CASology with ICING

CASology with ICING
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  Brainstorming should be rather sweet this week. Week 243 - Icing I used an older Hero Arts robot wooden stamp for this design.  It's from the 3 Robots set.  The simple, clean font sentiment is from the more recent Hero Arts Birthday Animal Silhouettes set.  I stamped the robot first in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, coloring it with Copic markers.  I then applied a thin layer of Molotow Art Masking Liquid to the middle of the robot to prevent it from being inked while creating the curvy line.  I used one of the curvy Landscape Dies from A Muse to create a stencil for the inked curve.  After making sure the masking liquid was dry, I used the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Spiced Marmalade (orange) and Faded Jeans (blue) to create the curved line.  I then removed the masking liquid from the robot and applied Orange Slice Stickles for a little sparkle and interest.  The main panel was adhered to a black piece of cardstock to frame it and then the assembled piece was popped up on the card base with foam adhesive.  I couldn't resist adding a couple of googly eyes to finish the design. Don't forget to leave the design team members and our guest designer a little blog love this week for all the wonderful inspiration they've created!  We love hearing from you! DT Badge

Then, don't forget to link up your own ICING creation on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CDT) for your chance to win the prize from Serendipity Stamps, this week's sponsor! I'm thinking it may be a cupcake kind of day in our house.  White...with buttercream frosting.  And, of course, colorful sprinkles! I'm also linking this card up to the April Anything Goes Challenge (as long as it includes Hero Arts images) over at A Blog Named Hero! 2017 Apr Challenge Logo Have a terrific Tuesday! 2017 SignatureContinue Reading...

CASology Kids

It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word challenge over at CASology!  How about a little childhood fun?!

I've had this stamp in my stash for a very long time.  I just love the sayings in this collection of sentiments!  So cute and so childlike, but so appropriate for life's occasions!  I layered a piece of yellow cardstock behind the die cut one to bring a little yellow into the dots.  I then singled out the one word in the sentiment, making it yellow and adding a touch of sparkle with a Copic marker.  The entire main panel is popped up with foam dots for a little dimension.  So fun when a single sentiment can make a card!

Melissa Chipperfield - You are here.
Be sure and leave them some blog love!  They'd love to hear from you!  Then, don't forget to link up your own creation on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CDT) for you chance to win a prize from Your Next Stamp, this week's sponsor!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Having a Blast

Cousins.  Is there really anyone more fun to get together with?!  I have fond memories of my cousins when I was growing up and it makes me smile whenever I see our children now enjoying their cousins!  We spent a weekend with one of my brothers and his adorable family over the weekend and the kids were just plain fun to watch!

I had children at play on my brain upon arriving home from the weekend and made a quick one layer CAS card for this week's Splitcoast Stampers Clean & Simple Challenge!

Stamps:  Clearly Besotted
We were to CASE a card from Emily's gallery and I chose this card.  I changed the theme and color scheme to create a fun card for a child.

Today will be all about unpacking and getting things in order for the new week!  A trip to the grocery store is on the to do list today!  Can't beat 99 cents per pound for apples at my favorite store!  Fall goodness with each bite!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Spring Break Elephants

Spring break is literally in full swing around here and craft time isn't much of a priority!  We're loving the milder weather and the ability to just throw on a sweatshirt for going outdoors rather than layer after layer of warmth!  Flip flops are next on my list, but my extremeties get a bit too cold yet to wear them outdoors for very long.  Until then, it's my second favorite...ballerina shoes!

We spent last Friday afternoon at a zoo not far from us and loved being able to see some real, live elephants!  DS3 is in love with elephants these days and seeing a couple up close had him in awe!  Love the wonder in the minds of little children!

Elephants seem to be on my mind ever since that visit and I decided to dig out my Martha Stewart elephant punch for a quick and easy thank you card.  I'm trying to think of themes for kids' cards as I need to make a birthday card for our soon-to-be 3-year-old nephew!  I'd used this same punch for DS3's second birthday party and it is definitely a favorite of mine!

Stamps:  Paper Trey (sentiment)
Paper:  SU CS (Basic Gray), Simple Stories DP (Color Vibe 1)
Ink:  SU (Whisper White)
Accessories:  Martha Steward elephant punch, corner rounder, foam dots
I simply stamped the sentiment in the lower right corner.  Then, I punched out three elephants from three different patterned papers and adhered them to the front of the card with foam dots.  Last, I rounded the lower card corners.  An easy thank you for any elephant lovers you may know!

As I type, a tree fort is being built in the backyard, laundry is calling my name and plans for a weekend of family fun need to be finalized!  It's off I go!!!

I hope you're having a wonderful Thursday!

A Purple Kind of Song

I don't know about you, but certain colors evoke particular memories or emotions from me! Take, for instance, the color purple. When combined with this week's cue word over at CASology,

one memory came to mind right away!  Do you remember that silly song called, "The Purple People Eater?"  If you don't, here is a link to YouTube so you don't miss out!  I'll apologize in advance just in case you end up with this song stuck in your head for the rest of the day!

The oh-so-fun Alley Way Stamps is our sponsor this week and I used the Monster Mash clear set to create my card!  The possibilities are endless with this fun, kid-at-heart set!  With little boys in the house, I can see myself using this set many, many times!

I paper pieced the monster and popped him up with some foam dots for dimension.  I added a little piece of purple washi tape and added some little black dots on either side of my simple sentiment using a black marker to create a continuous line from top to bottom.

I hope you'll join us over at CASology this week!  We can't wait to see what the word SONG makes you think of!

Be sure to visit the design team members' blogs for more fun inspiration!

Then, don't forget to link up your own creation by Sunday at 4 p.m. (CST) to qualify for a chance to win this week's prize from Alley Way Stamps!

Have a terrific Tuesday!
