First Day on the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team!

First Day on the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team!
I'm feeling a bit excited as I'm now officially beginning my position on the Honey Bee Stamps Social Media Design Team!  I get to share designs using their fantastic stamps all over social media in the months ahead!  How fun is that?! 2017 Honey Bee DT Badge I have some wedding anniversaries coming up in my extended family this summer, so thought I'd design something with that type of theme.  I used a large sentiment with a pretty font from the Happiness Stamp Set and paired it with a smaller sentiment with a clean font from the same set.  This design is a classic black, white and red one!  The little heart is from the Simple Sentiments Set.  I added a little red glitter to it for some sparkle and then added a sticky black rhinestone to the "i" of the large sentiment.  The main panel was die cut using one of the A2 Double Stitched Frames Dies.  To create a little interest, I cut a small banner out of a piece of Zen Floral Washi tape and adhered it to the upper left corner.  The assembled main panel was then popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. This is a very clean & simple design that can be recreated easily! Stay tuned for more Honey Bee inspiration each week and get ready for a brand new release in July!     SaveContinue Reading...

It's time for a new cue word over at CASology and we're starting to gear up for next week's milestone challenge!  We can hardly believe we're approaching our 100th challenge!  This week, we thought we'd focus on anniversary as our cue word!

It seems like I always think of love and married couples when this word pops up in front of me.  I suppose one could also think about work milestones such as retirement.  I went with a love theme for my take on the cue word.

I used a Lawn Fawn die to create the stitched circle and heart, filling the negative space with a little My Mind's Eye decorative paper.  I decided to keep the sentiment inside the circle, hoping to preserve a very clean look for the design.  Notice the white space is not necessarily white.  In this case, it is kraft!

This week, STAMPlorations is sponsoring us and is offering both our winner and a random participant a prize, so be sure and play along for your chance to win!  They're having a pre-release sale on their upcoming July stamps, so you'll want to go take a peek and grab some for your stash at 30% off!

Before you get started, be sure and visit the other design team members' blogs for explanations of their designs and to get to know them a bit more!  They are truly one-of-a-kind!

CASology #81: AND

And then she realized her calendar was full.  That's how I've been feeling recently, so please forgive me for a little silence now and then here on the blog!  I actually made this week's CASology card a few weeks ago, so that was a big help!  Such a little word, but lots came to mind for me.  With Valentine's Day just around the corner, hugs and kisses were one of the things that I thought of.  I ended up make a wedding/anniversary card.

This was such a simple design to put together!  The ampersand was stamped in black and then two little hearts were punched out of glitter cardstock and popped up with foam dots.  The entire main panel was popped up with foam dots also.

I hope you'll join us over at CASology this week as we explore what "and" brings to mind for everyone!  STAMPlorations is sponsoring us again this week and is offering a prize, so be sure and check it out and play along for your chance to win!  Before you start creating, be sure and visit the design team members' blogs as well as our guest designer's blog for inspiration!

Then, don't forget to link up your creation on the challenge blog by Sunday at 4:00 p.m. (CST)!

We spent the weekend with family as we attended our niece's one year birthday party.  Those are so much fun, aren't they?!  Made me realize all over again that DD will be reaching this milestone before we know it!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Monday Love

Well, hello there, Monday!  It's so nice to see you!  After a weekend full of sorting, decluttering and organizing in the kids' rooms (clothes sorting time of year...), it feels like we're off to a wonderfully fresh start!

With DH's help, I was able to get a couple cards created too!  Today, I'm sharing the card I made for this week's clean and simple border punch challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers.  I decided to use one of my favorite color combinations for a wedding/anniversary card.

Stamps:  Clearly Besotted
Paper:  Paper Trey cardstock (white), SU cardstock (Real Red, Tempting Turquoise), misc. red glitter cardstock
Ink:  Memento (Tuxedo Black)
Accessories:  SU scalloped edge punch, SU heart punch, foam dots

I simply created a layered banner with scalloped lower edges and then stamped my design.  I added a glittery heart by popping it up with a foam dot.

It's a cloudy one here today, but the day is off to a roaring start!  Looking forward to a quiet end to the week, so I need to keep focused on the tasks at hand these first few days!  I tried out a new baby sling with DD for the first time over the weekend and may be using it some more this week if she continues her catnapping trend!  She seemed to like it okay, so that is good.  I need to get her used to it as I've always loved the idea, but none of the boys liked them!  This is a new one I found that is really simple to use and, with the help of some good luck, it was practically free!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Masculine Monday: Blue

After a busy company-filled ending to last week, it was so relaxing to spend a little time in my craft room Saturday afternoon!  Amazingly, my mojo actually agreed to cooperate!

A somewhat masculine card evolved when I was playing along with this week's photo inspiration challenge on Splitcoast Stampers' Clean & Simple thread.

Stamps:  Paper Trey (sentiment)
Paper:  Paper Trey cardstock (kraft), SU cardstock (Pacific Point)
Ink:  SU (Elegant Eggplant), Memento (Tuxedo Black)
Accessories:  Nestabilities (heart), Spica Copic marker (black), woodgrain embossing folder, foam dots, scoring tool

I embossed the woodgrain pattern on the center panel and then lightly scored two lines to divide the panel into thirds.  I then die cut the heart out of the center of the panel.  I die cut another heart out of blue cardstock and sponged purple ink onto it to give it a little character.  I stamped the sentiment and then traced over it with a black Spica pen to add a little sparkle.  I popped up the main panel and then glued the blue heart down to the card base to fill the negative space.

This week is the beginning of swimming lessons for DS1 and DS2.  We'll see how this goes!  DS1 is less than enthused even though he had them last year and survived.  DS2 is enthused as of now, but will see what he says after his first lesson this morning!  I never cared for swimming lessons as a girl (was even scared of the water), so feel myself dreading this, but being very careful not to show my feelings and crossing my fingers the two of them will have a positive experience!  Knowing how to swim is such an important life skill!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Happy Anniversary, Darnell & Kevin!

Today is a very special day. You see, there is a special someone who is celebrating a special day with her special Mister.  That someone is Darnell, one of those people who makes me smile (& laugh out loud) when I read her blog posts!  She has a way with words that just brightens my day.  Every.  Time.  Ardyth over at Maskerade, has provided a link to link up your own wedding photo and, if you have some time, an anniversary card to honor Darnell's 42 years of wedded bliss!

So, Darnell, here's to many more happy, happy years for you and Mister (Kevin)!  I hope you have a wonderful anniversary!!!

Black & White

Prickley Pear stamps:  Poppies ClusterSpring Scalloped Circles (sentiment)
After a weekend of sweet birthday treats and a wonderful, long family bike ride, it's time to ease back into weekly routines!  This morning, swimming lessons begin for DS1, so I'm a bit nervous for him.  I didn't care for swimming lessons as a girl, so crossing my fingers he will like them (or tolerate them) better than I did!

Today, I'm sharing a simple anniversary card that I made for today's Design Team Monday over at Prickley Pear.  I simply stamped the poppies on the lower left of the main panel, the sentiment on the lower right and added a small cluster of gemstones to each blossom.  I layered this on a piece of black cardstock and mounted it all with foam dots onto the card base.  For an anniversary or wedding card, I really like black and white.  I don't always know the chosen colors for a wedding I'm attending, so black and white seems to be a pretty safe choice!

Tomorrow, I'll be back with my very first creation for CASology, the brand new CAS challenge blog!  Don't forget to go check it all out over there and follow along!  We've got some great CAS cards all ready to go for the first challenge!

Enjoy your Monday!

Happy Anniversary

Today is my parents' wedding anniversary.  Forty-two years, to be exact!  In honor of the occasion, I put together a card for them using a neutral color (SU's River Rock) for the base that I don't choose very often.  I grabbed it again after using it for Dynamic Duos' current color challenge.  I decided I should practice using it because it really is a nice color!

Colors:  SU's Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, River Rock, white
I wanted to create a zig zag (a.k.a. chevron) stripe to go along with the heart. Since I didn't have an actual chevron stripe die, I cut two strips of cardstock using the Pinking Border Die from The Cat's Pajamas and staggered them back to back.

Have yourself a great Tuesday!

Anniversary Cuteness

I wanted to get my first 2 Cute Rubber Stamps DT card finished up last night and posted for you this morning, but time wasn't in my favor.  We just got home from a 5-day vacation up in Michigan and we're still trying to catch up here at home from that!  The laundry is almost done, but the sleep schedules for three little boys are not quite back to normal yet.  Nor is mine.  We're getting there, though!

Technically, I didn't need to post my first 2 Cute creation until next week, but I couldn't resist playing with this adorable little cake image.  (Secretly, I'm a little late on a couple anniversaries in the family.)  Isn't this a cutie?!  The inside reads, "happy anniversary and many more to come!"

Stamps - 2 Cute Rubber Stamps (Wedding Cake, digital stamp), SU (A Word for You, inside sentiment)
Paper - SU Brushed Silver and Pretty in Pink CS, Gina K white CS, SEI DP (White Elegance)
Coloring - Copic Markers (C1, C3, C5, R20, R22)
Accessories - silver & white pearls, Nestabilities (squares, scalloped squares), foam squares (popped up main image and hearts), SU heart & ticket corner punches, SU white ribbon

Heart to Heart

I actually found some time to create a card today!  DH is busy getting the taxes done and the boys are having fun playing outside together.  It's a decent day, so I may just open a few windows and tackle washing the floors with my lemon scented cleaner!  I'm on a lemon kick lately and love everything lemon!  :)

Here's my card for today:

Stamps - SU Sweet Little Sentiments
Paper - Paper Trey white CS, SU Brushed Silver & Basic Gray CS
Ink - Staz On Black
Accessories - Tim Holtz Sizzix embossing folder, SU heart and eyelet border punches, pearls, SU white ribbon

Challenge:  SCS Inspiration Challenge

I'm leaving the inside blank for now as I can see this card being used as either a wedding or an anniversary card.
