A Muse Studio August Collection New Release Day!

A Muse Studio August Collection New Release Day!
Today is release day over at A Muse Studio and you're going to love it all! logo I created a modern looking design for the first card in my post today.  It reminds me a little of some of the decor in the hotels these days with bold color blocks!  I simply cut three strips of varying colors (Orange, Grass, Buttercup) to create a square main panel, adhering them to a square piece of Sugar cardstock.  Once assembled, I stamped a row of three leaves (Bouquet Builder set) on the center of the panel.  The main panel was then popped up on the card base (5x5) with foam adhesive for dimension and the simple sentiment was stamped below and slightly to the right. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard6 closeup For my second card, I used the ice cream cone image from the You're Cool stamp set. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard10 blog I simply stamped three cones, die cut them using the coordinating dies and colored them by spritzing each one with a different color Splash spray!  Super easy coloring!  Once dry, I colored the cone portion with a brown Copic marker and applied a little glitter to the ice cream using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The cones were then popped up with foam adhesive and the banner sentiment (from the same set) was stamped below in black ink. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard10 closeup For a limited time, you can get this set FREE with any $35 purchase!  How great is that?! You're Cool Set So much fun and versatility in these new sets!  Summer blooms and ice cream?!  I'm loving these!  Go check them out in the online store!

Have a fabulous Friday!

A Muse Studio August Collection Sneak Peek, Day 1

A Muse Studio August Collection Sneak Peek, Day 1
It's release week over at A Muse Studio!  The August Collection will be in the online store on Friday, so we're sharing sneak peeks until then!  For today, I thought I'd show you a card made with Southern Bouquet, an absolutely gorgeous floral set! logo I started by stamping the bouquet image in black ink, cutting it out with the coordinating die and then used a water brush with a variety of pigment inks to color.  While this was drying, I die cut a stitched panel using one of the dies from A Muse's Tag Bundle to use as the main panel of the design.  On this, I stamped the sentiment in black.  Once the bouquet was dry, I added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The bouquet was popped up to one side of the main panel using foam adhesive and then the main panel was popped up on the cardbase using additional foam adhesive. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard5 closeup I love how this bouquet image really stands out all by itself!  So many color possibilities with this and perfect for most any occasion involving flowers! Stay tuned for more new release inspiration tomorrow!  We have three days of sneak peeks this week and then the entire August Collection will be available in the online store this Friday!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

CASology DIAMOND

CASology DIAMOND
It's time for a new cue word over at CASology!  This week's gallery will be filled with diamonds.  Sounds great, no?! Week 258 - Diamond I thought about this one for a while before settling on a kite image that I found in my stash.  I happen to love kites.  They make me feel like a kid all over again every time I get the opportunity to fly one.  That is, until I run around for a while and notice I'm not quite as spry as I used to be! I started this design by watercoloring two overlapping, shimmery clouds with pearlescent watercolors on a die cut stitched panel (A Muse Studio Tag Bundle dies) of watercolor paper using a Clouds stencil by STAMPlorations.  The kite is from a retired StampinUp! set called Send Me Soaring.  The string was stamped in black ink and then the kite was stamped in red ink before being fussy cut and popped up with foam adhesive.  The sentiment (from Honey Bee Stamps' Message in a Bottle set) was stamped in black ink and three silver star sequins were added as embellishments.  The finished main panel was popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension.  I added just a touch of sparkle to the kite using a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen. 2017 July18 DIAMOND closeup I hope you'll take a little time and visit the blogs of the design team members as well as our guest designer!  They'd love to hear from you! I created a card using the new Ocean Bliss stamp set and coordinating dies.  What a fun set!  The little mermaid is so sweet! 2017 July NewReleaseHop2 WM I cut the main panel using the A2 Double Stitched Frames Dies and then inked the background using Distress Oxide Inks.  I stamped the mermaid and sentiment in black ink & then colored with Copic Markers.  The mermaid was then popped up the image with foam dots on the main panel.  To finish this design, I added a touch of sparkle to the seashell using a Wink of Stella clear brush marker and added three little rhinestones.  The finished main panel was then popped up on the card base using foam adhesive. For my second card, I used the Message in a Bottle set.  This set contains so many fun options for inside the bottle! 2017 July NewReleaseHop1 WM I stamped the bottle in black twice, once on a piece of white cardstock and again on a piece of window sheet.  The water image was stamped on the cardstock in blue and I added some sand along the edge for some texture.  I stamped the cork image on a piece of thin cork and cut it out, adhering it to the assembled bottle.  The main image was then popped up on a piece of kraft cardstock with foam adhesive for dimension.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink. CASology WISH

CASology WISH
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  It's all about wishes this week. Week 257 - Wish I chose to use a Uniko Studio image, our sponsor this week!  I love their sentiment sets and the Big & Bold - Wish set is one of my favorites!  I used blue and purple Distress Oxide inks to create the rich colored background, spritzing the dried panel with Heidi Swapp white Color Shine spray.  I stamped the bold sentiment and coordinating smaller sentiment in Versafine black ink.  Three little gold star sequins were added as embellishments and then the finished main panel was layered on top of a piece of black cardstock to frame the design.  The assembled piece was popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. I love that this design could be varied simply by changing the background colors!  Need a masculine card?  No problem!  Just add more masculine colors! I hope you'll play along with us this week!  The word WISH can be interpreted so many ways!  I almost went with a fairy tale theme!  Go say hello to the design team members when you get a chance!  They'd love to hear from you!

Honey Bee Stamps Feathered Thanks

Honey Bee Stamps Feathered Thanks
I'm back today to share some feather inspiration using Honey Bee Stamps images!  I love feather images and the Ten Things set has three pretty feather images to choose from! 2017 Honey Bee DT Badge I watercolored a pretty pearlescent blue onto a panel of watercolor cardstock to create a background for the images.  Once this was dry, I stamped three of the same feather image in a row using black ink and varying the orientation.  The simple sentiment is actually just a portion of one of the sentiments in the set, selectively colored and stamped beneath the main images.  The finished main panel was framed with a piece of black cardstock and then popped up on the cardbase using foam adhesive squares for dimension. 2017 July5 closeup I ended up really loving this particular design.  Not only is is super simple, but it could be used for so many different occasions, including sympathy cards! I hope you're getting as excited as I am for the upcoming new release scheduled for next week!  I'll be sharing sneak peeks the first part of the week and then there is a fun blog hop planned for Friday, July 14th!  Stay tuned!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

CASology PIZZA

CASology PIZZA
It's Independence Day here in the U.S.A!  I'm spending time with extended family for the holiday, but am writing this post ahead of time so it will post while I'm enjoying my time away! Week 256 - Pizza Over at CASology, we're introducing a brand new cue word and having a pizza party in the gallery!  With SugarPea Designs as our sponsor this week, I chose to use one of their adorable fox images (Fall Fox set), pairing it with pizza themed things from Lawn Fawn's Pizza My Heart set. 2017 July4 PIZZA closeup The fox was colored with Copic markers.  I added polka dots to the jacket with my Copic blender pen.  The lower two pizza boxes were masked and then I stamped, fussy cut and popped up the top box with foam adhesive for dimension.  I stamped a little red heart on the main panel, adding sparkle with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Glitter pen.  The main panel was die cut with a stitched die from the Mama Elephant Femme Frames die set. I hope you'll go check out the inspiration on the design team members' blogs as well as our guest designer's blog!  They'd love to hear from you! DT Badge

A Blog Named Hero July Floral Challenge

A Blog Named Hero July Floral Challenge
It's time to begin a brand new monthly challenge them over at A Blog Named Hero!  This month our theme is Florals and our sponsor is Winnie & Walter! 2017 JulyChallengeLogo Have you seen all the pretty floral images over at the Winnie & Walter online store?!  I chose to use the The Big, the Bold and Extras set along a large sentiment from their The Big, the Bold and the Happy set to create this design.  I paired them with a simple patterned image from the Hero Arts Busy As A set, layering the elements. Using Hero Arts Butter Bar ink, I inked up the image and spritzed it very lightly with water before stamping it on white cardstock.  This gave the image a lightly mottled look. I then stamped the outline of the flower in black before die cutting it with the coordinating dies.  Next, I stamped the honeycomb designed line from the Hero Arts set directly on the card base with black ink and stamped the leaf silhouettes on the left edge before popping the flower up with foam adhesive.  The bold sentiment was stamped directly on on top of the honeycomb patterned link in black ink.  To finish the design, I applied some sparkle with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Glitter Brush pen. 2017 July3 Challenge closeup I hope you'll join us this month for our Floral theme!  Such a perfect one for this time of year and I happen to personally love yellow and orange roses!  I might just have to recreate this design in orange! First Day on the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team!

First Day on the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team!
I'm feeling a bit excited as I'm now officially beginning my position on the Honey Bee Stamps Social Media Design Team!  I get to share designs using their fantastic stamps all over social media in the months ahead!  How fun is that?! 2017 Honey Bee DT Badge I have some wedding anniversaries coming up in my extended family this summer, so thought I'd design something with that type of theme.  I used a large sentiment with a pretty font from the Happiness Stamp Set and paired it with a smaller sentiment with a clean font from the same set.  This design is a classic black, white and red one!  The little heart is from the Simple Sentiments Set.  I added a little red glitter to it for some sparkle and then added a sticky black rhinestone to the "i" of the large sentiment.  The main panel was die cut using one of the A2 Double Stitched Frames Dies.  To create a little interest, I cut a small banner out of a piece of Zen Floral Washi tape and adhered it to the upper left corner.  The assembled main panel was then popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. This is a very clean & simple design that can be recreated easily! Stay tuned for more Honey Bee inspiration each week and get ready for a brand new release in July!     SaveContinue Reading...

CASology FLY

CASology FLY
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word over on the CASology challenge blog!  We're FLYing this week with Rubber Dance Stamps as our sponsor! Week 255 - Fly I used one of the pretty birds from the A Little Birdie... set to create a simple thank you design.  I used white watercolor paper and splattered brown watercolor paint on it to create a simple neutral colored background.  Once dried, I stamped the bird image in black ink.  I kept things very clean and simple by not coloring the image at all!  The sentiment (from the Just A Note set) was stamped beside the bird in black and then three clear round drops were added as embellishments to add a little interest and dimension.  The assembled main panel was framed with black cardstock before being attached to the white card base using foam adhesive. I hope you'll take a little time this week to visit the design team member and guest designer blogs and leave a little blog love for them!  They've created yet another round of fantastic inspiration! It's here!  The A Muse Studio July Collection is now available in the online store!  Beautiful blooms abound!  Just take a look at these... I created a monochromatic collage on the design above using the leaf sprig silhouette from the new Summer Blooms set using Grass, Evergreen and Mermaid inks.  The wonderful, bold sentiment was stamped in black ink on top of the collage.  I mounted the main panel on a piece of Onyx cardstock to frame it a bit and the used foam adhesive to attach the assembled piece to the Sugar cardstock base. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa7 closeup For my next card design, I used the new Banner Sentiments set & coordinating Be Brave dies to accent a couple other stamp sets in the store. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa6 blog The bloom was stamped on Hibiscus cardstock with Hibiscus pigment ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder to give it a little shine.  The Hexagon Background and bee (from the Bee Happy set) were stamped in black ink.  The sentiment (Bee Happy set) and banner (Banner Sentiments set) were also stamped in black and cut out using a Banner Die.  The flower, bee, and banner were all popped up with foam adhesive to add dimension to the design.  The assembled main panel was framed with a piece of Onyx cardstock before being popped up on the Sugar cardstock base with foam adhesive. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa6 closeup I used the flower from the new Dear Friend set to create my next card. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa4 blog The flower is stamped in Hibiscus ink and cut out using the coordinating die.  The leaves are stamped in Grass ink onto a stitched tag from the Tag Bundle Die Set.  Then sentiment and line of grass are both from the Be Brave stamp set.  The assembled tag is popped up on the Sugar cardstock base using foam adhesive for dimension. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa4 closeup Be sure and check out the A Muse Studio Instagram page as you can get this pretty Dear Friend set for FREE ($2 shipping, USA only) by following A Muse on Instagram, liking the giveaway photo and tagging two friends!  Easy as that!
