A Blog Named Hero’s 5th Anniversary Blog Hop Celebration!
Have you heard?!  A Blog Named Hero is celebrating their 5 Year Anniversary today and tomorrow with a fabulous blog hop! 2017 Mar BlogHop Logo There have been so many wonderful companies who have sponsored the blog over the past 5 years and we wanted to give them a shout out as we celebrate this milestone, thanking them for their valued support over the past five years!  I have included the hop & prize details at the bottom of this post.  They can also be found over at A Blog Named Hero for easy reference and the full list of today's blog hop participants. As an A Blog Named Hero design team member, I created a card using some of Hero Arts' newest stamps!  I happen to love silhouette stamps and had to acquire the new Birthday Animal Silhouettes set as soon as I saw it!  So much fun!  I stamped the elephant in Soft Granite and the party hat in Crimson.  The little ball at the top of the party hat is a small accent pearl that I colored with a Copic marker!  I masked the water spray and used distress inks to add color.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink and then I added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker. 2017 Mar BlogHopElephant Closeup

A Muse Studio New Release Day!

A Muse Studio New Release Day!
The day is finally here!  The A Muse Studio new release is now available! I have to say, my favorite from the release has to be the new Bunny Candy Package!  There are so many possibilities for this!  I dressed mine up with the pretty new cardstocks, googly eyes and a little pearl sticker for a tail!  Inside, I put a Hershey's Chocolate Nugget which is the perfect rectangular shape and size.  The nose and mouth are selectively stamped from the bunny in the (new release) Happy Spring set. 2017 MarchMelissa10 Closeup2 WM I also made a little treat bag to go with these cute critters using the little Lunch Sack Die.  I embellished it with a die cut Stitched Egg (new release ) and delicate, mini die cut flower and added a little Bermuda pearl sticker to the flower center.  The egg is watercolored using Splash Color Spray. 2017 MarchMelissa10 Closefup WM The simple sentiment is from the (new release) Sweet Easter set & is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I filled it with green crinkle paper grass and additional treats. I hope this gives you some ideas for simple spring/Easter gift ideas!  I'm thinking teachers and classmates might just need a few of these in a variety of colors and patterns!  I may even try adding some of the adorable Bunny Bums (cotton tails) that are available in the store to the back of the bunnies!  So cute! Have fun shopping in the online store and making the items on your wish list a reality!  You can find the new release here.  If you just can't narrow it down and want the entire new release, you can purchase the I Want It All Bundle!  Enjoy spring's arrival and stop back often as I'll be back with even more new release inspiration in the days ahead! 2017 SignatureContinue Reading...

A Muse Studio Sneak Peek: Day 3

A Muse Studio Sneak Peek: Day 3
Today is the third and final day of sneak peeks for A Muse Studio's upcoming new release!  That means tomorrow is release day!  Doing a little happy dance, are you?! For today's sneak peek, I chose to create a watercolored design using one of the adorable bunnies in the new release along with the awesome new stitched egg die cuts! 2017 MarchMelissa3 Closeup WM I used a mixture of the fantastic Splash Inks to watercolor the eggs and main panel (using watercolor paper).  These sprays are so fun to use and, as you can see, can be used in other ways than the obvious!  I stamped the adorable bunny in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Vanilla cardstock before cutting it out and adhering it to the main panel with foam adhesive.  I attached the main panel to the card base using foam adhesive to add a little more dimension. It's time to get your wish list started if you haven't already!  Tomorrow's the big day!  While you're at it, go ahead and follow A Muse on Instagram and like their page on Facebook to keep updated on current events and the future new releases! It's Day 2 of sneak peeks over at A Muse Studio!  Today, I'm sharing a super clean and simple design I created with the new Happy Spring stamp set, being released this Friday!  It's a cute little set and this adorable bunny is one of the critters included in it! CASology CRUNCH

CASology CRUNCH
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word challenge over at CASology!  I'm guessing we're going to have a fun gallery this week!  There are SO many ways to interpret this one and I had a tough time narrowing my own design down to one theme!  I may just have to create another card for later in the week! Week 238 - Crunch With in-loves who live on a farm, one of my first thoughts was cows or horses eating hay.  Have you ever heard a cow eating hay?!  Now that's a crunch if I've ever heard one!  I stamped the cow from Lawn Fawn's Critters on the Farm set and then colored with Copics and fussy cut the finished image.  I die cut a circle out of the card front with a circle die from Mama Elephant's Pizazz Creative Cuts Die Set  to frame the main image.  I then popped up the cow inside the card with foam dots, adding little tufts of green grass with a Copic marker (& forgot to take a photo).  I wanted the cow's face to be peeking out of the circle and this allowed for that.  The simple sentiment is from the same stamp set and is stamped in black ink directly on the card front. I hope you'll take a little time to visit the design team members' blogs as well as our guest designer's blog this week!  They'd love to hear from you! DT Badge

A Blog Named Hero February Challenge

A Blog Named Hero February Challenge
Happy Monday!  Today is the beginning of the February challenge over at A Blog Named Hero and it's right up my alley with clean & simple as the theme!

2017 Feb JanesDoodlesLogo

Jane's Doodles is our sponsor and I combined one of their fun sets with a Hero Arts set to create a feel good card!  The raccoon was stamped and colored with Copic markers on a die cut stitched panel.  I couldn't resist adding googly eyes, of course, especially when he has a drink in hand!  The wine glass was stamped, colored with Copics and fussy cut before being popped up for dimension.  I added sparkle to the wine using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  I added three tiny clear gemstones for embellishments before popping up the assembled main panel on the card base using foam dots.  Such a fun and simple design!  That raccoon makes me smile every time I see it! Be sure and play along this month with your own CAS design!  Head on over to A Blog Named Hero to check out the inspiration from the design team!

Have a marvelous Monday!

CASology YOUTH

CASology YOUTH
A brand new cue word is up over at CASology!  This week, youth is the focus.  Whether you think of babies, quirky habits or wrinkle free skin, you'll want to play along and link up to what's sure to be a fun gallery! 2016 KittyBeeDesigns Logo With Kitty Bee Designs as our sponsor this week, I chose to use their adorable Ipod Panda as my focal image.  I printed the digital image and colored with Copic markers.  I added clear stickles to his headphones because what youth doesn't like a little extra flair?!  I haven't used my Nestablities Circle Dies for what seems like forever, but used one to frame the panda and then popped it up with foam dots to add dimension. I hope you'll take a little time and leave some blog love for the design team and this week's guest designer on their blogs!  They work hard each week to provide inspiration for the challenges! CASology GLISTEN

CASology GLISTEN
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word over at CASology!  This week is bound to inspire a pretty gallery! With Poppystamps returning as our sponsor, I combined a couple of their stamp sets to create my arctic themed design.  I'm pretty sure Antarctica glistens.  A lot. After stamping and fussy cutting the iceberg and sweet little polar bear, I used a Copic marker on the bear's cheeks and ears.  The iceberg was covered with Diamond Stickles for the GLISTEN-ing effect.  I used a Mama Elephant landscape die to create the grounding water piece and then popped everything up with varying heights of foam dots.  The little red heart was also colored with Copic markers, fussy cut and popped up.  I stamped the sentiment below the scene to preserve white space in the main portion of the card. I hope you'll take some time and visit the design team members' blogs, leaving them a little blog love!  They are such an inspiration each week, brainstorming and creating wonderfully CAS designs to jumpstart everyone's creativity! Don't forget to link up your own clean and simple creation on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CST)!

Monday Menagerie: Dinosaurs

A new week is here!  Mondays always feel like a new start to me and I love that!  Last week, dinosaurs were a big part of our days & I thought I'd share a few fun dinosaur things! First, of course, a dinosaur themed card!  It always seems like I don't have baby cards to give with gifts when I need them, so this card will be going in my stash!   2016 June20 SSS Dinosaur WM   The current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is to use animals.  I figured a dinosaur counts, right?!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge BlogANIMAL MAGIC

I used the adorable dino from Mama Elephant Clear Stamp JUST HATCHED Set & perched him on top of a box image from Simon Says Stamps and Dies CUDDLY CRITTERS ACCESSORIES Set255CCA My Favorite and stamped the heart shaped balloon.   The baby dino's favorite word (also from the Just Hatched set) was stamped directly on the balloon before adding a touch of sparkle using a ZIG Wink of Stella GLITTER CLEAR Brush Tip Marker 025320.  Copic markers were used to color the images.  I had so much fun assembling this card and can't wait for someone to have a new baby so I can give it away! Here's a closer look at the sparkly balloon: 2016 June20 SSS Dinosaur details On to our family's dinosaur fun... Last Thursday, I took DS3 & DD to the local museum which recently added a dinosaur exhibit to their display.  I didn't realize just how big and how noisy the dinosaurs were going to be!  DD wanted carried through it all and DS3 hesitantly made his way through the arrangement of beasts on either side of the walkway.  In the end, each got to pick out a small stuffed dinosaur.  This is what DS3 chose.  He was quite enamored with his choice. 2016 June20 Dinosaur   I also found a cool cookie cutter set, so it's a good thing we get a member discount!  We discovered a new recipe for cut out cookies that doesn't require refrigeration & they were quite tasty!  I'll admit, my hand was a bit sore after adding all the frosting details! 2016 June20 DinosaurHands DS3 was a good sport last week, agreeing to be a model for me for an idea I had for a dinosaur photo.  I've never tried anything like this before, but it was fun! 2016 June Triceratops WM So there you have it!  Our dinosaur filled week!  I'm thinking a summer filled with themed weeks might be just what we need to make things a little more exciting and predictable during the next couple months!

Have a marvelous Monday!

CASology Doodles

It's time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  This week, we're doodling...or stamping doodle images...or creating whatever DOODLE makes us think of!  I chose to use an image from STAMPlorations' SmallBirds - The Bee's Knees set & a sentiment from their Grateful Beyond Words set for my design. I stamped the sentiment and bird image first and then added the die cut heart, popping it up with a foam dot to add a little dimension to an otherwise one layer design.  I applied a little sparkle to the heart using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.   Then, don't forget to link up your own creation on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CDT) for your chance to win a prize from STAMPlorations, our sponsor this week!
