CASology BUD

CASology BUD
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word again over at CASology! Kitty Bee Designs is returning as our sponsor and many of the design team are using images from the online store! I used the adorable Bamboo Plant Panda digital image to create my clean & simple design.  I had a leftover frame from a past project that I'd used Distress Oxide inks on and used it to frame my main image and sentiment, gluing it directly onto the main panel.  The panda was colored with Copic markers and a little sparkle was added to the heart with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The simple sentiment is from an A Muse Studio set and is stamped in black.  I added the period with a fine tipped black marker.  The panda was popped up with foam adhesive as was the assembled main panel. I hope you'll take some time to visit the design team member blogs as well as our guest designer's blog!  They've created some wonderful inspiration and would love to hear from you!

PRICKLY at CASology

PRICKLY at CASology
Happy Tuesday!  It's time for a brand new cue word over on the CASology challenge blog and we're going with a rather prickly one this week! As always, we leave the interpretation of the word completely open to individual interpretation, so you may be curious to know what in the world my card has to do with it!  I think any woman would understand that prickly legs are just not something a person wants to have when wearing shorter attire.  Summer is the dedicated shaving season here in the U.S.A.  In the cooler months, one can get away with slacking a bit as we bundle up for the cold.  That said, you may now understand my card design. All stamps are from the Hero Arts April Kit (unfortunately, sold out).  I decided to make a simple black & white design with abundant white space.  I stamped the dress in black and die cut it with the coordinating die.  I added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker and then added several tiny, clear rhinestones to the polka dots.  Some might question whether using all those rhinestones is very clean & simple, but after looking at the finished design, I felt the neutral color and the fact that they are all the same and limited to a very small area of the design, it would qualify.  What do you think? I hope you'll hop around to the blogs of the design team and guest designer!  They'd love to hear from you!

A Honey Bee Stamps Hello

A Honey Bee Stamps Hello
Happy Thursday!  Can you believe tomorrow is Friday again?!  I think I am still in a bit of a daze from vacation.  With four family birthdays falling into these last two months of summer, things are always a bit busier than usual!  Throw a family vacation and the usual summer days & weekend trips in there along with the festivities, and you have a hoppin' house!   It's all good, though!  Summer flies because of this uptick in activities, but I think that just makes autumn that much more enjoyable as things begin to slow to a more relaxed pace and school routines start up again! Today, I'm sharing a monochromatic card that uses simple stitched dies and images from Honey Bee Stamps.  A flower from the Busy Bees stamp set is the focal image on the design.  I chose not to color anything, but kept things very clean looking by only adding color with a strip of kraft cardstock. The main panel is a piece of white cardstock, die cut using the Cloud Borders Dies.  The sentiment (Simple Sentiments set) was stamped in black on the lower half.  I spaced the two pieces apart slightly and then adhered both with foam adhesive to a piece of kraft cardstock to give it the appearance of a little row of dirt.  The flower & stem (Busy Bees set) were stamped in black and die cut on white cardstock.  I glued the upper portion of the stem directly to the top piece of the main panel, tucking in the lower portion behind the lower piece of main panel.  The flower was then popped up with foam adhesive and a single, black rhinestone was added for interest.  The assembled main panel was then popped up on the white card base using more foam adhesive. I love using dies in different ways and these cloud dies were perfect for what I had in mind!  A very simple design and the sentiment could be varied to meet your card needs!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

A Muse Studio August Collection Sneak Peek, Day 1

A Muse Studio August Collection Sneak Peek, Day 1
It's release week over at A Muse Studio!  The August Collection will be in the online store on Friday, so we're sharing sneak peeks until then!  For today, I thought I'd show you a card made with Southern Bouquet, an absolutely gorgeous floral set! logo I started by stamping the bouquet image in black ink, cutting it out with the coordinating die and then used a water brush with a variety of pigment inks to color.  While this was drying, I die cut a stitched panel using one of the dies from A Muse's Tag Bundle to use as the main panel of the design.  On this, I stamped the sentiment in black.  Once the bouquet was dry, I added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The bouquet was popped up to one side of the main panel using foam adhesive and then the main panel was popped up on the cardbase using additional foam adhesive. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard5 closeup I love how this bouquet image really stands out all by itself!  So many color possibilities with this and perfect for most any occasion involving flowers! Stay tuned for more new release inspiration tomorrow!  We have three days of sneak peeks this week and then the entire August Collection will be available in the online store this Friday!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

CASology DIAMOND

CASology DIAMOND
It's time for a new cue word over at CASology!  This week's gallery will be filled with diamonds.  Sounds great, no?! Week 258 - Diamond I thought about this one for a while before settling on a kite image that I found in my stash.  I happen to love kites.  They make me feel like a kid all over again every time I get the opportunity to fly one.  That is, until I run around for a while and notice I'm not quite as spry as I used to be! I started this design by watercoloring two overlapping, shimmery clouds with pearlescent watercolors on a die cut stitched panel (A Muse Studio Tag Bundle dies) of watercolor paper using a Clouds stencil by STAMPlorations.  The kite is from a retired StampinUp! set called Send Me Soaring.  The string was stamped in black ink and then the kite was stamped in red ink before being fussy cut and popped up with foam adhesive.  The sentiment (from Honey Bee Stamps' Message in a Bottle set) was stamped in black ink and three silver star sequins were added as embellishments.  The finished main panel was popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension.  I added just a touch of sparkle to the kite using a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen. 2017 July18 DIAMOND closeup I hope you'll take a little time and visit the blogs of the design team members as well as our guest designer!  They'd love to hear from you! Honey Bee Typewriter Smile

Honey Bee Typewriter Smile
Typewriters are intriguing to me.  I learned to type on one and I think my first office job in high school involved a bit of typing on one, but beyond that, I think computers took over!  I love the little typewriter stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps and was inspired to make a quick, clean and simple design with it this week! I die cut the main panel from black cardstock with a stitched rectangle die from the A2 die set and then spritzed it to give it a little shimmer and a splattered look.  I stamped and cut out the typewriter, coloring it with Copic markers.  A little sparkle was added to the yellow areas with a clear glitter brush marker. 2017 July27 Typewriter closeup The simple sentiment is from the Beautiful Life set.  I added tiny stars and yellow sequins from the Honey Bee sequin mix.  The typewriter was popped up on the main panel using foam adhesive and then the main panel was also popped up on the card base. This typewriter is so adorable and I'm planning on coloring multiples in all different colors with lots of different sentiments!

I hope you've had a wonderful Thursday!

A Blog Named Hero July Floral Challenge

A Blog Named Hero July Floral Challenge
It's time to begin a brand new monthly challenge them over at A Blog Named Hero!  This month our theme is Florals and our sponsor is Winnie & Walter! 2017 JulyChallengeLogo Have you seen all the pretty floral images over at the Winnie & Walter online store?!  I chose to use the The Big, the Bold and Extras set along a large sentiment from their The Big, the Bold and the Happy set to create this design.  I paired them with a simple patterned image from the Hero Arts Busy As A set, layering the elements. Using Hero Arts Butter Bar ink, I inked up the image and spritzed it very lightly with water before stamping it on white cardstock.  This gave the image a lightly mottled look. I then stamped the outline of the flower in black before die cutting it with the coordinating dies.  Next, I stamped the honeycomb designed line from the Hero Arts set directly on the card base with black ink and stamped the leaf silhouettes on the left edge before popping the flower up with foam adhesive.  The bold sentiment was stamped directly on on top of the honeycomb patterned link in black ink.  To finish the design, I applied some sparkle with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Glitter Brush pen. 2017 July3 Challenge closeup I hope you'll join us this month for our Floral theme!  Such a perfect one for this time of year and I happen to personally love yellow and orange roses!  I might just have to recreate this design in orange! Supplies used on this design can be found in Winnie & Walter's online store (stamp sets) as well as at the links found below:   **Please help support A Blog Named Hero by shopping through our links. A Muse Studio Vintage Floral
The A Muse Studio May Collection new release is going strong and I wanted to share another card I made using the new Vintage Floral set! logo I stamped the trio of blooms in Apple ink, spritzing the inked stamp with a little water before stamping it on watercolor paper.  The pretty, clean fonted sentiment is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I splattered the mail panel with a little Apple ink using a watercolor brush and then layered the finished panel on a piece of Apple cardstock.  The assembled piece was then popped up on the Vanilla cardstock base with foam adhesive.  I added three Bubblegum sequins to finish the design. 2017 AprilMelissa8 closeup   I'll be back tomorrow with more inspiration using Time to Party, such a fun set!   2017 Signature Save Save SaveContinue Reading...

A Muse Studio May Collection New Release Day!

A Muse Studio May Collection New Release Day!
Today's the day!  The A Muse Studio May Collection is available in the online store!  Hooray! logo Today, I thought I'd share a little project using the beautiful new Vintage Floral set.  Every time I see this set, I think of Mother's Day which is coming up in just two short weeks!  I die cut a pillow box out of Cotton Candy cardstock using the Small Pillow Box die.  I then stamped the bloom with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I made sure to extend the image over the edge to add a little interest to the side of the box. 2017 AprilMelissa10 closeup   I then stamped a pretty sentiment from the Aren't You Sweet set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  You could fill this box with little treats or even small jewelry as a Mother's Day gift! Do you have your Mother's Day cards and gifts planned &/or prepared?  The Vintage Floral set paired with the Aren't You Sweet set is a perfect combination for your projects! I'll be back tomorrow with even more May Collection inspiration!   2017 SignatureContinue Reading...

CASology STRONG

CASology STRONG
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  This one is full of strength and it's going to be interesting to see how everyone interprets it! Week 244 - Strong I decided to use a digital image from Kitty Bee Designs to create my design.  This time of year, winds are often strong and kite flying is a popular spring time activity!  I printed the panda image and then framed it using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle Die.  I colored the kite with watercolors and then applied a thin layer of sparkle using a Clear Overlay Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen.  The bear's eye spot was colored using a Copic C7 gray marker.  The sentiment is from the Precious Remembrance Shop Positive Thoughts set.  The finished main panel is popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. Be sure and go say hello on the design team member and guest designer blogs! DT Badge

A Muse Studio New Release Spring Chicks

A Muse Studio New Release Spring Chicks
Happy Monday!  I'm back with even more A Muse Studio inspiration today as a design team member and, this time, I'm using some of the adorable chicks included in the two new stamp sets!  I used the larger chick from the Happy Spring set and added two of the little chicks from the Sweet Easter set to create a trio of cuteness.  I simply stamped the chicks and then colored them using a little Neon Yellow Splash ink and a small Aqua Brush to lightly apply the color.  Then sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the one-layer design was done!  A quick design that can be used for a quick note or a spring/Easter occasion! amusestudio.com Be sure and check out all A Muse Studio has to offer!  The new release is so fun and perfect for spring/Easter projects you may be brainstorming! It's another cloudy day here today.  I tend to miss the sun after several days of gray overhead, but at least we have milder temperatures now and going outdoors is a bit more pleasant.   2017 SignatureContinue Reading...
