Dynamic Duos

Plant Pizzazz

I couldn't resist creating a card for this week's color duo over at Dynamic Duos! With a pretty green paired with black, how could I not play along?!

I even happened to be thinking about plant images before I read the dessert option, so all worked out well!

I've had this single cling stamp image in my stash for a while now, waiting for the opportunity to create something with it.  I don't know how many times I've picked it up, eyeballed it for a moment and put it back.  Luck was with it and it was finally kissed with ink!

I inked it up with Pear Pizzazz and went back over the stems with a Basic Black marker before stamping it on white cardstock.  I trimmed and layered the main image panel on Basic Black cardstock.  I decided I needed to bring in a little more of the green, so added the strip of Pear Pizzazz cardstock to the card base before permanently affixing the main image panel with foam dots.  The clear Stickles were added at the end.  What's a card without at least a little sparkle?!

I'm wondering where the week is going!  It's Thursday already and I don't feel like I've really accomplished anything profound.  Such is the story of Summer, I suppose.  Some hot days are beginning this week for those of us here in the Midwest!  I had to double check the freezer to make sure I have plenty of frozen berries for smoothies!  This mama and her personalized space heater need to keep comfortable!  I'd forgotten how much warmer summers seem when you have a little person attached to your midsection!  Funny how we forget certain things.  Only 8 or 9 weeks to go now!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Just a Note

Here I am posting a second card for the day. I guess I am on a card making kick this week with the winds blowing and rain brewing. Believe it or not, we haven't seen a raindrop yet today despite the 60-80% chance they've forecasted! Maybe the clouds are just waiting to dump everything on us all at once later?

I decided to play along with the monochromatic color scheme over at Dynamic Duos and, once again, I'm entering pretty close to the cut off time!  I'm also using a bird as my main image again, so please excuse my lack of variety, Dynamic Duos design team!  I just thought this image would look rather dashing in Midnight Muse ink!

Stamps:  Hero Arts, Uniko Studio (sentiment)
Paper:  Paper Trey cardstock (white)
Ink:  SU (Midnight Muse)
Accessories:  light blue gemstone, SU marker (Midnight Muse), Stickles (Waterfall)

I stamped the bird and sentiment and then drew the music note stem with a marker and covered it with a little Stickles for shine.  I added the light blue gemstone note last.

It's a pretty quiet day here on the home front today and I'm feeling a bit tired, so there may be some more craft time in my near future once DS3's nap time begins!  I promise I won't post anything else until at least tomorrow, though!

Bird Gathering

I don't know how many times over the past few weeks I've told myself I was going to play along with the color challenges over at Dynamic Duos! Today I made it a point to do just that, but almost ran out of time!  The colors are one of my favorite combinations, so I really couldn't resist any longer!

I immediately thought of these little birds...

Stamp:  Verve (sentiment from Chicks Rule set), A Muse (Chevrons)
Paper:  SU cardstock (Pacific Point, Basic Black), Paper Trey cardstock (white)
Accessories:  Memory Box die (Resting Birds), foam dots

My maiden name is the name of a bird, so with my side of the family descending upon our house for the upcoming holiday weekend, how could I not make a bird card?!  Yes, I'm a bit of a bird brain...

I popped up all five of the feathered friends for dimension after stamping a single chevron stripe.  I came across the sentiment in my Verve Stamps stash while searching for that perfect font and sentiment to use.

I'm busy being the obsessive-compulsive planner that I am when it comes to family event planning.  There will be eight children to entertain with a good chance of rain in the forecast!  Ages?  Four months up to 11, mostly boys.  I'm thinking Memorial Day cupcake decorations sound pretty fun!

Enjoy your Thursday!

Black Tie Thank You

With Thanksgiving tomorrow and a thank you card stash that is dwindling, I just had to make a thank you card!  What better colors to use than this week's Dynamic Duos colors, Marina Mist and Basic Black!  So elegant!

I used a Stamps of Life set that I found hiding in my stash, loving the floral images on it!  They remind me of this beauty that I found last month!  It seems like every season has its highlights, doesn't it?!

After rounding the upper right corners, I added a little piece of washi tape and some gemstones colored with a Copic marker to match the blue.  Thank you, simply said!

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday and, if you're celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, enjoy the time spent with family and friends...and the food!  I'll be back tomorrow with my usual photo of the week (one day late)!

Wishing you a happy and safe holiday!

A Monochromatic Farewell

Today is the beginning of a new color challenge over at Dynamic Duos and the end of my term on the design team!  My, how time has flown!  With such wonderful team mates, it's no wonder!  I will miss them all, but will definitely be visiting their blogs in the future!  Thank you so much, Lesley, for giving me the opportunity!

For my final card as a design team member, I found myself a little stumped.  I'm not exactly a More Mustard fan.  After a few happy accidents with ink and cardstock, a light bulb finally went on and I came up with a clean and simple card!

I used a Martha Steward butterfly punch & So Saffron cardstock to create four little butterflies.  Then, I sponged the butterflies with More Mustard ink and adhered them to a kraft cardstock panel.  I mounted this on a piece of More Mustard cardstock and then used foam dots to pop the entire piece up a bit on the card base.  The sentiment was stamped in More Mustard.

Be sure to visit the rest of the team's blogs as there is so much wonderful inspiration this week!  Then, be sure to link up your own creation on the challenge blog by Thursday at noon (PDT)!

Black Tie Duo

It's time for a change of color!  A new color duo is up over at Dynamic Duos and, this week, it's a Black Tie combination!

It's Basic Black + Pumpkin Pie and a dessert option of Die Cuts!

Stamps:  Prickley Pear
I used stamps and a bat die from Prickley Pear to create a clean and simple Halloween card.  The circle was cut using a Nestabilities die.  I popped up the bat with foam dots to add a little dimension and some orange gemstones for a little shine.  Nothing extravagant.  Just my usual simple design.

Be sure to visit the other team members' blogs for more inspiration!

Medallion Thank You

Happy Saturday!  It's time for a brand new color duo over at Dynamic Duos!  This week, it's soft colors:

Isn't this duo beautiful?!

For my simple 5x5 card, I inked up SU's Medallion in Pool Party and then sponged a little Soft Suede over it.  I then stamped the image in the upper left corner and added a vintage pearl to its center.  The sentiment, from Verve Stamps, was added last.  The middle panels are popped up to give things a little dimension.

Be sure and check out the rest of the team's blogs!  With colors this pretty, you'll love this week's inspirational creations!  Then, don't forget to link up your own by Thursday at noon (PDT)!

Bold & Sassy Duo

It's Saturday and time for a new color duo challenge over at Dynamic Duos! This week, it's a Bold & Sassy Duo:

When I pulled these two colors out of my cardstock stash, I immediately started thinking about Halloween & a little monster card was created:

The polka dot paper is from Stampin' Up!, the sentiment from Paper Trey and the monster is a Michael's stamp!  The making of this was a rather scary ordeal.  I was fussy cutting the poor monster and accidentally chopped off an arm and a leg, so he's actually missing two appendages!  Sorry, little guy!

Be sure to visit the blogs of the other design team members and this month's guest designers if you have a few moments!  Lots of inspiration this week!  Don't forget to link up your own creations on the challenge blog by Thursday at noon (PDT)!

Cherry Cobbler

Cherry Cobbler.  Doesn't that sound delicious?  Maybe I'll have to whip up a batch this weekend!  What a great autumn dessert!

I'm actually talking about one of the colors for the new color duo that starts today over at Dynamic Duos!  We are to use Cherry Cobbler and another color of our choice!

For my simple card (& I mean simple!), I chose Night of Navy as the second color.  I mounted a white cardstock panel to a white card base and then just added pops of the two main colors for a very clean and simple card.  I added three star shaped gemstones to add to the patriotic feel.  With Veterans' Day coming up in November, I was a bit sad thinking that I couldn't give this to my grandfather.  He passed away last month and was a WWII veteran who fought in Iwo Jima.  I'll have to pass this along to another veteran somewhere this year.

Die:  Paper Trey Ink

Dynamic Duos #21

The weekend has finally arrived.  My silence yesterday was due to a no school day.  Wouldn't you know it, it was a cold, rainy one & we all spent the majority of the day indoors!

Today, is the beginning of a new color duo challenge at Dynamic Duos, so I'm sharing my creation!  This time around, we're monochromatic colors.

I immediately thought of green leaves, something that we'll soon have none of!  I searched through my stash until I found such a set by Verve Stamps.  From there, a clean & simple card was born.

I could see this being a sympathy card too, but couldn't find a sympathy sentiment in a font I liked!

Be sure and visit the design team and guest designer blogs if you have some time!  Once again, they've created some spectacular cards!

I am also linking this to the Repetition Challenge in the Moxie Fab World that ends on Monday!

Have a super Saturday!

Happy Haunting!

This week's color duo challenge at Dynamic Duos is just perfect because Halloween is definitely cruising through my brain now with cooler days and nights upon us!  It always seems like by the time Halloween arrives, it is bitterly cold and rainy and I feel so sorry for the trick-or-treaters in their thin costumes trying to stay warm and dry!  I'm crossing my fingers we'll have a nice Halloween this year.  Sometimes that happens!  Sometimes.

For my card, I used the Halloween dessert option for the challenge with a little mummy stamp I've had stashed away since last Halloween!  I decided a night sky would be a good background for him and embossed a black panel with a Tim Holtz folder.  The moon was created using a circle punch and a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I wanted to use some fun baker's twine and ended up entangling the little mummy in it!  I'm not much into creepy, scary things at Halloween, so went for the cute factor instead!

Stamps:  Craft Smart:  Michaels (mummy), Paper Trey (sentiment)
I was just thinking last night during the boys' bedtime routine that I need to start thinking about costumes!  Wow, time flies!  Better go dig out the costume tote today and see what we have...and what we might need!

Be sure and stop by the design team and guest designer blogs if you have time!  They made some wonderful cards this week!  Then, don't forget to link up your own creation by next Thursday at noon (PDT)!

Have a super Saturday!

Crazed

Yes, It's been rather quiet here the past couple days! I've been on a mini staycation here at home from blogging & the general craziness of life, taking time to refocus and muster up some of the mojo that has been sneaking away recently.  I'm back today with a card for Dynamic Duos before I head off into a busy weekend!  To be honest, I'm feeling ready for the slowdown of cooler days!  It's time.  I actually wore a sweatshirt last night while sitting in front of the open windows!  Love that!

This week at Dynamic Duos, we get some softer colors to play with:

Feeling the need for a couch kind of day this week, I made this simple card with the color duo!  The pattern on the couch reminds me so much of a couch my in-laws have in their basement (from the 70's, perhaps?)!  Oranges & greens on some sort of velvet textured material!  I added the strip of embossed cardstock to the lower portion of the card to bring out the dots on the couch.  Other than that, I popped up the little round cushion with a foam dot and added a little drop of Stickles to its center.

I hope you'll take some time to visit the design team blogs as well as the guest designer blogs!  There are so many wonderful cards this week!

Have a super Saturday!
