exciting and predictable during the next couple months!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Week 202 - Masculine   It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  The gallery was so bright and cheerful last week with all those sunshine themed cards!  What a joy to look through!  This week, we're going for masculine themed designs (or whatever the cue word brings to mind for you)!  I'm always looking for masculine card design ideas, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what our participants create! I immediately thought of mustaches and I'm not really sure why.  DH has never had a mustache and, honestly, I don't care for them much unless they are stamped on a card.  At first, I was going to try using one of those fuzzy black mustaches that kids stick to their faces just for fun, but that just created a mess of fuzz all over my nice white card base, so I had to scratch that idea.  In the end, I found a mustache image from Taylored Expressions (retired set) and used a sentiment from Neat & Tangled (You + Me set) along with it. 2016 June14 MASCULINE WM I stamped and fussy cut the mustache, adding a little clear sparkle with a Wink of Stella brush marker.  It was then popped up with a foam dot.  I stamped the sentiment below it on the main panel.  Black cardstock was added as a matte and the assembled main panel was popped up with foam dots.  So easy!  That's the beauty of clean & simple!  It really doesn't take a lot of craft supplies to create an eye pleasing design! Be sure and take a little time to visit the design team members' & guest designer's blogs & leave a little blog love while you're there! DT Badge Don't forget to link up your own design on the CASology blog by Monday at NOON (CDT) for you chance to win a prize from 7 Kids College Fund, our sponsor this week! 7kidslogo

CASology Sunshine

I want to say thank you to everyone who left comments here and on the CASology blog during last week's big 200th challenge!  The support that has been shown over the last few years means so much and I still find it wonderfully amazing how CASology has grown and flourished!  I want to give the credit to the design team members (past and present), our wonderful sponsors and our fantastic community of CAS-minded crafters!  CASology is what it is today because of you!!!  Here's to the next 200 clean & simple challenges! The winner of my blog candy is Daria Z!  Please email me your mailing address at and I'll get your prize in the mail!!!   Week 201 - Sunshine Today, we're looking for a little sunshine over at CASology.  Not because we're down in the dumps or experiencing gloomy weather, but because we all like a dose of the stuff as often as possible!  Over the years, I've liked the thought of creating my own sunshine when things around me aren't so bright.  Granted, I am human and it doesn't work 100% of the time...but I try.  This week, we have a brand new sponsor, Rubber Dance Stamps, and I used some of their wonderful stamps for my CAS design.  I am in love with this sentiment! 2016 June7 SUNSHINE I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine spritzes to ink up the fun spiral circle from the Round in Circles set, stamping it first onto the card base.  I then stamped the lovely sentiment from the Think Again stamp set on top of the main image to preserve white space.  There is a subtle sparkle to the spiral sun and I tried to get a better photo to show you... 2016 June7 SUNSHINE closeup ...but alas, it's still not exactly noticeable in the photo.  Rest assured, the recipient of this card will see it clearly! I hope you'll take some time to visit the blogs of our sponsor, the design team and guest designer this week, leaving some blog love!  Then, don't forget to link up your own SUNSHINE creation on the CASology blog for your chance to win the prize from Rubber Dance Stamps! CAS with CASology + Blog Candy!

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!  It feels like Monday today for me, but it's actually Tuesday! Week 200 - CAS A new cue word is up over at CASology and, with it, some fun & excitement!  Today is the beginning of CASology's 200th challenge!  How time has flown!!!  In celebration, several of the design team members are offering blog candy on their personal blogs, selecting random winners via a drawing!  In order to be eligible to win, you need to do TWO things:
  1.   Enter a card in this week's challenge by linking up on the CASology blog by Monday at NOON (CDT).
  2.   Leave a comment on the DT members' blogs on which you want to be eligible to win the blog candy.
Winners will be announced next Tuesday, June 7, on both the CASology blog as well as each of the DT members' personal blogs. Here is my blog candy offering! 2016 May31 BlogCandy
  • Penny Black clear stamp set
  • planner clear stamp set from The Ton
  • yellow chalk marker
  • $10 Starbucks gift card (because everything is better with coffee...)
Since the cue word is "CAS", there were lots of different ideas that went through my head, but I finally settled on the cute Carried Away stamp set & coordinating dies from Mama Elephant that I've been wanting to use for quite some time now!  I paired them with the You stamp set and coordinating die from Simon Says Stamp. 2016 May31 CAS WM The big red balloon was die cut from red glitter cardstock & popped up with foam dots.  The "you" was die cut from black cardstock & glued directly to the main panel as the string to the balloon.  I die cut the little girl and colored her with Copic markers before popping her up with foam dots.  I arranged all three of these diagonally on the die cut main panel (Mama Elephant's Femme Frames), popping it up with foam dots.  I positioned the little girl and balloon slightly off the edge to create a little interest on the design. Remember to join in the 200th celebration this week by linking up your own CAS creation on the CASology blog AND commenting on the DT members' blogs!  Here's a list for easy reference: DT Badge Continue Reading...

A FAST Challenge at CASology

It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  This week, we're either starving ourselves or traveling at high speeds.  You get to choose!  Kind of like those "would you rather..." questions the kids keep asking me these days!  With a beach visit on the agenda this summer, I chose a diet theme.  Sometimes CAS design feels like card making on a diet, doesn't it?  You just know you could add a little more, but know in the end you'll be happier with less. 2016 May24 FAST WM This little gal is from the (sadly) no longer existent Elzybells.  Oh, how I loved those stamps!  I have my own little stash of them hidden away and don't plan on parting with them anytime soon.  Kind of like chocolate, if you know what I mean?! I colored the main image with Copic markers and then added a touch of clear Wink of Stella brush marker to the cookies.  I popped up the main panel with foam dots to give the card a little dimension. Be sure and visit the blogs of the design team as well as our guest designer this week!  They work so hard each week to provide CAS inspiration! Week 198 - Stencil A new cue word is up over at CASology!  This week, it's all about the stencil.  Of course, you don't necessarily have to use a stencil because the cue words are always wide open for interpretation!  Personally, I went with the obvious and used a stencil from STAMPlorations, our sponsor this week. 2016 May16 STENCIL I sponged the stencil with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then brushed over it with two different Wink of Stella brush markers, white & silver, to add a little sparkle & variation in shading.  I then adhered pieces of tiny blue star glitter randomly, clustering it around the big, bold sentiment. I hope you'll visit the rest of the design team members' blogs as well as this week's guest designer's blog and leave them a little blog love! DT Badge

It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  This week, we're brainstorming with the word SPRINKLE!  For me, this word is typically a very happy one and makes me think of those colorful little things the kids sprinkle all over cookies, cupcakes...counters and floors.  However, in the spirit of spring rains, I went with an umbrella image instead. 2016 Apr26 SPRINKLE I used a couple of older Paper Trey Ink sets, Scattered Showers and Scattered Showers Additions.  The handle was stamped first and then I stamped the main part of the umbrella in SU's Tempting Turquoise and fussy cut it before popping it up with foam dots to add a touch of dimension.  I added a trio of raindrops to serve as a sprinkle, adding a touch of sparkle to each one with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The sentiment was stamped in black. I hope you'll stop by the blogs of each design team member and this week's guest designer!  A little sprinkle of blog love always makes anyone's day! DT Badge
