I Heart Valentine’s Day

A Blog Named Hero April Challenge

A Blog Named Hero April Challenge
It's time for the April A Blog Named Hero Challenge!  This month, we're focusing on Hero Arts and Anything Goes! 2017 Apr Challenge Logo If I had to choose a favorite Hero Arts set right now, it would have to be their Totally set.  Cityscapes always grab my attention!  I combined it with sentiments from their You & Me set and the little heart from the Sealed with a Kiss set for today's design. To create this one layer design, I stamped the cityscape in black ink in the lower left corner and then staggered the sentiments along the top right of the building.  The little heart was stamped in red ink and fussy cut.  I added a little sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The little heart was popped up with foam adhesive to add a little dimension to the simple design. I hope you'll come play along with us this month!  Remember, anything goes! Have a marvelous Monday!   2017 Signature   2017 Supplies Title for Solo Posts

CASology MELT

CASology MELT
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word over at CASology!  This week, we're going for a little melting action in the gallery to celebrate the arrival of spring on the calendar! Week 241 - Melt My thoughts turned toward things that tend to make your heart melt.  For me, it's hugs from little ones!  I simply watercolored the main panel and added a little shimmer with a Heidi Swapp Color Shine spritz before adding a simple die cut sentiment (STAMPlorations Hugs Word Die).  The sentiment was adhered to the main panel using foam adhesive to add a little dimension.  The layered main panel was also adhered to the card base with foam dots. 2017 Mar21 MELT Closeup   I hope you'll join in the fun this week and go leave some blog love on the design team members' blogs!  They've created some fantastic inspiration again this week! Love Note

Love Note
Happy Monday!  After a full weekend, I'm hoping to get a little time in the craft room to work on some cards I need to make.  It's been a bit harder to convince myself to go down and work on paper crafting when the weather outside has been absolutely gorgeous for this time of year!  Sixty degrees (Farenheit) in February?!  I'll take it! I had whipped up this card around Valentine's Day, but haven't shared it until now because the recipient happens to be active in the paper crafting community! The heart die cut is Simon Says Stamp's Heart of Flowers Wafer Die and the main panel was die cut with one of their Stitched Rectangles Dies.  The simple sentiment is from the Poppy Stamps Love Note set.  I watercolored the background panel with red and turquoise paint and spritzed it with Heidi Swapp's White Color Shine Spray for a little shimmer.  The heart panel is popped up over the watercoloring with foam dots.  I love that you can vary the background with this pretty die simply by using different colors and techniques!  I can't wait to play with it more! It looks like it's going to be a rainy day today, so my wish may come true and I'll find myself making crafty messes here in a little bit!  First, coffee.

Have a marvelous Monday!

CASology ROMANCE

CASology ROMANCE
Happy Heart Day! CASology's cue word for the week fits in quite nicely with today's holiday!

Week 236 - Romance

I tend to think along classical and elegant lines when thinking of romance.  I, personally, have a bit of romantic relationship with coffee since I can't seem to live without it.  I thought perhaps if I dressed up a to go cup it might be a bit more romantic for Valentine's Day than the usual kraft colored cups I get at the local coffee shop.  Thank you, Uniko Studio, for providing a wonderful coffee cup image (from the I Love Coffee set) for me to play with as I paper pieced with decorative paper that hasn't seen the light of day in quite some time! I stamped the coffee cup in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, fussy cut and then paper pieced using a print from Echo Park's Yours Truly collection (discontinued).  The little golden heart is from Uniko's Strike a Pose set (retired) and is stamped in gold ink.  I added a little extra gold shimmer using a Wink of Stella Glitter Gold Brush Marker before attaching it to the cup with foam dots.  The main panel is die cut using a die from Simon Says Stamp's Stitched Rectangles Dies.  I stamped the simple sentiment (Uniko's All Occasion Sentiments #5) in black at the top of the main panel before adhering the cup with foam dots.  The assembled panel was also attached to the card base with foam dots.  True love in a cup! I hope you'll take a little time to leave some blog love on the blogs of the design team members and guest designer this week!  They pour a lot of love and creative effort into the inspiration they provide! Loving You

Loving You
Happy Saturday!  Yesterday was a no school day for us and, despite the extra noise and commotion in the house, I actually found a little crafting time mid-afternoon!  DD is really in love with painting these days and loves to spend time in the craft room with me.  Granted, I have many little clean up moments to tend to, but overall, we have fun crafting together! I've been trying to get Valentine's Day things wrapped up.  School valentine exchanges are coming up next Tuesday and I like to have a little something ready to give our kids at supper on the holiday.  The local schools don't allow sugary treats anymore, so pencils it is this year.  For here at home, I try not to go overboard with sugary gifts either, but I do let the kids indulge a little.  Moderation in everything is my personal motto! I was going through some of my beloved Unity Stamp Co. stash recently and realized I have so many treasures hidden away that I haven't touched in ages!  Time to change that!  I created a clean and simple valentine by combining a pretty sentiment from the November 2012 Kit of the Month with hearts from the adorable Loads of Love set.  I stamped the hearts in red and then applied sparkle with a Crafter's Companion Clear Overlay Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen, one of my new favorites.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink.  The main panel was created using Mama Elephant's Peek a Frame Creative Cuts Die Set .  I added a tiny clear gemstone to one of the hearts before popping up the finished main panel with foam dots. A very simple valentine in classic colors!  This could be modified using different sentiments for a variety of people.  Quick and easy is my ball game and this design is so easy to mass produce!

Have a wonderful weekend!

CASology GLISTEN

CASology GLISTEN
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word over at CASology!  This week is bound to inspire a pretty gallery! With Poppystamps returning as our sponsor, I combined a couple of their stamp sets to create my arctic themed design.  I'm pretty sure Antarctica glistens.  A lot. After stamping and fussy cutting the iceberg and sweet little polar bear, I used a Copic marker on the bear's cheeks and ears.  The iceberg was covered with Diamond Stickles for the GLISTEN-ing effect.  I used a Mama Elephant landscape die to create the grounding water piece and then popped everything up with varying heights of foam dots.  The little red heart was also colored with Copic markers, fussy cut and popped up.  I stamped the sentiment below the scene to preserve white space in the main portion of the card. I hope you'll take some time and visit the design team members' blogs, leaving them a little blog love!  They are such an inspiration each week, brainstorming and creating wonderfully CAS designs to jumpstart everyone's creativity! Don't forget to link up your own clean and simple creation on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CST)!

Happy Tuesday!

A CASology CUT

A CASology CUT
It's Tuesday and a new cue word is up for brainstorming over at CASology!  We're going with a small word, but it has many interpretations you could go with!  With STAMPlorations as our sponsor this week, the design team used many of the word die cuts found in the online store to create their CAS designs! I'd chosen the word "Hugs" and used it to create a valentine type card.  I used a pale aqua blue along with pops of red for the main color scheme.  The clouds were stenciled with STAMPlorations' Clouds ARTplorations stencil and white ink.  I stamped a red heart balloon from the Balloons and Banners stamp set, fussy cutting it and dressing it up with red glitter.  It was then adhered to the main panel using foam dots. 2017 Jan17 CUT peek The "hugs" was die cut with the Hugs Word Die polka dot paper using polka dot decorative paper and adhered directly to the main panel.  The assembled main panel was then adhered to the card base using foam dots for dimension. I hope you'll take a little time to visit the design team members' and guest designer's blogs and leave a little blog love this week!  I know they'd love to hear from you!

A CASology Valentine

The count down is on. Valentine's Day projects are most likely beginning to settle into that last minute panic mode.  I have two elementary aged school children with classroom parties this Friday and do you think I've gotten anything made yet?!  Did you know I am probably one of the world's finest procrastinators?  Don't worry, they'll go to school with cute little gifts in hand!  I have plenty of time...three entire days!

CASology will provide plenty of inspiration this week if you're still in need of some!  With a cue word focusing entirely on valentine, you won't be disappointed!

I love clean & simple valentines!  This word made me think of Cupid and his arrows.  Having no image of that diaper clad lad, I went with a single arrow and a sentiment from Uniko Studio's All Occasion Sentiments #5 set.

The main panel is spritzed with pink Heidi Swapp Color Shine.  I stamped the sentiment in black and then added the glitter adorned arrow.  I added dimension by popping up the framed main panel on the card base.

Be sure and go say a quick hello to the design team members & this week's guest designer!  They work so hard each week to create inspiration!
