It's time for a new CASology cue word and we're focusing on those pretty little critters that we tend to associate with warmer months!  These are also associated with Valentine's Day and love, so the gallery should prove to be an interesting one this week! I chose to use a piece of watercolor paper to add a little texture to the design, applying color to it with some of my favorite Heidi Swapp Color Shine sprays and die cutting it with a stitched rectangle die.  Both the butterfly (Unity) and sentiment were stamped in black ink.  The finished main panel was popped up on the card base using foam adhesive to add a little dimension.

Birthday Butterflies

Stamps:  STAMPlorations

One more birthday card this week!  I guess birthdays must be on my mind!  I wanted to showcase the wonderful stamps from STAMPlorations, our sponsor over at CASology!

I stamped the patterned background using an image from the Mini Mixed Media set.  I stamped two of the butterflies (Trendy Butterflies set) directly onto the background image and then a third onto a piece of white cardstock before fussy cutting it.  It was then popped up with a foam dot and a clear gemstone was added to one of its wings.  So simple!

I'm also linking this up with the Anything Goes Challenge over at STAMPlorations.

Have a fantastic Friday!

Happy new week to you!  I survived a weekend with a house filled with energetic boys, wrestling, loud noise and plenty of laughter!  When cousins get together, the fun really begins!

It's time for some Prickley Pear sharing and today I have a very simple butterfly card for you...with a little chevron thrown in for good measure, of course!  I also used my favorite color combination!  All in all, a card that I can truly say is very much my style.

Stamps:  Prickley Pear (Hibiscus 2 set - sentiment, Mini Butterflies set)
I used the coordinating Mini Butterflies die and added a tiny red gemstone to accentuate the simple sentiment.  Looking at this card now, the center panel almost reminds me of one of those name tags a person wears at a seminar!  Those things are never very pretty, though!

Another full week ahead in our household!  Vacation time is quickly approaching and I need to shift gears to get preparation plans going!

I hope you have a great Monday!

See you tomorrow with the new cue word for CASology!

Butterfly Beauty

I've been looking through my butterfly stamps lately and realizing again how much I admire those little creatures!  So elegant.  So fun to watch.

I remembered a butterfly themed sentiment stamp that I had in my stash and dug it out.  I used it on the card and then decided it was too much and removed it, choosing a single word instead.  Funny how the stamp that started the whole creative process for this card was abandoned!  That's how it goes sometimes!

Stamps:  The Craft's Meow (butterfly), Paper Trey (sentiment)
I'm about ready to research rain dancing!  We are so dry here that the lawn is actually crunchy under our feet now!  The grass reminds me of winter, but thankfully, the trees are still green with leaves!  I don't know when we mowed last?!

Off to our final day of swimming lessons and then errands.  I love it when errands consist of drop offs and drive thru type things (no, not fast food...lol)!  That means less buckling and unbuckling of little ones!  It's those little things sometimes for a mom, you know, that make a big difference!

Have a terrific Thursday!

A Little Pink

Prickley Pear:  Thank Heaven (sentiment), Mini Butterflies Die

After a weekend of decluttering and organizing, I'm ready to return to the daily routine!  I love the end result of such a project, but what a mess sometimes!  It needed done.  We've lived here two years now and haven't really felt like we're completely settled because we haven't taken the time to stop and think about how to best organize some of the main rooms!  Granted, we moved here two weeks before DS3 was born and things were a little crazy for a while, but it's time to buckle down and focus on getting things in place around here!  Next up?  The pantry.  Wish us luck...

Since it's Monday, it's time for a Prickley Pear creation.  When I received the sentiment stamp in the mail, I wondered how I was going to use it as most of my stamps and papers revolve around little boys in this household of male dominance!  I do have one niece who I feel a bit sorry for sometimes with all the boys she's surrounded with, so it may come in handy!

Switching gears to pink, I found some girly pink decorative paper and went to work.  I used my mini butterflies die to cut out three butterflies, dry embossed the largest one, added gemstones and adhered them in what I hope is a decent pattern!  I rounded the card corners to soften things a bit and my card was complete!  I keep looking at it, trying to figure out if there is something else I should add, but I think I like the simplicity of it!

Now off to my day!  The sun is shining and it looks like it's going to be a rather warm one!

Happy Monday!

Monarch Inspiration

After ending last week with a bedroom painting project and a family road trip to the zoo, it's back to the daily routines and another week of summer vacation!

For Prickley Pear's Design Team Monday, I have a very simple, butterfly card to share with you!  I've been seeing some Monarch butterflies fluttering around lately and their distinctive black and orange color served as my inspiration!

I used Prickley Pear's Clearly Beautiful Butterflies set and the coordinating Butterfly Die.

Celebrate Today

Do you celebrate Monday?

I love Mondays when I'm rested and refreshed from a weekend.  If I'm feeling tired, Mondays aren't all that special.  In fact, they can be painful.  Given enough coffee, however, they quickly become bearable.

I'm a bit tired from a weekend full of grandparent fun, but it's a content tired, so that helps!  Our boys have been happily spoiled and have been absolutely exhausted from it all every night!  Only grandparents can work that kind of magic.

For today's Prickley Pear creation, I used some My Mind's Eye DP (one of my favorite companies).  I chose SU's Night of Navy, Pool Party and Old Olive for cardstock colors.  I used Prickley Pear's Scalloped Circle and Mini Butterflies Dies along with the Clearly Beautiful Spring Scalloped Circles Stamp Set.

Flowers & Butterflies

I can get myself into trouble over Unity Stamps if I'm not careful.  The company has so many wonderful stamps that it's hard to choose just one or two stamps or stamp sets at a time!  Thank goodness for the Kit of the Month Club because that seems to keep my Unity cravings at bay!

Unity is the sponsor over at The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog this month and I can't tell you how excited I am about it!  The theme for this month's challenge is Handmade flowers with butterflies.  To be honest, I have never made a flower before other than punching one out with a paper punch!  *gasp!*  Yes, it's true!  I have a couple flower dies in my stash, but just hadn't taken the time to use them until this challenge forced me into action!  Now that the first step has been taken, I can see myself playing with handmade flowers more often!

My card for the challenge uses stamps from one of my Kit of the Month kits and the flower was made using a Sizzix die.  The ribbon is Stampin' Up! and the decorative paper is from Echo Park.

Mother’s Day

"If at first you don't succeed; do it the way your mother told you to."

Mother's Day is just around the corner and I decided that, this year, I was going to have my cards made and ready to go in the mail ahead of time!  Well, they are ready...just two days early (I need to mail them.)!

My own mother has always lived life rather simply.  She's not given to show or competitive in nature.  She's never felt the need to "keep up with the Jones."  She has always been a quiet, steady example to us and, despite her secret struggles in life, we have always felt nurtured, loved and secure.  Now that I'm a mother, sometimes I wonder how she kept it all together so well with four of us to look after!

With my card for today, I used a simple card design and chose a delicate butterfly as the main image!  I had to use purple since that's Mom's favorite color.

Now I'm off to run errands and enjoy the beautiful sunshine that's to be ours today!

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

Marvelous. That's what butterflies are. I can't help but stop and watch one whenever I see one fluttering by! What is it about them that's so intriguing?

I keep reaching for Prickley Pear's Mini Butterflies Clear Stamp Set lately!  It's just full of pretty butterflies and has a coordinating die!

CLR023 Mini Butterflies

For my card today, I used one of the butterflies in the Mini Butterflies set, a flower stem from the Mini Owls clear set and the Marvelous sentiment stamp.  I love combining single stamps and stamp sets to create a card!  Sometimes I find an image that works really well with those from another stamp set!

Have a great Monday!

Butterfly Tree

(Note:  Be sure and scroll down as there are two posts for today!)

A mild, warm week ahead and I'm envisioning parks and lots of outdoor activities!  Is it really March?!  S-M-I-L-E!

It's Prickley Pear Monday!  I used the new Butterfly Tree to create today's card.  I stamped the tree in Whisper White ink and then stamped just a few of the butterflies in Real Red ink.  I then cut out one of the red butterflies and adhered it to the tree using a foam dot.  I also added a few gemstones for a little extra sparkle and interest.

Stamps - Prickley Pear (Butterfly Tree)
Paper - Paper Trey white cardstock, SU cardstocks (Real Red, Basic Black)
Ink - SU (Whisper White, Real Red)
Accessories - gemstones, SU taffeta ribbon (Real Red), foam dot (popped up white butterfly)

Life in Dreams

Happy, Happy Monday!  I hope your weekend was enjoyable and you had a little time to relax a bit!  For me, even a 10-minute cat nap does wonders in the middle of life's daily activities and the weekend is usually when I find that little snippet of time for such a luxury.

Today, I'm sharing a card I made Sunday afternoon while the wind was whipping wildly around the house and the sun was calmly smiling down, unfazed.  It's another clean and simple (CAS) card, but I'm on a CAS kick these days and rather enjoying myself!

Stamps - Prickley Pear (Glimpses - sentiment, Mini Butterflies Clear Stamp Set)
Paper - textured white cardstock, SU Basic Black (textured) & Real Red cardstocks
Ink - SU Basic Black & Real Red
Accessories - Prickley Pear Mini Butterflies Dies, red gemstones, foam dots (popped up red butterfly)
