STAMPlorations Giving Thanks Blog Hop

STAMPlorations Giving Thanks Blog Hop
It's time for the third annual Giving Thanks Blog Hop & Wishlist Linky Party with STAMPlorations!  We're focusing on gratitude themed cards and using the STAMPlorations product line.  Full details can be found on the STAMPlorations blog. You should have arrived here from Deepti's blog! For my design, I used a STAMPlorations tag die for my sentiment focused design.  I started with some washi tape I had in my stash and adhered three lines of it to the lower portion of the card base.  I then die cut the tag using .  I then stamped the STAMPlorations Thy Goodness sentiment in black ink on a piece of kraft cardstock and popped it up on the tag using foam adhesive.  I applied a dot of gold Stickles to the sun in the upper right corner. I finished the design by popping up the assembled tag on the card base.  That's it!  A clean and simple gratitude of design! Now it's time to head on over to Carol's blog as you continue on the hop!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Honey Bee Stamps Die Cut Thanks

Honey Bee Stamps Die Cut Thanks
Hello!  I'm back with a little Honey Bee Stamps inspiration using a word die on a clean & simple design! I used a white 5x5 cardbase for this design.  A piece of white cardstock was cut into a 4x4 size and then the stitched square was die cut in the middle of it using one of the dies in the Honey Bee Stamps' Double Stitched Square Die set.  Rather than using the middle square from the resulting cut, I used the outer stitched frame.  I then cut a 4x4 square from a piece of kraft cardstock and adhered then stamped multiple leaves from the Bushel and a Peck stamp set in white on it.  Once those were dry, I adhered the narrow white frame directly to the kraft piece.  Next, I die cut the word twice.  The Thanks die comes with two dies, one is bold and thick.  The second die is more of a script font and much more delicate.  I die cut the bolder one in black and the delicate on in kraft and then glued them together.  I used foam adhesive to adhere the assembled word to the main panel.  The finished design was then adhered to the card base using more foam adhesive to give the overall design some nice dimension. I don't know about you, but autumn weather somehow makes me reach for kraft cardstock.  Loving this change when creating designs this time of year!  I'm sure I'll ease back to completely white designs as the snow begins to fly, but I'm enjoying the warmth that kraft cardstock brings to designs!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

World Gratitude Day with Honey Bee Stamps

World Gratitude Day with Honey Bee Stamps
Today is World Gratitude Day and I wanted to be sure and take time to say THANK YOU to those who visit my blogs, Instagram feeds and Facebook pages, supporting my creative adventures with kind words and encouragement.  It's definitely a journey and when I look back at where I started, it's crazy how much my crafting style has changed over the years!  It takes time and lots of patience to find your personal niche, but today I can truly say I believe I've finally found mine in the clean and simple world of card making.  My photography continues to evolve and I feel like I'm still trying to find my true, defined niche with that, but I'm enjoying the journey!  The creative community is such a wonderful place filled with outstanding individuals who uplift each other daily.  I know I've had the privilege of having the loving support of fellow creatives throughout the world and I want to pass on the same with heartfelt gratitude, inspiring others to have the courage to keep creating, keep believing and use your creative gift to touch the lives of those in need. My simple card for today is filled with thankfulness despite it being super clean & simple.  I used the pumpkin from a new set called Acorn Sisters from Honey Bee Stamps as the main image, stamping it on white cardstock and spritzing it with a little gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine. It was fussy cut and popped up on a watercolored die cut panel with foam adhesive.  The little sentiment was stamped in black and little sequins were added as embellishments.  The assembled main panel was then popped up on the white card base with more foam adhesive and the design was complete! I hope you've had a wonderful Thursday!  Be sure and visit the Honey Bee Stamps online store at midnight tonight when the new release goes live!   Save Continue Reading...

A Muse Studio September Sneak Peek, Day 3

A Muse Studio September Sneak Peek, Day 3
It's the final day of the September Collection sneak peeks over at A Muse Studio!  That means tomorrow is Release Day!  Are you excited?! Today, we're featuring the Eat, Drink & Be Thankful set.  I decided to create a simple tag to highlight the wonderful, large sentiment included in this set.  The tag was created using the tag die that is included in the Tag Bundle die set.  I stamped the pretty sentiment in French Roast ink and then added two little orange twinkle stickers and Vanilla twine as embellishments. So simple, but I am envisioning this little tag being put to use for Thanksgiving festivities! Head on over to the A Muse blog and be sure to leave a comment on the sneak peek posts for your chance to win!  Then, get that wish list ready for tomorrow!  Happy shopping!  I'll be back with more new release inspiration, so be sure and stop by here on my blog over the next few days!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

A Muse Studio September Sneak Peek, Day 1

A Muse Studio September Sneak Peek, Day 1
It's release week over at A Muse Studio!  The September Collection will become available this Friday and we're sharing three days of sneak peeks to gear up for release day! Today, I'm sharing a peek at the new Hello Pumpkin set!  Using a monochromatic color scheme, I used gold embossing powder & star sequins to add a little interest and shine to the design. I stamped each pumpkin in black ink and cut them out.  The gold embossing powder was applied to the spots on one and then I popped up the trio of pumpkins using foam adhesive.  The sentiment was added in black and three gold star sequins were used as embellishments. I love black and gold together and those spots on the pumpkins were just crying out for a little gold accenting!  Stay tuned for another sneak peek tomorrow of a brand new sentiment set.  You'll love it, especially with October right around the corner!

Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday!

Gobble

Did you hear that?!  I think I hear Thanksgiving coming!  I hear plans being made for a big feast, little boys talking excitedly about seeing their cousins & people discussing what they will (or won't) be shopping for on Black Friday.  I see a packing list forming for filling suitcases, groceries coming in the door for holiday baking and...a new cue word over at CASology!

I'm subconsciously drooling over the food I'm imagining in my head!  I'm also trying to ignore that little voice that is reminding me to eat s-l-o-w-l-y on Turkey Day in hopes of lessening that post meal feeling of being stuffed and lethargic!  Think it will work?  I don't know.  Turkey, a sweet potato dish, green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, bread rolls, fudge, caramel corn, pie...sigh.  Is it any wonder we find the need to set New Year's resolutions after holidays like this?!

Stamps:  Unity, Elzybells (sentiment - company no longer in business)
I chose to use white on white with just a pop of color.  The polka dot pot is popped up with a foam dot.  I tried to add some embellishments, but kept coming back to this clean design!

Be sure and check out the rest of the design team's creation, including Donna's, our guest designer!

Remember to link up your own creations on the challenge blog by Sunday at noon (CST)!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

A Grateful Heart

It's the beginning of another new week and I'm sharing a card I started last week. Card making was trumped by family fun (as it should be)! We took off for an overnight stay at a motel with a waterpark (Thank you, Priceline)! We'd originally planned to take the boys to a zoo that is south of us, but with the temperatures dipping lower than originally forecasted, we opted to do something indoors! The boys had a blast and we really enjoyed some time away from home! We ended the weekend with trick-or-treating back in our old stomping grounds. DH and I were accompanied by two skeletons and Tigger. Oh, what fun!

I'm still in leaf jumping mode, but with the temperatures delivering white frost for breakfast in the mornings, I think my mindset will soon be shifting to other things!  I fully intended to play along with Unity's Friends with Flair on Friday, but didn't get around to it with all the fun things we had going on!

Stamps:  Unity
I used stamps from the 2012 August and October Kits of the Month.  The leaves I inked up with SU's Daffodil Delight and then lightly tapped the stamp onto More Mustard to achieve a two-tone look.  The sentiment is not placed exactly where I wanted it because I didn't leave quite enough room under the leaves on the banner strip.  Ah well.  So is the life of a stamper.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Have yourself a marvelous Monday!

The Nearly Forgotten Holiday

After a chilly weekend, we're looking forward to a week filled with beautifully mild days!  We're going to enjoy them by grilling, visiting the park and going for some long walks!  Winter is coming and this kind of weather won't be here very much longer.  Funny how you appreciate things more when you know they won't be here forever.

Today, I'm sharing a card I made with Thanksgiving in mind.  All too often, things move from Halloween to Christmas without much thought going into this holiday other than the delicious meal that is devoured in a couple hours and the Black Friday deals the following day.  This year we won't be spending Thanksgiving with my parents or siblings as we usually do, so I want to send some warm gratitude their way.  I used a clear stamp set from Prickley Pear to make a simple card and played along with the current sketch challenge over at Card Patterns.

Supplies:
Stamps - Prickley Pear (Oak & Maple Leaf Clear Stamp Set)
Paper - SU Early Espresso & Daffodil Delight CS, Basic Grey DP (Mellow)
Ink - SU Early Espresso
Accessories - Prickley Pear Scalloped Circle Die, SU scalloped border punch, American Crafts stitched ribbon, SU Brights Buttons, SU Real Red, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie markers (for sentiment), baker's twine

I wanted to send a little thank you to my son's teacher tomorrow before the Thanksgiving holiday begins.  I came up with an owl dressed as a turkey on a gift card holder.  I used SU's word window punch for the feathers, cutting the punched shapes in half and adhering them to the back of the owl.

Paper - SU gift card holder, SU Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Real Red, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie CS, SU Welcome Neighbor DSP
Ink - SU Chocolate Chip
Accessories - googly eyes, SU Owl Punch, SU Word Window Punch, SU Chocolate Chip marker ("4U")
