First Day on the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team!

First Day on the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team!
I'm feeling a bit excited as I'm now officially beginning my position on the Honey Bee Stamps Social Media Design Team!  I get to share designs using their fantastic stamps all over social media in the months ahead!  How fun is that?! 2017 Honey Bee DT Badge I have some wedding anniversaries coming up in my extended family this summer, so thought I'd design something with that type of theme.  I used a large sentiment with a pretty font from the Happiness Stamp Set and paired it with a smaller sentiment with a clean font from the same set.  This design is a classic black, white and red one!  The little heart is from the Simple Sentiments Set.  I added a little red glitter to it for some sparkle and then added a sticky black rhinestone to the "i" of the large sentiment.  The main panel was die cut using one of the A2 Double Stitched Frames Dies.  To create a little interest, I cut a small banner out of a piece of Zen Floral Washi tape and adhered it to the upper left corner.  The assembled main panel was then popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. This is a very clean & simple design that can be recreated easily! Stay tuned for more Honey Bee inspiration each week and get ready for a brand new release in July!     SaveContinue Reading...

A Muse Studio July Collection Sneak Peek!

A Muse Studio July Collection Sneak Peek!
Excitement is in the air as we gear up for the release of the A Muse Studio July Collection!  This Friday will be the big day and you are going to love this beautiful collection of new products! logo Today, I'm sharing a card using the new Summer Blooms set, a gorgeous collection of floral images with coordinating dies to match! I wanted to make a pocket with flowers peeking out and the Chevron Pennant Duo dies were perfect for the idea!  I used the smaller of the two dies, scoring and folding over the top of it before adding a line of pretty pink, polka dotted paper tape (also releasing this Friday!).  I stamped the flowers in Hibiscus, Melon, Cotton Candy inks & the leaf sprigs in Evergreen ink before die cutting them with the coordinating dies for the new stamp set.  The sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink on the pocket.  I then layered the flowers behind the pocket, attaching the pocket to the Sugar card base with foam adhesive for dimension.  I finished the design by adding little white pearls to the flower centers as embellishments. 2017 JulyCollection Melissa1 closeup

I love the way this turned out!  Such a sweet, simple card and you could vary the colors of the flowers and tape, so easily for variety!  Be sure and visit the A Muse Studio blog today and the next two days, leaving comments each day for your chance to win!

Stop back tomorrow for another sneak peek of the July Collection new release!

A Muse Studio Stitched Easter Eggs

A Muse Studio Stitched Easter Eggs
Happy Tuesday!  I'm back with an Easter card today using A Muse Studio's brand new Stitched Eggs Dies!  These dies are so full of possibilities! amusestudio.com For this card, I used a Vanilla cardstock base.  I used Splash inks to create a watercolored look on a piece of watercolor paper before die cutting the stitched eggs. 2017 MarchMelissa8 Closeup WM I then lined up the trio and adhered the individual eggs to the card base using foam adhesive to add a little dimension.  Vanilla twine was tied around one of the eggs to add a little interest to the design.  The sentiment is from the new Happy Spring set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink below the eggs.  I finished the card by adding a strip of the pretty new Slim Spring Duo Washi Tape near the bottom of the design. I can just see myself die cutting a pile of these beautiful stitched eggs!  There are six different sizes of eggs in the set, so lots of options for craft projects! I'll be back with another new release idea tomorrow, so be sure and stop back to grab some more inspiration!   2017 Signature  Continue Reading...

Washi Color

I've had some washi tape stashed away and I think every time I've walked into my craft room I've looked at it and wondered how in the world I am going to use it!

With this week's Clean & Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers, I finally found my opportunity!  We were to use a sketch and this is what I came up with:

I rotated the sketch and used washi tape to create some banners.  Bright and cheerful.  I may very well send this to school with one of my DS's for a teacher.

I promised I'd share the final draft of the baby shower invite I was working on last week, so here it is...

The original design just felt a bit off to me!  I played around with it a bit and decided not to fussy cut the crown, but used a circle frame to keep it from getting lost in the bold patterned strip.  I also changed the placement of the sentiment and crown.  I ended up happy with this redesign and all 42 invitations are now in the mail!

I hope you're having some decent weather wherever you are!  We dropped from 70 degrees over the weekend to the 30's today!  Not my idea of pleasant, but I don't think Mother Nature has comfort levels at the top of her priority list these days!

Have yourself a marvelous Monday!
