CASology CRUNCH

CASology CRUNCH
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word challenge over at CASology!  I'm guessing we're going to have a fun gallery this week!  There are SO many ways to interpret this one and I had a tough time narrowing my own design down to one theme!  I may just have to create another card for later in the week! Week 238 - Crunch With in-loves who live on a farm, one of my first thoughts was cows or horses eating hay.  Have you ever heard a cow eating hay?!  Now that's a crunch if I've ever heard one!  I stamped the cow from Lawn Fawn's Critters on the Farm set and then colored with Copics and fussy cut the finished image.  I die cut a circle out of the card front with a circle die from Mama Elephant's Pizazz Creative Cuts Die Set  to frame the main image.  I then popped up the cow inside the card with foam dots, adding little tufts of green grass with a Copic marker (& forgot to take a photo).  I wanted the cow's face to be peeking out of the circle and this allowed for that.  The simple sentiment is from the same stamp set and is stamped in black ink directly on the card front. I hope you'll take a little time to visit the design team members' blogs as well as our guest designer's blog this week!  They'd love to hear from you! DT Badge
Melissa Chipperfield (You are here.)
Then, don't forget to link up your own CRUNCH creation on the CASology blog by Monday at NOON (CST) for your chance to win the generous prize from Lawn Fawn, this week's sponsor!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Coffee Loving Paper Crafters + Kraftin’ Kimmie

DT Badge I'm back over on the Coffee Loving Card Makers blog today featuring Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! With so many sweet, whimsical images in the store, I found myself wishing I had more creative time to make more than one card, but alas, real life happens on a daily basis in my house!  I settled on the Angie stamp set.  After all, it's coffee themed and has my picture on it (not really, but it could be me on any given morning...)!  If only I looked that cute with disheveled hair and p.j.'s! I stamped and then colored the little gal with Copic markers before fussy cutting.  I used a Heidi Swapp stencil and sponged the chevron pattern onto the card base before adhering the main image with foam dots.  The sentiment and a trio of gold sequins were added to finish the design.  I also added a little sparkle to the hair clips with clear Stickles. Spring break will arrive here on the home front later in the week, so I'm trying to wrap my brain around simple plans to make things run smoothly with all four kids at home.  Baking, book reading, crafts and outings are part of the game plan.  It's looking like we may be in for some more white stuff too, so that should provide a change of pace for a day or so!  I'm so over snow at this point, but if it makes the kids happy and I don't have to be out driving in it, I'm content to settle in at home for a day or two, watching it accumulate & providing hot chocolate & marshmallows for rosy cheeked children!  I'd considered putting away all the snow gear over the weekend, but it's a good thing I didn't! Don't forget the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is going on right now and there are tons of prizes thanks to our wonderful sponsors over on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog!  Be sure and link up your card by this Friday to be eligible to win!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Happy Independence Day!

Today we're celebrating Independence Day here in the United States.  This has always been my favorite holiday.  Even though I missed out on the fireworks last night (DD goes to bed long before they start...), I could still hear them off in the distance.  Today is the official holiday, so we're spending the day as a family before my parents arrive for the weekend!

I had to make another patriotic card and found inspiration for the layout over at the Muse Card Club challenge.  This week's muse is Jennifer Wills, one of the sweetest, most selfless women I know!  She's been visiting my blog for a very long time now and I love her comments and support!  Plus, she's a part of the CASology design team!  Seeing her work, it's no wonder one of her cards is the inspiration for this week's challenge.

I loved that she created a scene within a circle and used simple layers to add dimension!  Her card is a beach scene, but I created a little 4th of July fireworks scene since that's what was on my mind!

This is me in years gone by, enjoying the fireworks display.  In a few more years, it will be DD.  The fireworks image is actually a flower from SU's retired Betsy's Blossoms set!  I'd had the thought before that I should use it for fireworks, but never did.  I guess this year it was time to give it a go!  I'm absolutely loving Mama Elephant stamps and dies right now!  Their recent new release about did me in!

I am also joining in the Anything Goes challenge over at The Pink Elephant

Add our banner to your blog

We'll be digging out the sparklers here at home this evening.  DD has to celebrate earlier than the rest of us since she's too little to really enjoy the after dark festivities.  At least she doesn't mind her mother dressing her up for a little bit!

Have a fabulous Friday!

Melissa

Nuts About You

Today I get to share a card as guest designer for 2 Cute Ink!  Heidi, the talented artist behind all those adorable images, gave me a cute squirrel to work with and I rather like him!

Stamps:  2 Cute Ink (squirrel), Paper Trey Ink (sentiment)
I've been playing with my Copic markers again over the past week or so and remembering that I do like to color when I have the time!  There is something so relaxing about sitting down with an image and coloring away, bringing it to life!

I stuck with my usual clean and simple card making style after coloring the image.  I added the sentiment as a little banner and then took forever trying to decide how to best arrange those little gemstones hearts!  Aargh!  Why, oh why, do I fret over such little things?!  I'm sure those of you who create CAS cards can relate!  I finally made myself stop and left them as you see them!

I hope you'll stop over to Heidi's blog and her store so you can see just how many cute images she has added in recent months!  She's one busy gal and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us in the months ahead!  Oh, and she's on Facebook regularly too, so go stop in for a visit!

Today is a rather quiet Sunday here on the home front.  Everyone is sleeping, but me.  I caught a quick cat nap when DS3 was settling in for his nap, so I'm good to go!

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

The Sky’s the Limit!

The weather where I'm at has been absolutely gorgeous lately and it's rather difficult for me to stay at the computer for very long when the sun is shining, the sky is a brilliant blue and there is a gentle autumn breeze blowing! I'm sharing a card today, though, because there is a new cue word up at CASology for the week!

How fun to think about all the things you see up above!  For me, I thought of airplanes!  We hear airplanes flying overhead quite a bit.  The local airport isn't all that far away and we must be along some of their flying routes because it's not uncommon to hear a plane passing by overhead, day or night.

I remembered a Paper Trey valentine set I had stashed away that has a little airplane as one of its images.  I couldn't resist creating some die cut clouds and letting that little plane zip behind them!  I added a thin line of glitter with a Copic Spica pen on the clouds, but it doesn't show up very well in the photo.  I also used a red Copic Spica pen on the little heart.  The one thing that does seem to show up well on my photos are smudges of ink.  I wasn't feeling like trying to hide it this time around, though, so you'll have to put up with a little air pollution today (it's on one of the clouds, if you're curious)!

For more inspiration, be sure and visit the other design team members' blogs as well as this week's guest designer, Meghan!

Have yourself a terrific Tuesday!

Hootin’ for Spring!

With the spring-like weather we're having already, I am feeling a lot of anticipation for what's to come:
  • green grass
  • green leaves on the trees
  • beautiful blossoms on the Magnolia trees
  • the smell of freshly mowed grass
  • tulips & daffodils
  • song birds welcoming the mornings
  • putting winter coats and gear away
  • lazy outings in the local parks
  • hikes & long walks as a family
  • grilled food
  • popsicles & other frozen treats eaten outdoors
  • water fun
  • sitting on the deck, enjoying the fresh air
My list could go on and on!  What about you?  What are you looking forward to as the weather gives way to warmer temperatures?

To celebrate the welcome changes spring brings, I used the Owl Sparklers digital image from 2 Cute Ink.  I think he'd make a rather cute cheerleader or Fourth of July enthusiast!

Stamps - 2 Cute Ink (Owl Sparklers - digi), Pink by Design (sentiment)
Paper - SU cardstocks (Crumb Cake, Real Red, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight)
Ink - SU (Night of Navy)
Accessories - SU (red button, Real Red polka dot ribbon, star punch, circle punch, Night of Navy marker), baker's twine, paper piercer, Stickles, Nestabilities (oval, scalloped oval), foam dots (popped up main image oval & star)

Thinking of Spring

Now that Valentine's Day has come and gone, I'm starting to think S-P-R-I-N-G!  I can't say this winter has been all that bad with snow, but there is something about being stuck indoors for a few months that gets to me after a while, especially with three little boys.  Since today is 2 Cute Ink day for me, I just had to use this adorable spring themed stamp called Baby Chickie!  The nice thing about this particular image is that Heidi will send you two images, one with plain eggs and one with the eggs decorated for Easter!

I used my Nestabilities to create an oval shaped card, made some faux stitching with my paper piercer and black marker and then added some clear Stickles to the eggs to give them a little sparkle.

Supplies:
Stamps - 2 Cute Ink (Baby Chickie - digital), Elzybells (sentiment)
Paper - SU Daffodil Delight & Basic Black cardstocks, Copic Blending Card
Accessories - SU Basic Black marker, paper piercer, Nestabilities (oval, scalloped oval), Stickles, SU flower button, baker's twine
Coloring - Copic markers

Stitched

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today is the beginning of a new challenge over at The Stamping Boutique!  This time around, we are to use stitching on our creations, whether real or faux.  Since my sewing machine is buried in our storage room (rather neglected these days), I used my paper piercer and a black marker to create some faux stitching.  I popped up the balloon to add a little dimension and added some sparkle with Stickles.

Supplies:
Stamps - The Stamping Boutique (Trenton - digital), The Stamps of Life (sentiment)
Paper - Echo Park DP (Your Truly), SU Crumb Cake & Very Vanilla cardstocks
Ink - SU Real Red & Basic Black
Accessories - paper piercer & black marker (for faux stitching), Nestabilities (heart, scalloped heart), Stickles (on balloon), foam dot (popped up balloon), sponge (around vanilla colored heart)
Coloring - Copic markers

Dachshund Valentine

Fabulous Friday!  I can't be happier!  The past couple days have been filled with a little toddler who was sick.  He couldn't keep anything down the first day and has just been keeping close!  I'm not complaining about the extra snuggles!  I just don't like it when my little ones aren't feeling well!  So far, no one else has come down with anything other than a cold.  Thankfully, no fever ever developed, so I'm counting my lucky stars this time around!

Today is 2 Cute Ink day, so I'm sharing the cutest little weiner dog (a.k.a. Dachshund) love note!

Supplies:
Stamps - 2 Cute Ink (Patches the Weenie Dog - digital)
Paper - SU Bashful Blue, Melon Mambo cardstocks, Copic blending card, My Mind's Eye DP (Love Me)
Accessories - SU Melon Mambo polka dot ribbon, pink gemstones
Coloring - Copic markers

Have a wonderful weekend!
