Hero Arts Hoppy Birthday

Hero Arts Hoppy Birthday
Happy Monday!  We're starting the week with snow.  Winter isn't over yet, after all! I am personally done with winter, so have started digging spring themed things out of my stash!  This Paper Layering Rabbit Die from Hero Arts grabbed my attention and I made a quick white on white design! I simply die cut the pop up portion of the die set and then added the simple sentiment (from the March My Monthly Hero Kit) in white!  The main panel is die cut with a stitched rectangle die to create a little frame. I hope your week is starting off on the right foot!  It's spring break here, so I'm not planning on a whole lot of crafty time in the studio this week!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Hero Arts Koi Hello

Hero Arts Koi Hello
It's almost Friday and I've been working away in my craft room this week, trying to work ahead for a change! Today, I was in the mood for a one layer card!  Hero Arts' new Color Layering Koi set was just perfect for what I had in mind!  I layer stamped the fish in Soft Vanilla & Soft Granite inks, stamping the eyes with Carcoal ink.  I used a clean fonted sentiment from Hero Arts' Everyday Sayings, stamping it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  To finish off the design, I added some subtle sparkle to the fish using a Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear Sparkle marker. 2017 Mar9 KoiCloseup I hope your week has been decent!  A busy one here, but we're doing okay! CASology LANDMARK

CASology LANDMARK
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word to put us back into brainstorming mode!  Like to travel?  This week's gallery will probably offer some sightseeing opportunities!  More the type who likes home and would rather sit back and enjoy life's events?  The gallery will most likely provide inspiration for those too! Week 239 - Landmark I went with a landmark I've never seen in person, but would love to some day, Big Ben!  I'd love to travel to England and see a few other things too! I used two A Muse stamp sets, British Invasion & Clever Girls (retired).  I stamped Big Ben and the trio of birds in black ink directly onto the card base.  I then die cut two hills (Landscape dies) using Grass cardstock.  The simple sentiment was stamped in black ink directly onto one of the die cut pieces.  The die cuts were then attached to the main panel using foam dots for dimension.  The assembled main panel was then attached to the card base using more foam dots.  I thought about adding embellishments, but my minimalist tendencies took over and I left things alone. You'll want to visit the design team members' and guest designer's blogs this week and see where they took the cue word! DT Badge

CASology Double CRUNCH

CASology Double CRUNCH
I'm back again before the weekend begins with another card for the current CRUNCH challenge over at CASology!  I just couldn't resist!  This is such a fun cue word!  I had some lovely craft time this morning with DD and we had a ton of fun! Week 238 - Crunch I used Lawn Fawn's adorable Donut Worry set along with the coordinating Donut Worry Lawn Cut die to create this appetizing clean & simple design!  Who doesn't like a donut with colorful sprinkles?! The main panel is die cut with My Favorite Things' Wonky Stitched Rectangle Die-Namics.  I stamped and die cut the trio of donuts first and then colored each one with Copic markers.  I added colorful sprinkles to one of them using different colors of Stickles.  The fun sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Both the main panel and trio of donuts are popped up with foam dots for dimension. Have a great weekend and don't forget to create your own interpretation of CRUNCH, linking up on the CASology challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CST) for your chance to win the prize from Lawn Fawn, this week's sponsor! CASology CRUNCH

CASology CRUNCH
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word challenge over at CASology!  I'm guessing we're going to have a fun gallery this week!  There are SO many ways to interpret this one and I had a tough time narrowing my own design down to one theme!  I may just have to create another card for later in the week! Week 238 - Crunch With in-loves who live on a farm, one of my first thoughts was cows or horses eating hay.  Have you ever heard a cow eating hay?!  Now that's a crunch if I've ever heard one!  I stamped the cow from Lawn Fawn's Critters on the Farm set and then colored with Copics and fussy cut the finished image.  I die cut a circle out of the card front with a circle die from Mama Elephant's Pizazz Creative Cuts Die Set  to frame the main image.  I then popped up the cow inside the card with foam dots, adding little tufts of green grass with a Copic marker (& forgot to take a photo).  I wanted the cow's face to be peeking out of the circle and this allowed for that.  The simple sentiment is from the same stamp set and is stamped in black ink directly on the card front. I hope you'll take a little time to visit the design team members' blogs as well as our guest designer's blog this week!  They'd love to hear from you! DT Badge

Love Note

Love Note
Happy Monday!  After a full weekend, I'm hoping to get a little time in the craft room to work on some cards I need to make.  It's been a bit harder to convince myself to go down and work on paper crafting when the weather outside has been absolutely gorgeous for this time of year!  Sixty degrees (Farenheit) in February?!  I'll take it! I had whipped up this card around Valentine's Day, but haven't shared it until now because the recipient happens to be active in the paper crafting community! The heart die cut is Simon Says Stamp's Heart of Flowers Wafer Die and the main panel was die cut with one of their Stitched Rectangles Dies.  The simple sentiment is from the Poppy Stamps Love Note set.  I watercolored the background panel with red and turquoise paint and spritzed it with Heidi Swapp's White Color Shine Spray for a little shimmer.  The heart panel is popped up over the watercoloring with foam dots.  I love that you can vary the background with this pretty die simply by using different colors and techniques!  I can't wait to play with it more! It looks like it's going to be a rainy day today, so my wish may come true and I'll find myself making crafty messes here in a little bit!  First, coffee.

Have a marvelous Monday!

CASology ROMANCE

CASology ROMANCE
Happy Heart Day! CASology's cue word for the week fits in quite nicely with today's holiday!

Week 236 - Romance

I tend to think along classical and elegant lines when thinking of romance.  I, personally, have a bit of romantic relationship with coffee since I can't seem to live without it.  I thought perhaps if I dressed up a to go cup it might be a bit more romantic for Valentine's Day than the usual kraft colored cups I get at the local coffee shop.  Thank you, Uniko Studio, for providing a wonderful coffee cup image (from the I Love Coffee set) for me to play with as I paper pieced with decorative paper that hasn't seen the light of day in quite some time! I stamped the coffee cup in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, fussy cut and then paper pieced using a print from Echo Park's Yours Truly collection (discontinued).  The little golden heart is from Uniko's Strike a Pose set (retired) and is stamped in gold ink.  I added a little extra gold shimmer using a Wink of Stella Glitter Gold Brush Marker before attaching it to the cup with foam dots.  The main panel is die cut using a die from Simon Says Stamp's Stitched Rectangles Dies.  I stamped the simple sentiment (Uniko's All Occasion Sentiments #5) in black at the top of the main panel before adhering the cup with foam dots.  The assembled panel was also attached to the card base with foam dots.  True love in a cup! I hope you'll take a little time to leave some blog love on the blogs of the design team members and guest designer this week!  They pour a lot of love and creative effort into the inspiration they provide! A Muse Just a Note

A Muse Just a Note
Happy Monday!  It's a sunny one here and a welcome warm up is on the way!  It's so strange not having any snow on the ground mid-February! I dug out my neglected kraft cardstock last week to create a quick "just a note" card.  It seems like I go in cycles with kraft card stock.  Some weeks, it's all I use.  Other times, I go months without even thinking about it! I've been exploring my stash of stamps a little more lately and discovering I have some oldies, but goodies, hidden away!  This older stamp set from A Muse Studio caught my eye and I thought it would be perfect with kraft cardstock!  I stamped the flowers in StampinUp!'s Soft Suede ink and then stamped the birds in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The little birds were fussy cut and sparkle added with a Crafter's Companion Clear Overlay Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen before being popped up with foam dots for dimension. I love how quickly this design came together!  I often need a simple card for general correspondence and this will be perfect!

Have a marvelous Monday & don't forget tomorrow is Valentine's Day!

Loving You

Loving You
Happy Saturday!  Yesterday was a no school day for us and, despite the extra noise and commotion in the house, I actually found a little crafting time mid-afternoon!  DD is really in love with painting these days and loves to spend time in the craft room with me.  Granted, I have many little clean up moments to tend to, but overall, we have fun crafting together! I've been trying to get Valentine's Day things wrapped up.  School valentine exchanges are coming up next Tuesday and I like to have a little something ready to give our kids at supper on the holiday.  The local schools don't allow sugary treats anymore, so pencils it is this year.  For here at home, I try not to go overboard with sugary gifts either, but I do let the kids indulge a little.  Moderation in everything is my personal motto! I was going through some of my beloved Unity Stamp Co. stash recently and realized I have so many treasures hidden away that I haven't touched in ages!  Time to change that!  I created a clean and simple valentine by combining a pretty sentiment from the November 2012 Kit of the Month with hearts from the adorable Loads of Love set.  I stamped the hearts in red and then applied sparkle with a Crafter's Companion Clear Overlay Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen, one of my new favorites.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink.  The main panel was created using Mama Elephant's Peek a Frame Creative Cuts Die Set .  I added a tiny clear gemstone to one of the hearts before popping up the finished main panel with foam dots. A very simple valentine in classic colors!  This could be modified using different sentiments for a variety of people.  Quick and easy is my ball game and this design is so easy to mass produce!

Have a wonderful weekend!

CASology Hero

CASology Hero
It's Tuesday and time for a new CASology cue word!  This week, we're turning our thoughts toward heroes.  So many unsung ones, aren't there? Avery Elle With Avery Elle as our sponsor, I created a congratulations themed design using their Oh Yeah stamp set.  A sentiment focused card is a good way to keep things clean and simple!  I simply stamped the lower portion of the speech bubble on the main panel, added the simple sentiment and then dressed both up with a touch of clear sparkle using a Wink of Stella Brush Marker!  The main panel was then popped up with foam dots for dimension.  Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!  Can't get much simpler than that! I hope you'll take some time to go visit the design team and guest designer blogs this week!  They've created some fantastic inspiration, once again! DT Badge
