A Muse Studio Chicks

A Muse Studio Chicks
I'm back today sharing some cute chicks from the A Muse Studio new release. logo I'm loving the Landscape Dies and decided to use the cloud shaped one to add a little dimension to the design.  I trimmed my die cut piece of Sugar cardstock to fit the corner of the card base.  The adorable little chicks are stamped on Lemon Whip cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, cut out and popped up beneath the stitched die cut with foam adhesive.  I colored their beaks with an orange Copic marker.  The sentiment was also stamped in black.  The chicks and sentiment are both from the new Sweet Easter set.  The stitched die cut was attached to the card base using foam adhesive. 2017 MarchMelissa6 Closeup WM This card would be a great friendship card, don't you think? That wraps up my marathon of ideas for this month's spring/Easter release!  Now I get to dig into next month's goodies and start brainstorming and designing!  You're going to love next month's new release!  Promise!   2017 SignatureContinue Reading...

A Muse Studio New Release Spring Chicks

A Muse Studio New Release Spring Chicks
Happy Monday!  I'm back with even more A Muse Studio inspiration today as a design team member and, this time, I'm using some of the adorable chicks included in the two new stamp sets!  I used the larger chick from the Happy Spring set and added two of the little chicks from the Sweet Easter set to create a trio of cuteness.  I simply stamped the chicks and then colored them using a little Neon Yellow Splash ink and a small Aqua Brush to lightly apply the color.  Then sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the one-layer design was done!  A quick design that can be used for a quick note or a spring/Easter occasion! amusestudio.com Be sure and check out all A Muse Studio has to offer!  The new release is so fun and perfect for spring/Easter projects you may be brainstorming! It's another cloudy day here today.  I tend to miss the sun after several days of gray overhead, but at least we have milder temperatures now and going outdoors is a bit more pleasant.   2017 SignatureContinue Reading...

A Muse Studio: Combining New & Older Stamps!

A Muse Studio: Combining New & Older Stamps!
Happy first day of the week!  I'm back with more inspiration using more of the brand new A Muse Studio new release!  This time I combined images from a new set with one from an older set! The little chick is from a previously released set called Tiptoe Through the Tulips and coordinates so nicely with the newest sets!  I just couldn't resist combining them on a card!  The grass and leaf sprig are from the new Sweet Easter set.  I used Grass and Orange inks for these.  I colored the grass and flower centers (Neon Yellow ink) by simply dipping a watercolor brush in the ink and gently applying it to the images. The chick was stamped twice in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, once directly on the card base and again onto the new Bermuda Petite Gingham cardstock. 2017 MarchMelissa5 Closeup WM The gingham image was cut out and adhered to the image on the card base. The beak was colored with a Copic marker.  I stamped the sweet little sentiment on a rectangular piece of Sugar cardstock and attached it to the card base using foam adhesive for dimension.  To finish off the design, I freehanded some little bird footprints with a black marker. I have had so much fun with this new release and can't wait to share more inspiration tomorrow!  I hope you're having a good weekend! Have a relaxing Sunday! 2017 Signature SaveContinue Reading...

A Muse Studio New Release Washi Tape Inspiration

A Muse Studio New Release Washi Tape Inspiration
By now, you've probably seen all the new goodies over in the A Muse Studio online store!  I hope you've grabbed the things you want, but if you haven't, head on over and do so!  Your spring and Easter projects are waiting! Today, I thought I'd share a super simple card using the fantastic new Stitched Eggs Dies all dressed up with some of the new Spring Floral Washi Tape!  I covered some Sugar (white) cardstock with the washi tape before die cutting it using three different sized stitched eggs.  I layered these together on the main panel with foam adhesive.  The sentiment is from the Sweet Easter set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Little twinkle dots (rhinestones) were added to the eggs in green and orange.  The assembled main panel was attached to the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. 2017 MelissaMarch2 Closeup WM Such a simple, quick card to make and I love that it uses washi tape!  No fussing over coloring! Be sure and check out the rest of the design team blogs if you have time!  We're all sharing new release inspiration every day through next week, so you'll have lots of fun ideas to see! 2017 SignatureContinue Reading...

A Muse Studio Sneak Peek: Day 2

A Muse Studio Sneak Peek: Day 2
It's Day 2 of sneak peeks over at A Muse Studio!  Today, I'm sharing a super clean and simple design I created with the new Happy Spring stamp set, being released this Friday!  It's a cute little set and this adorable bunny is one of the critters included in it! I stamped and fussy cut the bunny (coordinating dies will be available with the new release).  I die cut a little bow tie using one of the new release gingham cardstocks and the mini bow tie die.  I popped up the assembled bunny & bow tie with foam adhesive on the white cardstock base after stamping the simple sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. 2017 MarchMelissa9 Closeup WM Such a simple card and you could use a variety of patterned cardstock to vary the bow tie a bit!  Great for mass producing, but with a variety of patterns and colors! Tomorrow is the final day of sneak peeks!  You might want to get your wish list started because Friday the entire new release will be available in the online store!  Don't forget to follow along with A Muse on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates and inspiration! A Muse Studio Sneak Peek: Day 1

A Muse Studio Sneak Peek: Day 1
Excitement is in the air!  Today is Day 1 of A Muse Studio's sneak peeks for Friday's new release!  Spring and Easter are on our minds now and you're going to love what's included in the new goodies that will soon be in the store! For today's sneak peek, I chose to create a design using some of the new release patterned cardstocks for paper piecing!  If you like cuddly little bunnies, this release is for you!  Bunnies are running rampant (along with some other critters)!  The trio I used on this design are from the new Sweet Easter stamp set.  After paper piecing the bunnies, I layered them with die cuts from the Landscape Die set and chose Grass cardstock for the grass.  I assembled the scene on the main panel using foam adhesive for dimension. 2017 MelissaMarch1 Closeup WM Stay tuned for another sneak peek tomorrow!  In the meantime, go ahead and follow A Muse on Instagram and like their page on Facebook to keep updated on current events and the upcoming new releases!Continue Reading...

A Hoppy Hello

It's Tuesday and that means it's time for a new cue word over at CASology!  As we're getting plastered with yet another round of heavy snow, I'm sitting inside thinking about spring!  Thank goodness this week's cue word is spring themed!

I've seen a few more birds around the yard, but nothing other than a few tracks in the snow when it comes to bunnies!  I'm sure once the weather begins to warm up, we'll see baby bunnies quite frequently!

For my card, I kept it very clean and very simple!  Lots of white space was on my mind...probably due to the amount of white I'm seeing in the landscape again?  A little pop of pink, a punny sentiment, a corner rounder and I was done!

I hope you'll take some time to visit the blogs of the design team and our guest designer this week as they have created some fun inspiration!

Don't forget to link up your own BUNNY creation on the CASology challenge blog by Sunday at 4 p.m. (CST) for your chance to win some great prizes from this week's sponsor, Cindy Coutts Designs!

I'm hoping to spend a little time in the craft room today since the weather isn't exactly encouraging me to go outdoors for very long.  My workout will probably consist of snow shoveling!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Can’t Help Myself!

More snowflakes have been drifting steadily out of the sky today and I had to run into my craft room for some therapy!  Spring, where are you?!!

I frantically dug out as many flower stamps as I could find and settled on one from SU!'s Betsy's Blossoms set.  It had been neglected for much too long, so I inked it up in some Concord Crush ink (SU).

I CASE'd this card over on Splitcoast Stampers by Ceal (a.k.a. simplybeautiful), for this week's featured stamper on the Clean & Simple challenge.  I was immediately drawn to the big, bold flower on her card and took it from there!

Only one more day until March 1st arrives.  I'm ready for green grass and beautiful blooms.  I'd even be willing to mow the lawn, if given the chance right now!  Yes, winter has lost it's glory for me at this point in the season.  I don't mean to sound all gloomy about snow, but aren't bright, colorful blooms and barefoot days a rather exciting thought?!

I hope you've had a wonderful Wednesday!

Spring Rain

Spring is really beginning to show itself even though the temperatures have dropped back down toward freezing.  I'm crossing my fingers that the beauty that is emerging around us won't get bitten by Jack Frost before steady warmth arrives!

This month over at The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog, we're to make spring cards using pastel colors.  Our sponsor this month is Meljen's Designs, an online shop with a ton of adorable, heart warming images!  The prize this month is four (non-colored) digital images from the store!

For my card this week, I chose to use this little umbrella, called Heart Strings Parasol.

I used some decorative paper from my retired Stampin Up! stash and some coordinating cardstock.  The cloud is actually the top of the cupcake from the Stampin Up! cupcake punch!  (I love it when things can be used for more than what they were originally intended!)  The little pink dots are tiny pink gemstones, but the photo doesn't show them very clearly, unfortunately.

**I am also entering this card in the I {Heart} 2 Stamp April Sketch challenge.

Butterfly Tree

(Note:  Be sure and scroll down as there are two posts for today!)

A mild, warm week ahead and I'm envisioning parks and lots of outdoor activities!  Is it really March?!  S-M-I-L-E!

It's Prickley Pear Monday!  I used the new Butterfly Tree to create today's card.  I stamped the tree in Whisper White ink and then stamped just a few of the butterflies in Real Red ink.  I then cut out one of the red butterflies and adhered it to the tree using a foam dot.  I also added a few gemstones for a little extra sparkle and interest.

Supplies:
Stamps - Prickley Pear (Butterfly Tree)
Paper - Paper Trey white cardstock, SU cardstocks (Real Red, Basic Black)
Ink - SU (Whisper White, Real Red)
Accessories - gemstones, SU taffeta ribbon (Real Red), foam dot (popped up white butterfly)

Gold

Today is the beginning of a new challenge over at The Stamping Boutique!  This time, we're to use gold on our cards!  Being in a CAS (Clean & Simple) kind of mindset lately, I created this simple spring card, using gold cord and, of course, the color yellow (a.k.a. gold).  Now I'm just waiting for the real daffodils and tulips to bloom!
