A CASology CUT

A CASology CUT
It's Tuesday and a new cue word is up for brainstorming over at CASology!  We're going with a small word, but it has many interpretations you could go with!  With STAMPlorations as our sponsor this week, the design team used many of the word die cuts found in the online store to create their CAS designs! I'd chosen the word "Hugs" and used it to create a valentine type card.  I used a pale aqua blue along with pops of red for the main color scheme.  The clouds were stenciled with STAMPlorations' Clouds ARTplorations stencil and white ink.  I stamped a red heart balloon from the Balloons and Banners stamp set, fussy cutting it and dressing it up with red glitter.  It was then adhered to the main panel using foam dots. 2017 Jan17 CUT peek The "hugs" was die cut with the Hugs Word Die polka dot paper using polka dot decorative paper and adhered directly to the main panel.  The assembled main panel was then adhered to the card base using foam dots for dimension. I hope you'll take a little time to visit the design team members' and guest designer's blogs and leave a little blog love this week!  I know they'd love to hear from you!

Winter Greetings

Winter Greetings
Just a quick little hello from my icy spot on the map today!  I had a little time last night to whip up a handful of cards for upcoming due dates on the creative calendar and was inspired by the weather to make a winter themed card too! 2017 Jan16 HappyWinterPine WM Rubber Dance Stamps was our sponsor for last week's FOREST challenge and I just had to use one of the pine images again from the Pines Fir Yew set!  So lovely!  Given that we are a bit iced over here right now due to freezing rain, I added Crystal Effects to the pine image to give it the look of ice.  I really like it!  I simply added three tiny, clear sequins as embellishments after stamping the pretty sentiment and called it good. I hope your week is off to a good start!  It's looking like we'll be thawed out in a day or two and we're looking forward to unseasonably warm temperatures later in the week!  The weather this winter has been a little strange.

Happy Monday!

CASology in the Forest

CASology in the Forest
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  We're taking a hike into the forest and can't wait to see what we find in the gallery! week-231-forest With Rubber Dance Stamps as our sponsor again this week, I used their fantastic Pines Fir Yew set to create a clean & simple design!  I stamped the pine image on kraft cardstock and framed it with a stitched journal card die from my stash.  The pine cones were stamped, fussy cut and dressed up with a little sparkle & frost from a white Wink of Stella brush marker.  These were then popped up for a little added dimension.  I added layered green & red sequins after stamping the selectively inked sentiment in black.  I love the woodsy feel of this card.  The multiple pine images in this set make it quite versatile for creating a variety of looks!  This set is the prize for this week's winner, so be sure and link up your own creation for a chance to win it! A Blog Named Hero January Challenge

A Blog Named Hero January Challenge
Today is the first challenge of 2017 over at A Blog Named Hero!  The challenge theme for January is "New to Me."  Just dig out anything new to you in your stash or use a new technique to create a card!  Easy peasy! 2017-jan-challengelogo Right At Home Stamps is sponsoring and we're showcasing two of their brand new stamp sets! 2017-jan-rightathome-logo If you're a coffee lover, you're going to love How Have You Bean? and Cup of Joy! 2017-jan-rightathome-newsets I used How Have You Bean? along with Hero Arts' LOL set to create a little smart phone message. The phone was stamped in black ink and fussy cut before applying Glossy Accents to it.  I wanted the phone to have a realistic shine!  Once the Glossy Accents was dry, I selectively stamped the sentiments and coffee bean images.  The coffee beans were colored with a Copic marker.  Three tiny gold sequin stars were adhered as embellishments.  The finished phone was then attached to the kraft card base using foam dots to add a little dimension.  The polka dot washi tape was added last. I just love this particular sentiment!  It's so true for me right now when life gets hectic.  There's nothing quite like a soothing cup of hot coffee to sip on at the beginning of a day to ease into things! I hope you'll join in this month's challenge!  There's lots of excitement ahead over at A Blog Named Hero this year, so you'll want to keep up-to-date by participating in the monthly challenges or follow along on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter.

Happy New Year!

Run with Your Heart

Run with Your Heart
So many times, my New Year's resolutions include running goals.  This upcoming year will be no different.  I began running back in high school and have continued to run over the years since then.  Many runners will tell you that it's an addicting form of exercise and I'd have to agree with them.  I'm not big into competitions or races, but I enjoy a good run that clears my mind and energizes me for living life.  In more recent years, I've been so inspired by people close to me who have taken up running and have seen big life changes because of it.  On those days I find myself grumbling about lacing up my running shoes and heading out on a run, I think of them and it inspires me to just get it done! I love Simon Says Stamp's Running with Your Heart set and made a monochromatic design with it.  The main image was stamped in black ink and fussy cut.  I added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker and added a tiny red heart for a little visual interest.  I popped up the finished main image with foam dots for dimension.

Here's to a happy and healthy 2017!

A Spoonful of Sugar

A Spoonful of Sugar
I had a little crafting time last week and made a few cards for posts ahead of time as I knew this week would be a busy one for me with extended family! Valentine's Day is beginning to take over my creative mind as the new year approaches!  I came across Concord & 9th's Let's Chat set and used it along with some small images from the Birdie Banners set to create this simple valentine themed design. The circle was stamped first in gray ink and then the pretty sentiment was stamped on top.  The spoon was stamped and fussy cut before being popped up with foam dots.  A little sparkle was added to the spoon using a Wink of Stella brush marker.  The little heart was stamped, fussy cut and then popped up with foam dots.  I added subtle grains of sugar coming from the spoon using the little dots image from the Birdie Banners set. I hope you had a very happy weekend!  Onward to the new year!  I'm reflecting on 2016 and trying to make some resolutions for the new year ahead.  Little ones, though, because it's the little things that make the big things happen!

Happy Tuesday!

Let It Snow!

Let It Snow!
Happy Weekend!  Just a super simple winter themed card today as the busy holiday weekend begins! I came across this lovely snowflake ribbon die over at Simon Says Stamp and had to have it!  You know how that goes!  I die cut the snowflake and added silver sparkle to it with a silver Wink of Stella brush.  The sentiment is from Uniko Studio's Stunning Snowflakes set.  Oh, how I love the fonts on their sentiments!  I added three tiny clear sequins for embelishments.  The entire main panel is mounted on black card stock and popped up with foam dots.

Have a lovely weekend!

Sympathy Simplicity in a Card

Sympathy Simplicity in a Card
Wow, this week is flying!  Here it is Thursday, which means tomorrow is Friday and a busy weekend is ahead!  Spending time with extended family is in our plans.  What about you?  Will you be able to spend some extra time with loved ones this weekend or in the week between Christmas and New Year's Day? The dental office I work at requested some sympathy cards a while back.  It seems they've needed quite a few in recent weeks and like to have some handmade ones to send out to our patients and their families when the need arises.  I thought I'd share one of the designs I gave them. I die cut and stamped a simple feather image.  I popped it up on a white card base at a diagonal and aligned a simple sympathy sentiment alongside in the same color.  I love the look of monochromatic cards! I won't make this post long as I know most people are in the middle of holiday preparations this time of year!

Happy Thursday!

2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop
Happy Friday!  I had a little extra craft time yesterday and made another card for the oh-so-fun Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop with the help of a little of that creative fuel called coffee!  It seems like I've been drinking more of it the last couple weeks as winter weather finally settles in around me! Winter 2016 Blog Hop I've been itching to use the fantastic Sip on This set from Clear & Simple Stamps!  I stamped the different sections of the cup in red and green and then added some sparkle with a Clear Wink of Stella Brush Marker.  The popped up circle is die cut using a Nestabilities circle die and stenciled with green ink using The Crafter's Workshop Mini Microbial Stencil.  The coffee cup is popped up right next to the circle with a little thicker foam dot to make it slightly higher.  The fun sentiment is also from the Sip on This set and is stamped in black.  I added some simple gold star and clear circle sequins as embellishments.  I am in love with this stamp set and, now that I've finally inked it up, I can't wait to brainstorm for more coffee themed designs! Clear and Simple Stamps Only a few more hours to link up to the 2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  I'm ready to start hopping myself, so need to grab some decaf this evening and go check out some of the inspiration in the hop's gallery!  Can't wait! Have a wonderful weekend!Continue Reading...

CASology BOW

CASology BOW
It's Tuesday and you know what that means!  A new cue word challenge is up over at CASology!  This week, it's all about the bow and whichever definition you decide to use for inspiration! week-228-bow I went with the definition that goes along with the season as people are busy wrapping presents and gearing up for the upcoming holiday! Winter 2016 Blog Hop This week is the Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, so I just had to incorporate some sort of coffee cup into my design!  I used the cup in Uniko Studio's I LOVE Coffee stamp set and paper pieced it with decorative paper from Cosmo Cricket to make it look like one of those lovely red Starbucks cups!  I stamped and fussy cut the bow from an older Uniko set, adding sparkle with a Wink of Stella brush.  The main panel is die cut with a My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Rectangle die.  I tilted the cup, main panel and bow a bit to create a little visual interest as I just wasn't feeling it when I had everything perfectly straight!  The coffee cup is popped up with foam dots as well as the entire assembled main panel.  I love the contrast of the traditional red and green holiday colors. I hope you'll bop on over to the guest designer and design team members' blogs and say hello!  They work diligently each week to create inspiration and would love to hear from you! Remember to link up your own CAS design on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CST) for you chance to win the prize from this week's sponsor, Birch Press Design! 2016-birch-press-design-logo
