A Muse Studio October Sneak Peeks: Day 3

A Muse Studio October Sneak Peeks: Day 3
Hello, everyone!  I'm back today during the third and final day of sneak peeks for the A Muse Studio October Release!  Tomorrow is release day!  Do you have your wish list finalized?! For today's card design, I used the new Peace Die in a clean and simple way to create a holiday card.  To begin, I die cut a stitched tag using a die from the Tag Bundle Die Set.  Next, I grabbed a piece of watercolor paper and spritzed a little water on an acrylic block, adding a Grass reinker to add color.  I squished the watercolor paper on top of the wet acrylic block and then allowed the paper to dry before die cutting the word with the Peace Die.  Once dry, a little sparkle was added with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  I die cut the word again near the bottom of the tag and then set the watercolor paper into the space.  I used the letter centers from the white tag to fill in the spaces in the centers of the letters.  To keep the die cut word flush with the tag, I simply attached it a little piece of cardstock to the back of the tag and glued the die cut pieces to that.  Finally, I stamped one of the cute little birds from the Season's Tweetings set, colored it with Copic markers and cut it out before popping it up with foam adhesive to add a little dimension. The assembled main panel was then adhered to the white card base using additional foam adhesive.  Another quick and easy holiday card design that could so easily be mass produced!  Be sure and head over to the A Muse Studio blog today to see even more inspiration from the design team and leave a comment!

CASology FLY

CASology FLY
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word over on the CASology challenge blog!  We're FLYing this week with Rubber Dance Stamps as our sponsor! Week 255 - Fly I used one of the pretty birds from the A Little Birdie... set to create a simple thank you design.  I used white watercolor paper and splattered brown watercolor paint on it to create a simple neutral colored background.  Once dried, I stamped the bird image in black ink.  I kept things very clean and simple by not coloring the image at all!  The sentiment (from the Just A Note set) was stamped beside the bird in black and then three clear round drops were added as embellishments to add a little interest and dimension.  The assembled main panel was framed with black cardstock before being attached to the white card base using foam adhesive. I hope you'll take a little time this week to visit the design team member and guest designer blogs and leave a little blog love for them!  They've created yet another round of fantastic inspiration! A Muse Just a Note

A Muse Just a Note
Happy Monday!  It's a sunny one here and a welcome warm up is on the way!  It's so strange not having any snow on the ground mid-February! I dug out my neglected kraft cardstock last week to create a quick "just a note" card.  It seems like I go in cycles with kraft card stock.  Some weeks, it's all I use.  Other times, I go months without even thinking about it! I've been exploring my stash of stamps a little more lately and discovering I have some oldies, but goodies, hidden away!  This older stamp set from A Muse Studio caught my eye and I thought it would be perfect with kraft cardstock!  I stamped the flowers in StampinUp!'s Soft Suede ink and then stamped the birds in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The little birds were fussy cut and sparkle added with a Crafter's Companion Clear Overlay Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen before being popped up with foam dots for dimension. I love how quickly this design came together!  I often need a simple card for general correspondence and this will be perfect!

Have a marvelous Monday & don't forget tomorrow is Valentine's Day!

CASology LAUGH-ter

They say laughter is the best medicine.  If you're in need of a little laughter therapy, you'll want to head on over to CASology this week and play along with the newest cue word challenge!
Stamps:  Pink and Main (Old Crow, Oh Snap)
Pink and Main is our sponsor this week and, after looking through some of their adorable stamp sets, an idea formed in my head.  A silly one, I know.  Has ever happened to you?!  I don't expect you to admit it, of course. After die cutting the stitched main panel, I stamped the cute crow & colored the beak and legs with a Copic marker.  I created the little yellow puddle with watercolors and then stamped the fun sentiment.  The main panel is popped up with foam dots to add a little dimension. Be sure and go say a quick hello to the design team members & this week's guest designer!  They work so hard each week to create inspiration!

Prickley Pear Bird Greetings

It's Monday and time for more Prickley Pear inspiration!  I think most of us are feeling the need for spring's arrival about now.  I, for one, am hoping for an early spring this year, but not letting my hopes get too high.  Mother Nature always seems to have a mind of her own!

I went with a spring looking image for today's card.  It's the cute new Singing Bluebirds image!

I used a sentiment from the Butterflies Clear set since it goes along with this image well.  The image was colored with Copic markers & a touch of sparkle was added to the blossoms using a Wink of Stella brush marker.

Be sure and check out the Prickley Pear blog for more Monday inspiration from the design team!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Just a Note

Here I am posting a second card for the day. I guess I am on a card making kick this week with the winds blowing and rain brewing. Believe it or not, we haven't seen a raindrop yet today despite the 60-80% chance they've forecasted! Maybe the clouds are just waiting to dump everything on us all at once later?

I decided to play along with the monochromatic color scheme over at Dynamic Duos and, once again, I'm entering pretty close to the cut off time!  I'm also using a bird as my main image again, so please excuse my lack of variety, Dynamic Duos design team!  I just thought this image would look rather dashing in Midnight Muse ink!

Stamps:  Hero Arts, Uniko Studio (sentiment)
Paper:  Paper Trey cardstock (white)
Ink:  SU (Midnight Muse)
Accessories:  light blue gemstone, SU marker (Midnight Muse), Stickles (Waterfall)

I stamped the bird and sentiment and then drew the music note stem with a marker and covered it with a little Stickles for shine.  I added the light blue gemstone note last.

It's a pretty quiet day here on the home front today and I'm feeling a bit tired, so there may be some more craft time in my near future once DS3's nap time begins!  I promise I won't post anything else until at least tomorrow, though!

Bird Gathering

I don't know how many times over the past few weeks I've told myself I was going to play along with the color challenges over at Dynamic Duos! Today I made it a point to do just that, but almost ran out of time!  The colors are one of my favorite combinations, so I really couldn't resist any longer!

I immediately thought of these little birds...

Stamp:  Verve (sentiment from Chicks Rule set), A Muse (Chevrons)
Paper:  SU cardstock (Pacific Point, Basic Black), Paper Trey cardstock (white)
Accessories:  Memory Box die (Resting Birds), foam dots

My maiden name is the name of a bird, so with my side of the family descending upon our house for the upcoming holiday weekend, how could I not make a bird card?!  Yes, I'm a bit of a bird brain...

I popped up all five of the feathered friends for dimension after stamping a single chevron stripe.  I came across the sentiment in my Verve Stamps stash while searching for that perfect font and sentiment to use.

I'm busy being the obsessive-compulsive planner that I am when it comes to family event planning.  There will be eight children to entertain with a good chance of rain in the forecast!  Ages?  Four months up to 11, mostly boys.  I'm thinking Memorial Day cupcake decorations sound pretty fun!

Enjoy your Thursday!

Sing

"A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song."

We're off to the fair today!  Everyone is so excited!  Excited to see the animals.  Excited to see the sights.  Excited to smell the food.  Excited to eat a funnel cake.  Excited to drink some fresh lemonade.  Thank goodness it only happens once a year or I might be sporting a funnel cake or two around my middle!

I stamped a quick card for today using a Fiskars set I've had in my stash.  I'm loving my stash this summer!  Keeps me out of my crafty piggy bank while I save up for more exciting things!  As long as I don't look, I don't want and as long as I don't want, things are a whole lot easier!  Contentment is my comfort food.

Have a very Happy Thursday!

Unity Friends with Flair

It's been at least a couple weeks since I joined in the Friday fun at Unity, so I thought I'd create a card for today and play along!  It's a Friday blog hop with Unity creations and there are free stamps to be won!

I used a bird image for my CAS card today.  I had a little strip of leftover cardstock I'd stamped with a chevron pattern and put it to use!  I also added some yellow Stickles to the circle frame for a little sparkle.  Of course, some gemstones found their way onto the finished card too!  I absolutely love the sentiment!

I've got a painting project to finish up today.  I always love picking out new colors and putting a fresh coat of paint on things!  I only wish I didn't run out of steam after painting a couple days.  I'd get things done on my painting wish list so much faster!  Ah well, it's getting a bit hot to be painting indoors anyway.  I like to have the windows open and it's supposed to get up near 90 degrees this weekend!  Better go get the last coat on before it heats up today!  The boys are busy playing with bubbles and I try to work on things when they are preoccupied!  :)

I hope you have a wonderful Friday!  I'll be back tomorrow with a new color challenge from Dynamic Duos!
