A Little Organization

I've been absent again, but will try to post some creative work by the weekend! We've got colds going through our house again and it does wear me out a bit when the majority of us aren't feeling like ourselves! We're also trying to get ready to put some new windows in our house before the snow flies, so have been prepping things for that project! I can't wait to have it done so we can start on woodwork! I may take those words back once we actually start on the woodwork! :)

Here's a little organization idea for anyone interested. I've always wondered what to do with all of my scraps of cardstock! They're always too little to put back in with the bigger sheets, so I'd find myself digging in my files for them or forgetting I even had them. A couple years ago, I decided to solve that problem once and for all. I purchased a package of StampinUp's clear envelopes and started making labels with my label maker! I now have a little basket setting on my table with an envelope of scraps for each color in StampinUp's color families. It's so easy to flip through them to find the scraps for the color/s I'm using for a project...they're in alphabetical order!Continue Reading...

Weaving Experiment

I've always loved baskets and, if I had an endless money supply, would have more Longaberger baskets in my house than I already do! They are so fun to fill up with things that, by themselves, look like clutter! You know, all those pens and pencils stuffed in the kitchen drawer? With a little basket, I can actually display them on my kitchen counter! LOL! This time of year, though, baskets are more fun to fill with goodies and surprises to give away. I decided to attempt making a basket out of cardstock with the guidance of one of Splitcoast Stampers' online tutorials. I'll admit, it was rather frustrating at first, but I actually think I'll be trying another one in the near future! This one turned out decent, but I think with this particular project, practice is going to be the key! How fun!

Coffee Loving Cardmakers + My Favorite Things

I'm back over on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog today featuring My Favorite Things!

My Favorite Things

With coffee and donuts included in their line up of products in the online store, I decided to use the Die-namics LLD Coffee Cup dies along with the LLD Perk Up stamp set to create today's card!

I used kraft cardstock on most elements of the design to keep the color scheme simple.  The little coffee cup sleeve die cut was run through my crimper to give it a little more texture.  (I'd forgotten I owned that tool!)  I filled the negative die cut space with a red heart die cut for a pop of color.  The assembled coffee cup and middle stitched panel are both popped up with foam dots.

I'm so happy to be back to drinking coffee this morning!  I spent the end of last week with an aversion to the stuff due to a stomach bug that hit our family.  I think I'm finally about caught up with laundry and rearranging my calendar, but a good strong cup of coffee should finish putting things back in their proper places by day's end today!  It's magic, I tell ya!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Taking CASology for a Spin

It's time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  Time to get those creative wheels spinning and see where this cue takes you!

For me, there seemed to be endless options, but I settled on an old phone!  Remember those old rotary dial ones?!  I used to love spinning the dial as a little girl.  These days, you're lucky to see one anywhere unless you're intentionally searching!

Stamps:  Unity (Neopolitan Bisque Soup)
I stamped the phone first and then stamped it a second time in black so I could fussy cut the dial.  The dial was attached to the phone with a foam dot and embellished with a single clear gemstone.  I stamped the speech bubble and sentiment in black and then fussy cut & attached it to the card base with foam dots.

Be sure and go say a quick hello to the design team members & this week's guest designer!  They work so hard each week to create inspiration!

Then, don't forget to link up your own creation on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CST) for your chance to win a prize from Cindy B Designs, our sponsor this week!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Chocolate Distress

It's time for a new cue word over at CASology!  This word made me think of heading to the freezer for chocolate ice cream.

Stamps:  Lawn Fawn (Here's the Scoop, On the Mend - sentiment)
Dies:  Lawn Fawn (Stitched Journaling Card)

A damsel in distress...simply needs chocolate.  Don't you agree?!  I have a piece of wall art in my craft room that states, "Chocolate doesn't ask silly questions.  Chocolate understands."  I really think the nutrition officials should just give in and make chocolate a vitamin.  We all know it's a necessary part of life for most of us!  Perhaps my interpretation of the cue word is a little far fetched, but over at CASology we leave interpretation of the cue words wide open!

The ice cream image is colored with Copic markers and a touch of Crystal Effects was added to the hot fudge topping.  The main panel is a Stitched Journaling Card from Lawn Fawn and is popped up with foam dots for a little dimension.

Coffee Loving Cardmakers + Your Next Stamp

Today, over on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog, Your Next Stamp is in the sponsor spotlight!  I created this card to highlight one of their fun stamp sets, Cup of Cheer.

Stamps:  Your Next Stamp (Cup of Cheer)
Dies:  Your Next Stamp (Cup of Cheer Die Set)

I stamped the coffee cup and colored it with Copic markers.  The hearts were stamped & colored with Copic markers before being cut out.  I then added a touch of sparkle to the cookies (Think, ginger snaps!) with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker before popping them up with foam dots.  The entire main panel was also popped up with foam dots.

This fun stamp company is worth a visit!  If you love fun, whimsical images, their products are for you!

Be sure and visit today's post over on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog as there are more details there!

CASology Toy Collection

It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge over at CASology!  You'll want to play along when you see the cue word!

My children love playing with bouncy balls and so I tried to create a ball themed design using Concord & 9th's Let's Chat set.  This set is actually coffee themed, but I used it in an out-of-the-box way...

Get well card, anyone?!  You usually hope someone will "bounce back to health" quickly when they're under the weather, so I thought this was appropriate.  I added little white hearts to the ball using the heart image in the set.  I then added a touch of clear Wink of Stella to make them sparkle a little.  The ball is popped up with foam dots.  I hand drew the bounce path.

Be sure and go say a quick hello to the design team members & this week's guest designer!  They work so hard each week to create inspiration!

Winter/Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Are you ready for a blog hop revolving around a warm beverage? Today is the day! The Winter/Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop has begun!  With 49 Super Sponsors on board, there are prizes galor!  In order to be eligible to win, you just need to link up a newly created winter/holiday themed coffee, cocoa or tea project to the main blog!

I've been wanting to ink up my new I Love Coffee set from Uniko Studio, so created a coffee card using kraft cardstock.

Uniko Studio (I Love Coffee)

I stamped and fussy cut the coffee cup, paper piecing the lid using a piece of Shimmery White cardstock (StampinUp!).  I stamped the beautiful flower in red ink before lightly brushing some white Wink of Stella marker over it.  This gave it a bit of a watercolor appearance.  The cup and entire layered main panel are popped up with foam dots for dimension.

I hope to see you over on the hop!  We're hopping through December 18th, so you have some time to get crafting!  All the hop details can be found HERE!

Have a fabulous Friday!
