A Muse Studio June Collection

A Muse Studio June Collection
Have you checked out the A Muse Studio June Collection yet in the online store?!  This new release is just adorable with a mermaid, narwhal, whale and other sea creatures just waiting to be inked up and used on those summer paper crafting projects! logo I had so much fun creating clean & simple designs with the new sets and thought I'd share a couple of them today!  For my first card, I used the two adorable fish from the Let's Be Mermaids set.  I cut a thin line for a wave using Mermaid cardstock and one of the Landscape Dies.  The fish were watercolored using a water brush and Ocean and Mermaid and Papaya pigment inks.  The fish we cut out using the coordinating dies for the stamp set and popped up with foam adhesive.  The sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and three Twinkle stickers were added as embellishments beneath the wave.  The finished main panel was popped up on the Sugar cardstock base. 2017 May Melissa8 closeup For my second card, I used the True Blue Friend set. 2017 May Melissa6 blog The whale was stamped in Ocean ink and cut out using the stamp set's coordinating dies.  I cut out a wave using Mermaid cardstock and one of the stitched Landscape Dies, trimming to fit the main panel.  I die cut the sentiment using the Hello word die and Polka Dot Papaya Cardstock.  A single clear Twinkle Sticker was added as the whale's eye before the whale was popped up using foam adhesive. 2017 May Melissa6 closeup The assembled main panel was popped up with foam adhesive on the Sugar cardstock base. I'll be back tomorrow with even more June Collection inspiration!

I hope you've had a fantastic Friday!

Hero Arts Koi Hello

Hero Arts Koi Hello
It's almost Friday and I've been working away in my craft room this week, trying to work ahead for a change! Today, I was in the mood for a one layer card!  Hero Arts' new Color Layering Koi set was just perfect for what I had in mind!  I layer stamped the fish in Soft Vanilla & Soft Granite inks, stamping the eyes with Carcoal ink.  I used a clean fonted sentiment from Hero Arts' Everyday Sayings, stamping it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  To finish off the design, I added some subtle sparkle to the fish using a Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear Sparkle marker. 2017 Mar9 KoiCloseup I hope your week has been decent!  A busy one here, but we're doing okay! Just Keep Swimming

It's Friday and that means there is a new Friends with Flair blog hop going on over at Unity!  It's been a long time since I've played along, so last night I decided to create a card using Unity stamps!

Stamps:  Unity (Fishy Philosophy)
Paper:  Paper Trey cardstock (white)
Ink:   SU (Basic Black, Island Indigo)
Accessories:  gemstones, foam dots, glaze pen , blender pen

I stamped the sea weeds and sentiment first.  I then stamped, colored and fussy cut the little fish.  After adhering it with foam dots for dimension, I added little bubbles of gemstone!  Pretty easy!

Have a fintastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!

Pond Memories

With summer break winding down, I find myself thinking about my own childhood memories of summer!  For me, there were a couple summers when my family went to stay for a few days with some friends at their old farmhouse in rural Wisconsin.  They had a pond and we spent a fair amount of time fishing.  I was never one to actually touch a fish, but I sure enjoyed luring them in!  My father, being a vet, always had some kind of interesting tidbit to share with us regarding fish anatomy, but I don't remember any of that!  Poor dad!

Today is the beginning of a new cue word challenge over at CASology and this week the word is POND!

I had to create something with little fish on it!  I always managed to catch sunfish when fishing.  I thought they were pretty...for a fish!  I decided to use blue fish on my card just because I like the color blue with white (a good reason, right?).  I used a textured cardstock this week to give things a little character.  The fish panel is matted on SU's Pacific Point cadstock and then popped up with foam dots.  I tried adding some simple embellishments, but ended up deciding it was too much and left them off!

I hope you join us at CASology if you find time to craft this week!  We love seeing all the entries each week!

Have a terrific Tuesday!
