CASology ROMANCE

CASology ROMANCE
Happy Heart Day! CASology's cue word for the week fits in quite nicely with today's holiday!

Week 236 - Romance

I tend to think along classical and elegant lines when thinking of romance.  I, personally, have a bit of romantic relationship with coffee since I can't seem to live without it.  I thought perhaps if I dressed up a to go cup it might be a bit more romantic for Valentine's Day than the usual kraft colored cups I get at the local coffee shop.  Thank you, Uniko Studio, for providing a wonderful coffee cup image (from the I Love Coffee set) for me to play with as I paper pieced with decorative paper that hasn't seen the light of day in quite some time! I stamped the coffee cup in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, fussy cut and then paper pieced using a print from Echo Park's Yours Truly collection (discontinued).  The little golden heart is from Uniko's Strike a Pose set (retired) and is stamped in gold ink.  I added a little extra gold shimmer using a Wink of Stella Glitter Gold Brush Marker before attaching it to the cup with foam dots.  The main panel is die cut using a die from Simon Says Stamp's Stitched Rectangles Dies.  I stamped the simple sentiment (Uniko's All Occasion Sentiments #5) in black at the top of the main panel before adhering the cup with foam dots.  The assembled panel was also attached to the card base with foam dots.  True love in a cup! I hope you'll take a little time to leave some blog love on the blogs of the design team members and guest designer this week!  They pour a lot of love and creative effort into the inspiration they provide! A Blog Named Hero January Challenge

A Blog Named Hero January Challenge
Today is the first challenge of 2017 over at A Blog Named Hero!  The challenge theme for January is "New to Me."  Just dig out anything new to you in your stash or use a new technique to create a card!  Easy peasy! 2017-jan-challengelogo Right At Home Stamps is sponsoring and we're showcasing two of their brand new stamp sets! 2017-jan-rightathome-logo If you're a coffee lover, you're going to love How Have You Bean? and Cup of Joy! 2017-jan-rightathome-newsets I used How Have You Bean? along with Hero Arts' LOL set to create a little smart phone message. The phone was stamped in black ink and fussy cut before applying Glossy Accents to it.  I wanted the phone to have a realistic shine!  Once the Glossy Accents was dry, I selectively stamped the sentiments and coffee bean images.  The coffee beans were colored with a Copic marker.  Three tiny gold sequin stars were adhered as embellishments.  The finished phone was then attached to the kraft card base using foam dots to add a little dimension.  The polka dot washi tape was added last. I just love this particular sentiment!  It's so true for me right now when life gets hectic.  There's nothing quite like a soothing cup of hot coffee to sip on at the beginning of a day to ease into things! I hope you'll join in this month's challenge!  There's lots of excitement ahead over at A Blog Named Hero this year, so you'll want to keep up-to-date by participating in the monthly challenges or follow along on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter.

Happy New Year!

2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop
Happy Friday!  I had a little extra craft time yesterday and made another card for the oh-so-fun Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop with the help of a little of that creative fuel called coffee!  It seems like I've been drinking more of it the last couple weeks as winter weather finally settles in around me! Winter 2016 Blog Hop I've been itching to use the fantastic Sip on This set from Clear & Simple Stamps!  I stamped the different sections of the cup in red and green and then added some sparkle with a Clear Wink of Stella Brush Marker.  The popped up circle is die cut using a Nestabilities circle die and stenciled with green ink using The Crafter's Workshop Mini Microbial Stencil.  The coffee cup is popped up right next to the circle with a little thicker foam dot to make it slightly higher.  The fun sentiment is also from the Sip on This set and is stamped in black.  I added some simple gold star and clear circle sequins as embellishments.  I am in love with this stamp set and, now that I've finally inked it up, I can't wait to brainstorm for more coffee themed designs! Clear and Simple Stamps Only a few more hours to link up to the 2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  I'm ready to start hopping myself, so need to grab some decaf this evening and go check out some of the inspiration in the hop's gallery!  Can't wait! Have a wonderful weekend!Continue Reading...

CASology BOW

CASology BOW
It's Tuesday and you know what that means!  A new cue word challenge is up over at CASology!  This week, it's all about the bow and whichever definition you decide to use for inspiration! week-228-bow I went with the definition that goes along with the season as people are busy wrapping presents and gearing up for the upcoming holiday! Winter 2016 Blog Hop This week is the Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, so I just had to incorporate some sort of coffee cup into my design!  I used the cup in Uniko Studio's I LOVE Coffee stamp set and paper pieced it with decorative paper from Cosmo Cricket to make it look like one of those lovely red Starbucks cups!  I stamped and fussy cut the bow from an older Uniko set, adding sparkle with a Wink of Stella brush.  The main panel is die cut with a My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Rectangle die.  I tilted the cup, main panel and bow a bit to create a little visual interest as I just wasn't feeling it when I had everything perfectly straight!  The coffee cup is popped up with foam dots as well as the entire assembled main panel.  I love the contrast of the traditional red and green holiday colors. I hope you'll bop on over to the guest designer and design team members' blogs and say hello!  They work diligently each week to create inspiration and would love to hear from you! Remember to link up your own CAS design on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CST) for you chance to win the prize from this week's sponsor, Birch Press Design! 2016-birch-press-design-logo

Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

13130832_10209657747231052_7266796962897251339_o Summer is here and so is the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  These hops are always so fun and I couldn't miss playing along!  It ends this Friday, June 24! I chose to use Concord & 9th's Being Classy Stamp Set & the Let's Chat set to create a clean & simple coffee themed card. 2016 June22 Concord&9th CoffeeHop WM 2   Coffee is classy.  I suppose you could say the same of tea.  I think "coffee" gives the phrase more of a ring, though!  This was so simple to create!  I stamped the plate and coffee cup outline in Tuxedo black ink & then stamped the coffee in brown for a little selective color.  The heart is stamped in white & I added some sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  A quick one-layer, 5x5-inch design! Now I need to get hopping! So much inspiration to be seen!  Continue Reading...

Coffee Loving Cardmakers + Reverse Confetti

DT Badge I'm featuring Reverse Confetti over on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog today!  This is also my final post as a design team member.  It's been a fun designing with the team and I will miss all the excitement! For today's feature, I chose to use a combination of sets, I Like You and Peacock Pretties. 2016 Apr4 SponsorReverseConfetti card WM

The main image (from Peacock Pretties) reminded me so much of a drip, so I decided to use it as a drip of coffee!  I stamped both the main image and "coffee" in brown and then stamped the smaller sentiment in black.  A single, tiny clear gemstone was added to the main image as well as a thin layer of clear sparkle from a Wink of Stella brush marker.  The main panel was popped up with foam dots for dimension.

I hope you had a great weekend!  After an eventful week last week (sick kiddos, school events, church events & house guests), I'm crossing my fingers this week will be one of calmness!  Funny how much you appreciate quiet days at home after such a week!

Have a marvelous Monday!

I stamped everything in Early Espresso ink (SU) for a monochromatic look.  Crystal Effects was added to the coffee beans for a little shine.  A little sparkle was added to the "Coffee" using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker and a single gold star sequin was added as an embellishment.  The finished main panel was popped for dimension using foam dots.

More basement construction & clean up was ours over the weekend and then we took a little mini family trip to a motel to swim and get a way for a night!  Spring break is coming to a close and school will soon be back in session!

Coffee Loving Paper Crafters + Kraftin’ Kimmie

DT Badge I'm back over on the Coffee Loving Card Makers blog today featuring Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! With so many sweet, whimsical images in the store, I found myself wishing I had more creative time to make more than one card, but alas, real life happens on a daily basis in my house!  I settled on the Angie stamp set.  After all, it's coffee themed and has my picture on it (not really, but it could be me on any given morning...)!  If only I looked that cute with disheveled hair and p.j.'s! I stamped and then colored the little gal with Copic markers before fussy cutting.  I used a Heidi Swapp stencil and sponged the chevron pattern onto the card base before adhering the main image with foam dots.  The sentiment and a trio of gold sequins were added to finish the design.  I also added a little sparkle to the hair clips with clear Stickles. Spring break will arrive here on the home front later in the week, so I'm trying to wrap my brain around simple plans to make things run smoothly with all four kids at home.  Baking, book reading, crafts and outings are part of the game plan.  It's looking like we may be in for some more white stuff too, so that should provide a change of pace for a day or so!  I'm so over snow at this point, but if it makes the kids happy and I don't have to be out driving in it, I'm content to settle in at home for a day or two, watching it accumulate & providing hot chocolate & marshmallows for rosy cheeked children!  I'd considered putting away all the snow gear over the weekend, but it's a good thing I didn't! Don't forget the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is going on right now and there are tons of prizes thanks to our wonderful sponsors over on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog!  Be sure and link up your card by this Friday to be eligible to win!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

2016 SpringBloghopLogo Today's the day!  It's time for the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  Are you ready?!  With 51 Super Sponsors, there are prizes galor, so you really don't want to miss the opportunity to play along & take in all the inspiration!  For complete details, head on over to the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blogThe hop ends a week from today on Friday, March 25.
I chose to use stamps from Pink & Main for my coffee themed card! Since I'm currently adoring pandas, I had to use the adorable Pandamonium set.  It's not actually a coffee themed set, but I used elements from it to create a coffee card!  The panda was stamped first.  I then stamped the little mug and fussy cut it before popping it up with a foam dot to add a little dimension.  I hand drew the dashed lines of steam.  The main panel was then layered on black and popped up with foam dots. I hope you'll take some time to join in the coffee hop fun with us during the week ahead!  This hop is going to be so full of inspiration and loads of fun!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Coffee Loving Cardmakers + Verve Stamps

DT Badge Today, I'm over on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog sharing a card inspired by one of our lovely sponsors,  Verve Stamps! VerveLogo With several coffee themed items in their store, I chose to use the brand new Coffee Helps set along with the coordinating Cup for All Seasons Die Set and the Coffee Word Die.
2016 Mar13 SponsorVerve WM
I stamped only portions of the sentiment stamp so that I could use the die cut coffee word along with it.  I stamped and die cut the little coffee cup before coloring it with Copic markers.  I added sparkle to the cupcake frosting using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker before popping the cup up with foam dots.  Pink sequins & clear gemstones were added as embellishments.  The main panel was mounted on a piece of black cardstock before being popped up on the kraft cardstock base using foam dots.
I'm continuing to adjust to the time change today, but figure it will take me most of the week to fully do so!  This spring time change seems throw me off more so than the one in the fall.  I feel for the kids who now have to get up an hour earlier than their little bodies are used to.  DS1, especially, will feel this one since he usually gets up around 6 a.m. for school!
Looking forward to spring's official start in less than a week!  Can you believe it's almost here?!
Have a marvelous Monday!
Melissa
