A Muse Studio August Collection New Release Day!

A Muse Studio August Collection New Release Day!
Today is release day over at A Muse Studio and you're going to love it all! logo I created a modern looking design for the first card in my post today.  It reminds me a little of some of the decor in the hotels these days with bold color blocks!  I simply cut three strips of varying colors (Orange, Grass, Buttercup) to create a square main panel, adhering them to a square piece of Sugar cardstock.  Once assembled, I stamped a row of three leaves (Bouquet Builder set) on the center of the panel.  The main panel was then popped up on the card base (5x5) with foam adhesive for dimension and the simple sentiment was stamped below and slightly to the right. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard6 closeup For my second card, I used the ice cream cone image from the You're Cool stamp set. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard10 blog I simply stamped three cones, die cut them using the coordinating dies and colored them by spritzing each one with a different color Splash spray!  Super easy coloring!  Once dry, I colored the cone portion with a brown Copic marker and applied a little glitter to the ice cream using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The cones were then popped up with foam adhesive and the banner sentiment (from the same set) was stamped below in black ink. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard10 closeup For a limited time, you can get this set FREE with any $35 purchase!  How great is that?! You're Cool Set So much fun and versatility in these new sets!  Summer blooms and ice cream?!  I'm loving these!  Go check them out in the online store!

Have a fabulous Friday!

Colour Q Summer Greetings

I haven't played along in many card challenges in recent months.  I've missed doing so, but life's priorities put card making a bit lower on the to do list than my human nature would prefer.  That's just how it goes.

I found a little time this morning to play along with Colour Q's challenge (which ends in just a few short hours).  It was raining again and I needed to create a little sunshine!

These colors just grabbed my attention and pulled me in.  So warm and inviting!  And flip flops?!  I knew exactly which stamp set was going to get inked up.  It's been a while, but I dusted off Paper Trey's Flipping Out and went to work!

I didn't have the exact colors listed as for some reason, I never ordered the newest In Color palette from Stampin' Up!  I'll have to remedy that now that the new catalog is in my hands.  Crushed Curry was substituted for Hello Honey.  I stamped the floral flip flops in Pool Party ink on So Saffron cardstock.  The outline of the flip flops and the sentiment were stamped in Soft Suede (Oh, how I still love that color!).  I added a gemstone the color of Pool Party to the center of the flower after I'd added a little Wink of Stella marker sparkle.  The flip flops, flower and stitched main panel were all popped up with foam dots.

I'm ready for sunshine.  The last few days have been nothing but rain and gray skies.  With four children in the house, we're all due for some outdoor play!

I hope you've had a marvelous Monday!

Too Much Happy

After a fun-filled, sugar high day yesterday at the fair, Friday has arrived and we're gearing up for a weekend with family.  DH's sister and family are coming for an overnight stay tomorrow before they head off to start their vacation.  There will be five boys in the house once their two are added to our three, so things will soon be getting even livelier around here!  Better batten down the hatches!

For today's Unity Friends with Flair, I played around with one of the Itty Bitty sets.  It was getting a bit late by the time I started and I'm not so sure I'm all that happy with this card.  I just feel like there is too much bling and not enough interest, but I'll share it with you anyway!  I do love the image and sentiment as they remind me of our fair adventure yesterday!

Stamps:  Unity (Never Too Much Happy)

This made me happy cold, fresh lemonade...

...and one funnel cake!

Have a Fun Friday!

I'll be back tomorrow with a card featuring the new color duo for the Dynamic Duos Challenge!

Cool Down

SU:  Mouthwatering set, Paper Trey:  sentiment
We're having a few days of beautiful summer weather now that the first heat wave has finally left us!  It's amazing how easily one's perspective changes on the temperature outside after several days of 90-100+ degree F temperatures!  Mid to upper 80's seem so cool now!  We've been eating our fair share of cold treats through it all, so I had to create a card featuring a summer frozen dessert!

This is a very simple card!  I colored the popsicle with my SU markers before stamping it, stamped the sentiment (which was also colored with markers) and then added Crystal Effects to the orange portion of the popsicle.  I then rounded the corners of the card and called it good.

A couple more days of wonderful weather and then the temperatures are going to creep back up into the 90's!  Better restock the freezer!  Here we go again!

Summertime Treats

Challenge Blog

A new challenge has started over at The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog!  This month, the theme is Summer with Pearls & Swirls and Meljen's Designs is our sponsor.

I had fun with this card.  Summer, in my mind, means a wide variety of cold treats become readily available and root beer floats are near the top of my favorites list!  However, only A&W root beer will do!  Do you have a favorite summertime treat?

The main image is colored with Copic Markers.  I embossed the white panel behind the main image with a swirly Cuttlebug embossing folder and added a red pearl as the cherry.  I couldn't resist adding a bit of clear Stickles to the top of the float and a little Crystal Effects to the glass dish!  The digital float image can be found here.

Summer Defined

I don't know about you, but summer is coming to a close much too quickly for my liking!  I was thinking about summer and what it means to our family today and came up with a few things I think could summarize it for us.

Summer is sparklers and sprinklers.

Summer is lightning and thunder.

Summer is late nights and slowed down mornings.

Summer is discovering where we forgot to rub on the sunscreen.

Summer is vacation time.

Summer is mud.

Summer is bike rides and leisurely family walks.

Summer is fresh picked blueberries.

Summer is sand between our toes.

Summer is a blink that happens so quickly you can hardly tell the difference between where it began & where it ended.

What defines your summer?
