CASology PUN

CASology PUN
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  This week, you're sure to find a smile somewhere in the gallery! I chose a simple mustache image from Paper Smooches and added a little sparkle to it with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Glitter Marker before popping it up with foam adhesive for dimension.  The coordinating punny sentiment is stamped in black to create a monochromatic design.  The main panel was die cut using a My Favorite Things (MFT) Wonky Rectangles Die. I hope you'll take some time to visit the guest designer and design team member blogs and send them a little hello!

CASology TOGETHER

CASology TOGETHER
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word over at CASology!  This week, we're trying to keep it together! I created a super simple valentine.  The heart is a piece of red cardstock die cut with a heart die from A Muse Studio and dry embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  The little pops of white occurred naturally when I embossed the cardstock.  It's not seen in the photo, but I added a light layer of sparkle to the raised portions of the heart with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  This was popped up on the card base with foam adhesive to add a little dimension.  The card base was die cut using a stitched rectangle die from A Muse.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink on the main panel and is from an older Mama Elephant set.  That's it! I hope you'll take a little time to swing by the guest designer and design team members' blogs this week!  They'd love to hear from you!

CASology BUTTERFLY

CASology BUTTERFLY
It's time for a new CASology cue word and we're focusing on those pretty little critters that we tend to associate with warmer months!  These are also associated with Valentine's Day and love, so the gallery should prove to be an interesting one this week! I chose to use a piece of watercolor paper to add a little texture to the design, applying color to it with some of my favorite Heidi Swapp Color Shine sprays and die cutting it with a stitched rectangle die.  Both the butterfly (Unity) and sentiment were stamped in black ink.  The finished main panel was popped up on the card base using foam adhesive to add a little dimension.

CASology SWOON

CASology SWOON
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  With Valentine's Day coming up so soon, we thought we'd use a fitting word!   Such a fun one, don't you think?! I used some A Muse Studio goodies to create this clean & simple design!  Three simple heart images were stamped in pink ink on white cardstock and then cut out with a coordinating heart die.  The main panel was die cut using a stitched rectangle die and then the simple sentiment was stamped in black ink.  The trio of hearts was popped up above the sentiment with foam adhesive and then three clear sequins were added as subtle embellishments.  The finished main panel was then popped up with additional foam adhesive directly on the card base. It's hard to believe Valentine's Day is so close now!  I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of school excitement for the holiday these days.  When I was a little girl, Valentine's Day was one of the fun highlights of school.  We used to bring in old shoe boxes and decorate them to our heart's content as we anticipated receiving little valentines from our friends and special little treats and trinkets.  Now the kids are lucky if they do anything at all.  Sigh.  Things change.  I try to at least send a little something to teachers, grandparents, young cousins and close friends.  It's the least I can do!  *wink* This week, two more new design team members as well as a guest designer are joining us in providing creative inspiration, so please join us in giving them a happy hello on their personal blogs, if you have a little time!

CASology LATE

CASology LATE
It's Tuesday again and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  This week's cue word may very well help add a few belated birthday cards to your stash! I used a cute little image from My Favorite Things to create a simple design.  There are times when I've run a bit late, felt bad about it and could have used a card like this to offer my apologies! I first stamped the elephant and colored it with Copic markers.  I then die cut the main panel with a stitched rectangle die before stamping the the sentiment in black ink.  The little elephant was popped up above the sentiment with foam adhesive and then I added three clear star sequins.  I love clear embellishments as I feel they help a design feel a little less cluttered than colored ones.  There are times when I don't really feel like there is much room left for the addition of any kind of embellishments, but sometimes clear embellishments are the answer!  The finished main panel was popped up on the card base using additional foam adhesive. This week, we welcomed three new design team members, so be sure and go check out that post & help us give them a warm welcome!  Karen is joining us this week and Kevin and Bharati will join us with next week's challenge!

CASology GLIMMER

CASology GLIMMER
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new CASology cue word!  This week, we're adding a little glimmer to our CAS designs!  So many ways to do this and I'm pretty sure the gallery will be beautiful! STAMPlorations, this week's sponsor, has an adorable winter themed set and I couldn't resist creating a design with a sparkly little igloo on it!  A die cut main panel dressed things up a bit and a very simple color scheme kept the overall design clean. I hope you'll take a little time to visit the guest designer and design team blogs this week!  We can all use a little happy hello now and then!

A Muse Studio Pizza Love

A Muse Studio Pizza Love
Now that the end-of-the-year holidays have come and gone, I appreciate the usual shift in thinking toward the next holiday, Valentine's Day.  I admit it's one of my favorites during any given year!  A Muse Studio has some of the cutest valentine images & products and I couldn't help using one of them for today's post! Family and friends know that I rarely turn down pizza and the little pizza image in the A Muse My Punny Valentine set called my name.  I decided to use kraft cardstock to go along with the warmth of the typical piece of pizza.  The main panel was die cut using the stitched triangle from the Tag Bundle Die Set.  The pizza image was stamped on Sugar (white) cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink before being colored with Copic markers.  It was then cut out using the coordinating die from the The simple coordinating sentiment was stamped with Versafine black ink and then the little pizza slice was popped up above it using foam adhesive. The assembled main panel was popped up on the card base using more foam adhesive and the design was complete! Have you started making any valentines yet?  You'll want to check out all the adorable images in this punny stamp set!  Perfect for kids' valentines too!

CASology ENCOURAGEment

CASology ENCOURAGEment
Happy New Year! It's time for the first CASology challenge of 2018!  Everyone tends to make new year's resolutions, so we wanted to fill the gallery with encouragement this week!  We're also having a design team call, so if you love the thought of being a part of the CASology team as we head into 2018, be sure and go check out the detailsThe deadline for submitting applications is Friday, January 12! One of my personal resolutions is to send out more handmade cards this year.  I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't like a personal note in their mailbox.  People come to mind throughout the week and I need to be better at acting on those thoughts, grabbing a card, writing some encouraging words inside and sending them off in the mail!  Who knows what hidden struggles someone might be in the middle of and it never hurts to send a happy hello! For my design this week, I chose a very simple monochromatic design.  I went with a black and white color scheme and simply popped up the main image (Hero Arts) to add some subtle dimension.  Aligning everything diagonally also helps!   Please be sure and take some time to encourage the design team members on their personal blogs!  They contribute their time and talent each week to inspire our participants!

CASology KINDNESS

CASology KINDNESS
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology and this one happens to be the last one for 2017!  A kindness theme seemed to go along with the transition from one year to another, so we're filling the gallery with it and keeping the challenge open for TWO weeks to get us through the holiday season! I went with a thank you card design because when I think of kindness it involves generosity, not just with material things, but with the giving of smiles, a kind word or simply stepping in where needed.  We're all human and we can all use a little kindness in our lives as well as give a little of it to others! I stamped a Hampton Arts image (a two-step stamp set), using Stampin' Up's Crushed Curry yellow ink as the focal color.  The sentiment from STAMPlorations was then stamped in black ink and the design was complete!  How's that for a quick and easy one-layer thank you?!  My favorite kind! I hope you'll join us in sharing a little kindness as we close out the year!  Let's see if we can take a little time and show each other a little kindness by not just visiting each other's blogs and other social media feeds, but actually stopping to leave a comment of encouragement for that creative journey we're all on! Don't forget to link up your own kindness creation on the CASology blog by Monday, January 1, at NOON (CST) for your chance to win the prize from STAMPlorations, our sponsor!

CASology GRAY

CASology GRAY
It's time for a brand new cue word over at CASology and we're giving GRAY a chance to be in the spotlight! I used gray as my card base color, but also used a message that might feel a little gray, if you know what I mean?!  No one likes to miss someone! This design is so simple.  I simply stamped a pine bough image (Uniko Studio) on a white cardstock panel and then added a simple, small sentiment in a clean font to the lower right corner.  I mounted this panel on black cardstock and then popped up the assembled piece on the gray cardbase using foam adhesive to add a little dimension to the overall design. I hope you'll play along with us this week!  Also, be sure and take a little time to leave the design team and this week's guest designer a little blog love!  They've created some fantastic inspiration again this week and they'd love to hear from you!

A Blog Named Hero Winter Holiday Challenge

A Blog Named Hero Winter Holiday Challenge
It's time for a brand new monthly challenge over at A Blog Named Hero and this month we're collaborating with Simon Says Stamp for a Winter Holiday theme! I created an arctic themed card using dies from Simon Says Stamp (SSS) as the focal point.  I die cut the penguin using the SSS Hugging Penguin Die and a combination of white and black cardstock.  The die cut heart is from the SSS Heart & Spoons die set and was used to cut the heart out of red cardstock.  I applied a touch of clear Wink of Stella to the heart for a little sparkle.  The white cardstock main panel was die cut using a SSS Stitched Rectangle die.  The assembled penguin was adhered directly to the die cut main panel and then the heart was popped up over the penguin using foam adhesive to give the design a little dimension.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Color Layering Baby Penguin set and was stamped in Versamark black ink.  The assembled main panel was then popped up on the white card base using more foam adhesive. I hope you'll come play along with us this month as we create winter holiday themed cards for your chance to win the prize from Simon Says Stamp, our collaborator!

Have a marvelous Monday!

A Muse Studio December Sneak Peek: Day 1

A Muse Studio December Sneak Peek: Day 1
It's time for sneak peeks of the A Muse Studio December Collection!  Are you ready for more winter goodness? Penguins abound in the new You're the Coolest set!  I created a simple birthday card using one of them.  I stamped the penguin and its balloon in black ink and then colored with Copic markers.  This was then cut out using the coordinating dies.  I placed two different strips of washi tape to the lower portion of the panel and then die cut using one of the dies from the Tag Bundle Die set.  The penguin was popped up over it using foam adhesive.  I applied a thin line of sparkle to the glasses using a silver Wink of Stella brush marker.  Doesn't this critter look classy?!  The little heart on the balloon was stamped in white ink.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink. Stay tuned for even more new release inspiration tomorrow!  Don't forget all the new releases will be available in the store this Friday!

Have a terrific Tuesday!
