A Honey Bee Stamps Hello

A Honey Bee Stamps Hello
Happy Thursday!  Can you believe tomorrow is Friday again?!  I think I am still in a bit of a daze from vacation.  With four family birthdays falling into these last two months of summer, things are always a bit busier than usual!  Throw a family vacation and the usual summer days & weekend trips in there along with the festivities, and you have a hoppin' house!   It's all good, though!  Summer flies because of this uptick in activities, but I think that just makes autumn that much more enjoyable as things begin to slow to a more relaxed pace and school routines start up again! Today, I'm sharing a monochromatic card that uses simple stitched dies and images from Honey Bee Stamps.  A flower from the Busy Bees stamp set is the focal image on the design.  I chose not to color anything, but kept things very clean looking by only adding color with a strip of kraft cardstock. The main panel is a piece of white cardstock, die cut using the Cloud Borders Dies.  The sentiment (Simple Sentiments set) was stamped in black on the lower half.  I spaced the two pieces apart slightly and then adhered both with foam adhesive to a piece of kraft cardstock to give it the appearance of a little row of dirt.  The flower & stem (Busy Bees set) were stamped in black and die cut on white cardstock.  I glued the upper portion of the stem directly to the top piece of the main panel, tucking in the lower portion behind the lower piece of main panel.  The flower was then popped up with foam adhesive and a single, black rhinestone was added for interest.  The assembled main panel was then popped up on the white card base using more foam adhesive. I love using dies in different ways and these cloud dies were perfect for what I had in mind!  A very simple design and the sentiment could be varied to meet your card needs!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Fall Flowers

I created this card for the Sketch and Color Challenges over at Splitcoast Stampers this week. I was happy to see some fall colors on the color challenge! What perfect timing and with fall on my brain, I didn't have to switch gears! Yay! I'm not sure just how satisfied I am with how it turned out, but it will have to do for this attempt as it's getting late and I will pay for it in the morning if I don't get my beauty rest soon!

A Muse Studio Thank You Inspiration

A Muse Studio Thank You Inspiration
Happy Monday!  Today, I have some bright orange thank you inspiration for you using A Muse Studio goodies! logo My first card was made using the gift card envelope die.  This die set contains a cute scalloped frame which I used with Onyx Shimmer Cardstock.  The sentiments & bold flower were stamped in black ink and the subtle flower images on the gift card envelope were stamped in orange ink.  I added a touch of sparkle to the flower center on the back with a glitter brush pen. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard8 backview The second card I'm sharing today uses both the Bouquet Builder set as well as the fun Mad for Plaids set.  I die cut the stitched main panel using the Tag Bundle die set and then stamped one of the images from the plaid set in black along the lower edge.  The simple sentiment was also stamped in black just below the border stamp.  I stamped a single blossom in black and die cut it with the coordinating die.  To finish the design, I added a trio of clear sequins.  The assemble main panel was popped up with foam adhesive for dimension. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard7 blog A person could vary the colors on these two designs very easily and these could be mass produced pretty quickly!

Have a marvelous Monday!

A Muse Studio August Collection New Release Day!

A Muse Studio August Collection New Release Day!
Today is release day over at A Muse Studio and you're going to love it all! logo I created a modern looking design for the first card in my post today.  It reminds me a little of some of the decor in the hotels these days with bold color blocks!  I simply cut three strips of varying colors (Orange, Grass, Buttercup) to create a square main panel, adhering them to a square piece of Sugar cardstock.  Once assembled, I stamped a row of three leaves (Bouquet Builder set) on the center of the panel.  The main panel was then popped up on the card base (5x5) with foam adhesive for dimension and the simple sentiment was stamped below and slightly to the right. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard6 closeup For my second card, I used the ice cream cone image from the You're Cool stamp set. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard10 blog I simply stamped three cones, die cut them using the coordinating dies and colored them by spritzing each one with a different color Splash spray!  Super easy coloring!  Once dry, I colored the cone portion with a brown Copic marker and applied a little glitter to the ice cream using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The cones were then popped up with foam adhesive and the banner sentiment (from the same set) was stamped below in black ink. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard10 closeup For a limited time, you can get this set FREE with any $35 purchase!  How great is that?! You're Cool Set So much fun and versatility in these new sets!  Summer blooms and ice cream?!  I'm loving these!  Go check them out in the online store!

A Muse Studio August Collection Sneak Peek, Day 1

A Muse Studio August Collection Sneak Peek, Day 1
It's release week over at A Muse Studio!  The August Collection will be in the online store on Friday, so we're sharing sneak peeks until then!  For today, I thought I'd show you a card made with Southern Bouquet, an absolutely gorgeous floral set! logo I started by stamping the bouquet image in black ink, cutting it out with the coordinating die and then used a water brush with a variety of pigment inks to color.  While this was drying, I die cut a stitched panel using one of the dies from A Muse's Tag Bundle to use as the main panel of the design.  On this, I stamped the sentiment in black.  Once the bouquet was dry, I added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The bouquet was popped up to one side of the main panel using foam adhesive and then the main panel was popped up on the cardbase using additional foam adhesive. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard5 closeup I love how this bouquet image really stands out all by itself!  So many color possibilities with this and perfect for most any occasion involving flowers! Stay tuned for more new release inspiration tomorrow!  We have three days of sneak peeks this week and then the entire August Collection will be available in the online store this Friday!

A Blog Named Hero July Floral Challenge

A Blog Named Hero July Floral Challenge
It's time to begin a brand new monthly challenge them over at A Blog Named Hero!  This month our theme is Florals and our sponsor is Winnie & Walter! 2017 JulyChallengeLogo Have you seen all the pretty floral images over at the Winnie & Walter online store?!  I chose to use the The Big, the Bold and Extras set along a large sentiment from their The Big, the Bold and the Happy set to create this design.  I paired them with a simple patterned image from the Hero Arts Busy As A set, layering the elements. Using Hero Arts Butter Bar ink, I inked up the image and spritzed it very lightly with water before stamping it on white cardstock.  This gave the image a lightly mottled look. I then stamped the outline of the flower in black before die cutting it with the coordinating dies.  Next, I stamped the honeycomb designed line from the Hero Arts set directly on the card base with black ink and stamped the leaf silhouettes on the left edge before popping the flower up with foam adhesive.  The bold sentiment was stamped directly on on top of the honeycomb patterned link in black ink.  To finish the design, I applied some sparkle with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Glitter Brush pen. 2017 July3 Challenge closeup I hope you'll join us this month for our Floral theme!  Such a perfect one for this time of year and I happen to personally love yellow and orange roses!  I might just have to recreate this design in orange! I created a monochromatic collage on the design above using the leaf sprig silhouette from the new Summer Blooms set using Grass, Evergreen and Mermaid inks.  The wonderful, bold sentiment was stamped in black ink on top of the collage.  I mounted the main panel on a piece of Onyx cardstock to frame it a bit and the used foam adhesive to attach the assembled piece to the Sugar cardstock base. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa7 closeup For my next card design, I used the new Banner Sentiments set & coordinating Be Brave dies to accent a couple other stamp sets in the store. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa6 blog The bloom was stamped on Hibiscus cardstock with Hibiscus pigment ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder to give it a little shine.  The Hexagon Background and bee (from the Bee Happy set) were stamped in black ink.  The sentiment (Bee Happy set) and banner (Banner Sentiments set) were also stamped in black and cut out using a Banner Die.  The flower, bee, and banner were all popped up with foam adhesive to add dimension to the design.  The assembled main panel was framed with a piece of Onyx cardstock before being popped up on the Sugar cardstock base with foam adhesive. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa6 closeup I used the flower from the new Dear Friend set to create my next card. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa4 blog The flower is stamped in Hibiscus ink and cut out using the coordinating die.  The leaves are stamped in Grass ink onto a stitched tag from the Tag Bundle Die Set.  Then sentiment and line of grass are both from the Be Brave stamp set.  The assembled tag is popped up on the Sugar cardstock base using foam adhesive for dimension. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa4 closeup Be sure and check out the A Muse Studio Instagram page as you can get this pretty Dear Friend set for FREE ($2 shipping, USA only) by following A Muse on Instagram, liking the giveaway photo and tagging two friends!  Easy as that!
