A Muse Just a Note

A Muse Just a Note
Happy Monday!  It's a sunny one here and a welcome warm up is on the way!  It's so strange not having any snow on the ground mid-February! I dug out my neglected kraft cardstock last week to create a quick "just a note" card.  It seems like I go in cycles with kraft card stock.  Some weeks, it's all I use.  Other times, I go months without even thinking about it! I've been exploring my stash of stamps a little more lately and discovering I have some oldies, but goodies, hidden away!  This older stamp set from A Muse Studio caught my eye and I thought it would be perfect with kraft cardstock!  I stamped the flowers in StampinUp!'s Soft Suede ink and then stamped the birds in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The little birds were fussy cut and sparkle added with a Crafter's Companion Clear Overlay Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen before being popped up with foam dots for dimension. I love how quickly this design came together!  I often need a simple card for general correspondence and this will be perfect!

Have a marvelous Monday & don't forget tomorrow is Valentine's Day!

Guest Designer for Uniko Studio!

**This is my second post for today (gasp!), so if you're looking for the current CASology challenge post, please scroll down!**

I am excited to be guest designing over at Uniko Studio today after winning their 14th challenge (Clean & Simple) with this card!

The current challenge is a beautiful one and I would highly recommend playing along!  Just look at the gorgeous colors!  In addition, the challenge is to use texture (e.g. background paper, background stamp, embossing folder, etc.).  So fun!

I opted to use my woodgrain embossing folder for texture.

Using kraft cardstock as the base, I sponged grey and white on the middle panel before embossing it with the embossing folder, going for the weathered look.  I then stamped one of the beautiful Gerbera Daisies from the Pure Florals:  Gerbera set as well as two leaves.  These were cut out and popped up with foam dots.  I added a cluster of small, sparkly dots to the center of the daisy using clear Stickles.  I made a banner using a piece of kraft cardstock and a square punch.  The sentiment was stamped on top of this and then the banner was popped up with foam dots too.

I was in the mood for a summery image when I made this as, looking outdoors, the landscape is now pretty bare!  Nothing a bright Gerbera daisy can't help with!

It's off to wipe down the newly installed countertops in the materializing basement craft room and maybe (yes, maybe) start moving a few things into the cupboards so I can get an idea of what kind of organizing I'm going to be looking at.  I'm really trying not to be too premature with moving things as the tile floor is not installed yet nor are any doors or woodwork hung.  I figure I can still stamp on the countertops now while standing on a plywood floor, right?!  I think DH is beginning to realize I'm just a tad bit antsy at this point.  Do you blame me?!  He's such a good sport.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Can’t Help Myself!

More snowflakes have been drifting steadily out of the sky today and I had to run into my craft room for some therapy!  Spring, where are you?!!

I frantically dug out as many flower stamps as I could find and settled on one from SU!'s Betsy's Blossoms set.  It had been neglected for much too long, so I inked it up in some Concord Crush ink (SU).

I CASE'd this card over on Splitcoast Stampers by Ceal (a.k.a. simplybeautiful), for this week's featured stamper on the Clean & Simple challenge.  I was immediately drawn to the big, bold flower on her card and took it from there!

Only one more day until March 1st arrives.  I'm ready for green grass and beautiful blooms.  I'd even be willing to mow the lawn, if given the chance right now!  Yes, winter has lost it's glory for me at this point in the season.  I don't mean to sound all gloomy about snow, but aren't bright, colorful blooms and barefoot days a rather exciting thought?!

I hope you've had a wonderful Wednesday!

Gray Mustard

It's a rather blustery day outdoors, so I decided to finish up a simple card I started last night (before giving in to sleep).

This week's Clean & Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers includes an inspirational photo of some pretty fabric:

I was instantly drawn to the colors, thinking of SU's More Mustard and Basic Gray.

What a great excuse to use some gray again!  Using Basic Gray ink, I stamped off the foliage image onto my scrap paper first before stamping it on the white cardstock.  I did this to soften the color a bit.  I then stamped the flower on a scrap piece of cardstock and cut it out.  I sponged the image with some More Mustard ink.  The flower image was stamped again in Basic Gray, this time cutting out only the middle circle and adhering it to the yellow flower.  I then added four matching gemstones to the flower center.  I popped up the finished flower using a couple foam dots to add some dimension.  Finally, I stamped the simple message in Basic Gray.

I seem to find lots of opportunity and inspiration for making thank you cards, but realized while looking through my card stash that I need to be making some birthday cards!  And New Year cards.  And valentines.

Now I'm hoping to bop over to Michaels and snag some of their 77-cent ceramic bakeware for some little baked gifts I've been wanting to make!  What a deal!  On top of that, their stamps are 50% off!  Both of these deals are only for today, so best get going!  DS3 is in the midst of potty training and that means this trip needs to be short and sweet!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Black Tie Thank You

With Thanksgiving tomorrow and a thank you card stash that is dwindling, I just had to make a thank you card!  What better colors to use than this week's Dynamic Duos colors, Marina Mist and Basic Black!  So elegant!

I used a Stamps of Life set that I found hiding in my stash, loving the floral images on it!  They remind me of this beauty that I found last month!  It seems like every season has its highlights, doesn't it?!

After rounding the upper right corners, I added a little piece of washi tape and some gemstones colored with a Copic marker to match the blue.  Thank you, simply said!

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday and, if you're celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, enjoy the time spent with family and friends...and the food!  I'll be back tomorrow with my usual photo of the week (one day late)!

Wishing you a happy and safe holiday!

Dynamic Duos #16

Are you ready for a color duo challenge that includes the color black?  Then, this week's color duo is for you over at Dynamic Duos!

River Rock & Basic Black are getting together this week with some gorgeous results!  There is also a dessert option to use brads, so dig out those neglected embellishments (at least mine tend to be...) and put them to work for you!

Here's how I put things together:
1.  The floral images & sentiment were stamped with Basic Black ink on River Rock cardstock, trimming the panel and rounding two of the corners.
2.  This panel was layered on top of a piece of Basic Black cardstock, rounding the corresponding corners.
3.  After tying a piece of black grosgrain ribbon around the lower portion, the layered panels were popped up with foam dots.

Don't forget to leave some blog love for the other design team members if you have time!

Have a very happy Saturday!

Friday Flower

It's Friday again!  That means it's time for Friends with Flair over at Unity!  I love participating in this each week because there are so many wonderful creations and lots of people participate!  I'm also entering this card into the Stamp It! Cards Hello Challenge in the Moxie Fab World!  There are so many talented card makers and just a whole lot of fun over at Moxie Fab!

I started out with a one-layer card, but just couldn't seem to shake the feeling that it just wasn't enough!  I ended up stamping another flower and popping it up with a foam dot on top of the one I'd already stamped on the card base.  I added some tiny dots to the flower center with a fine tip red marker and added a small gemstone to the center.  I also added tiny dots to the sentiment to coordinate the polka dots a bit more.

Fresh blueberry muffins and coffee await, so I'm outta here!  I'll be back tomorrow with a card for the new color duo at Dynamic Duos.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Hello Flower

The weekend is off to a rather warm start here where I am!  We've had so many days of heat and dryness that the grass is looking rather sick!  Oh, what we would give for a downpour right now.  One that would last at least a couple days!  We can't have everything, though, can we?  We'll just endure this dry spell and hope for better days ahead!  Besides, what else can we do?!  Mother Nature has a mind of her own!  With it being so hot, I've had guiltless ink and paper time indoors.  ('s not all bad!)

Today is a fresh new color duo over at Dynamic DuosRich Razzleberry & Old Olive!  I put together a simple hello card for the occasion!

SU (Triple Treat Flower), Prickley Pear sentiment

I chose to use Basic Gray as a neutral this week for a change!  I love using it in the winter months, but I think it just might work for the warmer months too if paired with some brighter colors!

Be sure and visit the other design team members' blogs as they have some wonderful inspiration for you this week!

Today is DS1's eighth birthday, so ice cream cake is in store!  So happy he chose that over a baked cake this summer!  It feels enough like an oven outside the way it is!

Have a happy weekend!

Prickley Pear Monday

It's Prickley Pear Monday and I can't believe how fast last week went by!  I have a feeling this summer is going to fly by the way things are going!  I guess time flies when you're having fun!

Father's Day weekend proved to be a relaxing one.  We had baked spaghetti and a lemon cake for dessert.  The cake recipe I found on, one of our favorite recipe sites.  DH liked it, but I still want to find a recipe that tastes like that Starbucks lemon loaf!!  Someday...

For today's card creation, I dry embossed a piece of grey cardstock using a new chevron pattern from StampinUp!  I then used Prickley Pear's Mini Hibiscus Die to cut out the hibiscus image and then divided the panel into thirds.  I then placed a piece of chevron patterned decorative paper behind them and mounted everything on a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock.  The sentiment if from the Prickley Pear Hibiscus 2 clear stamp set.

Prickley Pear Monday

I'm dragging a bit this morning, but with coffee in hand, I think I can handle today's activities!  It's the last day of school for DS1, so summer vacation is about to break loose and I still need to finalize some plans and routines!  I feel like I have a million ideas floating around in my head, but haven't organized them into something we can work with yet!  Better get that done today or things will quickly turn into a zoo around here!

Since it's Monday, it's time to share a Prickley Pear creation!  I've been thinking in black/grey and white quite a bit lately, so it's no surprise that this is what I came up with for today!

I used the newer Clearly Beautiful Hibiscus 2 set and Hibiscus Flower & Leaf Die.  I love how versatile the clear sets are and the coordinating dies make them all the more fun to play with!

Now I'm off to deliver a boy and his teacher gifts to the bus stop!  Have a great Monday!
