A Muse Studio September Sneak Peek, Day 2

A Muse Studio September Sneak Peek, Day 2
It's Day Two of Sneak Peeks for the A Muse Studio September Collection!  Today, we're featuring the Fierce stamp set, once that's full of encouraging words in beautiful fonts! I used the fantastic Pinking Circles dies to frame the sentiment, overlapping two pieces to reveal a little pop of pink behind the top white layer.  The pumpkin was stamped directly on pink cardstock and cut out before being popped up with foam adhesive.  I added a little heart in pink ink, embossing with clear embossing powder to add a little shine. I just love the pretty fonts in this set and I think you'll agree once you see all the unique sentiments included in it this Friday!  Stop back tomorrow for a sneak peak of the third stamp set releasing Friday.  You won't be disappointed!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

CASology INSECTS

CASology INSECTS
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  This week it's all about insects and what they make us think of! Week 252 - Insect I chose to use the ever adorable Cute as a Bug sets (Well Preserved Jars set and Party Elements set) by Clear & Simple Stamps to create this get well card.  I created the spider web using one of the thin line images and then added a little black bug, coating it with Crystal Effects for some shine.  The spider was stamped dangling from the top of the card.  I kept the color scheme black and white to keep it super clean and simple!  I added a black piece of cardstock behind the main panel to bring out the black a bit more.  I just love the font of the sentiment!  So classy! I hope you'll play along with us this week as we explore what this cue word makes everyone think of!  We're currently waiting for a praying mantis egg to hatch in our house as a summer project for the kids.  Truthfully, it kind of creeps me out, but I love seeing the excitement in at least two of the boys as they anticipate the arrival of these crazy creatures!  Amazing creatures, but so not my thing!  Eeek! The design team members and this week's guest designer would love to hear from you, so go give them a little virtual wave if you have time this week! DT Badge

CASology Medicine

CASology Medicine
It's time for a brand new cue word over at CASology! Week 251 - Medicine The first thing that came to mind was the Mary Poppin's song, "A Spoonful of Sugar".  I didn't go with the sugar, but did use a spoon with medicine flowing from it!  I masked the flow of medicine, using Broken China Distress Oxide ink.  The spoon (Paper Smooches Healthy Vibes set) was stamped in black and then I paper pieced the medicine to match the masking.  The spoon was fussy cut and popped up with foam adhesive.  The sentiment was stamped in Black Versafine Ink to finish the design.  Super simple! Take a look at what the rest of the design team and this week's guest designer created for inspiration this week! DT Badge

CASology Toy Collection

It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge over at CASology!  You'll want to play along when you see the cue word!

My children love playing with bouncy balls and so I tried to create a ball themed design using Concord & 9th's Let's Chat set.  This set is actually coffee themed, but I used it in an out-of-the-box way...

Get well card, anyone?!  You usually hope someone will "bounce back to health" quickly when they're under the weather, so I thought this was appropriate.  I added little white hearts to the ball using the heart image in the set.  I then added a touch of clear Wink of Stella to make them sparkle a little.  The ball is popped up with foam dots.  I hand drew the bounce path.

Be sure and go say a quick hello to the design team members & this week's guest designer!  They work so hard each week to create inspiration!

CASology Moon

It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!

I'm afraid I had a rather one track mind with this one...

I'm pretty sure I used this image one other time for a challenge, but I had to dig it out again for this one.  I couldn't resist!  The last time I took my two oldest boys together to their annual check ups, they both ended up in a fit of giggles while wearing those crazy gowns!  They had the nurse and I laughing too!

I stamped the image and sentiment in black ink and then colored with Copic markers.  I added pearl embellishments as earrings and added a touch of Glossy Accents to her eye glasses (which the photo does not reveal).  How many of us can say we've had a nurse like this one?!  I certainly can and it was after DD's birth!  Boy, was I happy when her shift was over!

Be sure and leave the design team & this week's guest designer some blog love!  They'd love to hear from you!

CASology: Hot

It's time for a new cue word challenge over at CASology! I don't know about you, but I'm ready for this one!

We got a good foot of snow delivered to our doorstep over the weekend and, while I don't really mind it, I wouldn't mind if it all melted and spring arrived a month or so early either!

Hot reminds me of soup.  There are so many icky bugs circulating in our area that I have a pantry which contains a few cans of chicken noodle soup...just in case.  I'm crossing my fingers that we can all avoid fevers & the accompanying symptoms that are rampant right now!

I made a one layer card for today.  The bowl and sentiment are from the Paper Trey Comfort Food set.  I added a random little heart to the bowl and applied a touch of sparkle.

I hope you'll take the time to visit the design team members' personal blogs as well as our guest designer's blog this week!  They put so much effort into creating and supporting our participants each week!  They'd love to hear from you!

Don't forget to link up you're own HOT creation on the challenge blog for your chance to win May's brand new Valentine set (see CASology blog for details)!

CASology #89: Laughter is the Best Medicine

Laughter really is the best medicine and I just had to make a get well card for this week's JOKE challenge over at CASology...

When you're feeling down and under, a little laughter never hurts.  I remember when my own mother was in the ICU when I was a teenager and moments of laughter were like little mini vacations from the seriousness at hand!

I stamped the main image thinking I was going to color it all in, but changed my mind as I really wanted to preserve as much white space as possible!  Granted the black & white image still takes up space, but it just feels less intrusive without color.  I had to color that hospital gown, however!  Anyone else notice how unattractive those things tend to be?!  I'd love to say that they're comfortable and that makes up for the ugly, but I can't do that.  Who can feel comfortable in something that always has you tugging at the gaping hole that is revealing your backside?!  I added black gemstone earrings to the nurse's ears for dimension and added interest.  The inside reads, "Get well soon."

I hope you'll join us this week as we joke around a bit over at CASology!  Remember these helpful hints when creating a CAS card:

1.  One main image
2.  Lots of open space (uncluttered)
3.  Limited layers & embellishments
4.  Quick & easy to recreate

Don't forget to bop over to the design team member and guest designer blogs to get more details on their humor!

It's a blustery, grey day here today!  Spring is trying so hard to arrive, but winter is being stubborn.  I'm using the extra cool days to get some indoor things done because once the warmer weather arrives to stay, I'm going to be living outside!  Enough of this cabin fever!
Have a terrific Tuesday!

Get Well Wishes

It's a gorgeous day here on the home front and I'm soaking it all in!  Company will be arriving in approximately six hours, but I'm feeling rather relaxed!  We ended up having overnight guests again this Wednesday night into Thursday, so things are somewhat tidy around the house, at least.  I have a few things on my to do list that I'd like to get done yet, but it's no big deal if I don't get them done!  Love that feeling!

I thought I'd peek in (while putting my feet up) and share one of those cards I mentioned were made earlier in the week when I was having a little sanity time!  I had a get well card brewing on my brain when three out of the five of us came down with some kind of short-lived stomach bug starting last Friday.  The other two of us must have crossed our fingers well enough not to be bitten by it (...or are just that much more ornery than the other three).  Whew!

Stamps:  Paper Smooches
Paper:  SU cardstock (Basic Gray, So Saffron), Paper Trey cardstock (white)
Ink:  SU (Whisper White, Basic Gray)
Accessories:  Stickles (silver), foam dots

I layered a panel of SU's Basic Gray and So Saffron cardstocks after stamping the simple sentiment.  After stamping the spoon and little bird images, I cut them out and mounted them on the card using foam dots for dimension.  The Stickles I added as some elixir to make the medicine seem a little more appealing!

I hope your week is wrapping up nicely for you!  Have a fabulous Friday!

An Atypical Monday

It's not the usual Monday around here, but I'm sure you may have guessed that from the complete silence on my part!

After a wonderful three days away from home for the Thanksgiving holiday, all three boys are home from school today feeling under the weather.  Thankfully, after one small episode of needing a wastebasket for DS3, we've had no more of that kind of thing!  So far, it's just some respiratory ick.  After having all three take a nap this afternoon, they seem to be feeling much better!  Crossing my fingers...

Display our button

I did take a little sanity time while they were snoozing to make a quick clean and simple card for the challenge over at the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge.  This week, it's an inspirational photo filled with cheerful yellow, so seemed to be just the thing for me today!

Given the events of the day, a get well card came to mind pretty quickly!  I used one of the little steam images from the Hot Concoctions set to create the pattern on the tissue box before stamping the box image in black.  The tissue box and sentiment are both from the Healthy Vibes set.  So simple!

I hope you are staying well and are fully recovered from your Thanksgiving feast if you celebrated last week!  I seem to have an extra pound keeping me company since then, according to the scale, so I need to tend to that this week!  Nothing a date with the treadmill won't cure...

Enjoy the rest of your Monday!
