LOUD with CASology

LOUD with CASology
It's Tuesday and a new cue word is up for brainstorming over at CASology! Week 250 - Loud There are many interpretations one could use for this word.  I went with a music themed interpretation.  Music can get a little loud sometimes! I used the jukebox image from Sunny Studio's Sock Hop set to create my clean & simple design.  I used their wavy border dies to cut out two sound waves from white cardstock.  These were adhered to the card base using liquid adhesive.  I then stamped the jukebox in black ink and colored it with Copic markers.  A little sparkle was applied to the center of the jukebox with clear Spectrum Noir glitter brush pens.  The jukebox was popped up using foam adhesive for dimension.  The sentiment and music notes were stamped in black ink to finish off the design. Go take a look at what the design team and this week's guest designer designed for inspiration! DT Badge

A Muse Studio June Collection Sneak Peek!

A Muse Studio June Collection Sneak Peek!
Excitement is building over at A Muse Studio!  The June Collection is set to release this Thursday and three days of sneak peeks begin today!  Today, I'm sharing a little peek at the new Let's Be Mermaids set! logo I stamped the little mermaid in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then cut it out using the coordinating die.  I die cut a wavy line using a piece of Mermaid cardstock cut twice with one of the stitched landscape dies.  The die cut piece was attached directly to the Sugar cardstock base using liquid adhesive after stamping the simple sentiment.  The mermaid was colored using a water brush and Papaya, Mermaid and Ocean pigment inks.  Copic markers were used on the mermaid's skin.  Once the inks were dry, Diamond Embossing Powder was applied to the tail for a little sparkle and gold embossing powder was used on the crown.  The finished mermaid was attached to the die cut wavy line using foam adhesive for a little dimension. 2017 May Melissa5 closeup Stay tuned for more fun sneak peeks tomorrow and Wednesday! Sorry I've been so quiet lately.  May has proven to be full of special events and family time!  Summer is coming, after all, and it's a bit of a primer for the next three months when all the kids will be home enjoying summer break!  Rigid schedules will subside for a while and we'll start planning summer fun together!

Have a marvelous Monday!

CASology COMMENCEMENT

CASology COMMENCEMENT
It's time for a new cue word over at CASology!  With all the graduations going on this month, we thought we'd provide a gallery of inspiration for the occasion this week! Week 248 - Commencement I used a stitched die cut from Mama Elephant's Femme Frames to create the hat base, cutting it to fit on the card base at an angle.  I stamped the letters from A Muse Studio's Rino Alphabet in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, following the edge of the hat.  I punched a 3/4-inch circle, cut it in half and heat embossed it with Ranger Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder.  I popped it up on the hat with foam adhesive.  The assembled hat was then popped up on the card base using foam adhesive. We have two graduations to attend this year.  Both are kids that were just three years old when we moved to the area!  Time really does fly!  Our own children are living proof of that and whenever I attend graduations, I find myself reminded again just how quickly children grow up.  And how fast life itself goes by.  Every day counts. Have a terrific Tuesday!Continue Reading...

A Muse Studio Time to Party

A Muse Studio Time to Party
I'm back with more A Muse Studio May new release inspiration!  This time, with a cute card using the fun Time to Party set! logo I stamped the bunny in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and die cut it using the coordinating dies for the stamp set.  I die cut a strip of grass using the Grass Die and Grass cardstock.  I decided to add a trio of flowers using some Cherry Blossom Sequins.  After adhering the grass and sequins to the main panel, I stamped the simple, punny sentiment and attached the bunny above it using foam adhesive to make it look like the bunny is happily hopping along!  The finished main panel was then attached to the Sugar cardstock base using additional foam adhesive. 2017 AprilMelissa4 closeup I love how happy this little bunny is!  All the critters in this set make me smile!  It's such a fun set! Stop back tomorrow as I'll be sharing another design using one of the other critters!  Continue Reading...

A Blog Named Hero May Challenge

A Blog Named Hero May Challenge
It's time for the May challenge over at A Blog Named Hero!  This month, Honey Bee Stamps is our sponsor and the theme is watercoloring!  How fun is that?!

2017 May Challenge LogoI used the Hero Arts Stamp & Cuts Dress Up Stamp And Die Set and stamped the girl & legs images in black ink before coloring with Copic Markers.  I die cut the skirt in watercolor paper and then watercolored it with pearlescent watercolors for shimmer.  The puppy was stamped with black ink also and colored with Copics.  I created the spot on its eye by using my Copic blender pen.  I drew a leash with a fine black marker.  The sentiment was stamped at a diagonal with black ink and little flower and clear sequins were added as embellishments.  The main panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle die to dress it up a bit and then popped up on the card base with foam adhesive.  I also added a little sparkle to the girl's hair band and necklace with a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Overlay brush marker.

I just love how you can pair Honey Bee & Hero Arts stamps together to created fun designs!  This girl and puppy just seem to go together!

Come join us for our May watercoloring challenge this month!  You have several weeks to play, so go for it!

A Muse Studio May New Release Sneak Peek 3
It's Day Three of the A Muse Studio May New Release sneak peeks! logo I used the new Time to Party set along with one of the dies from the Stitched Circle Windows die set to create this card. I added a little bunny bum to the party hat for fun!  Makes it a bit more dimensional! 2017 AprilMelissa7 closeup I die cut the stitched circle on a panel of Sugar cardstock and stamped the simple sentiment (from the Hello Gorgeous set) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The bunny and party hat (Navy ink) were stamped and die cut using the new Time to Party set and a coordinating dies.  I then cut a slightly smaller panel of Herringbone Cotton Candy cardstock and adhered it to the back of the die cut panel, sandwiching the bunny between the two.  I glued down the bunny, leaving one ear loose.  The finished main panel was then popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. Are you ready for the May A Muse Studio new release coming this Friday?  We're pretty excited and three days of sneak peeks begin today! logo For today, I thought I'd share a card I made with the new Vintage Florals.  This set is absolutely beautiful and it's perfect for creating Mother's Day cards! I used Winter Sky and Navy pigment inks on watercolor paper to create the look on the background panel, adding water to the inks and blending with a watercolor brush.  The flower is inked with Habanero pigment ink, lightly spritzed with water and then stamped on the watercolor background. 2017 AprilMelissa9 closeup The finished panel was popped up on a Vanilla cardstock base using foam adhesive.  The pretty sentiment is from the Aren't You Sweet set which is an existing set in the online store.  It was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Vanilla cardstock.  I trimmed the cardstock into a banner shape and popped it up with foam adhesive over the main panel.
