World Gratitude Day with Honey Bee Stamps

World Gratitude Day with Honey Bee Stamps
Today is World Gratitude Day and I wanted to be sure and take time to say THANK YOU to those who visit my blogs, Instagram feeds and Facebook pages, supporting my creative adventures with kind words and encouragement.  It's definitely a journey and when I look back at where I started, it's crazy how much my crafting style has changed over the years!  It takes time and lots of patience to find your personal niche, but today I can truly say I believe I've finally found mine in the clean and simple world of card making.  My photography continues to evolve and I feel like I'm still trying to find my true, defined niche with that, but I'm enjoying the journey!  The creative community is such a wonderful place filled with outstanding individuals who uplift each other daily.  I know I've had the privilege of having the loving support of fellow creatives throughout the world and I want to pass on the same with heartfelt gratitude, inspiring others to have the courage to keep creating, keep believing and use your creative gift to touch the lives of those in need. My simple card for today is filled with thankfulness despite it being super clean & simple.  I used the pumpkin from a new set called Acorn Sisters from Honey Bee Stamps as the main image, stamping it on white cardstock and spritzing it with a little gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine. It was fussy cut and popped up on a watercolored die cut panel with foam adhesive.  The little sentiment was stamped in black and little sequins were added as embellishments.  The assembled main panel was then popped up on the white card base with more foam adhesive and the design was complete! I hope you've had a wonderful Thursday!  Be sure and visit the Honey Bee Stamps online store at midnight tonight when the new release goes live!   Save Continue Reading...

Honey Bee Stamps Ocean Background Birthday

Honey Bee Stamps Ocean Background Birthday
Another week is winding down!  July & August are full months in our house with birthdays, birthdays and more birthdays!  With birthdays on the brain, I created a simple, fun birthday card to share today. I love the Ocean Borders stamp set and used the background stamp from it to create the background on this design.  It reminds me of all those coloring books on the market right now!  I stamped the "birthday" sentiment in black and added a small black rhinestone to dot the i. To create the letters for "Happy", I watercolored a rainbow onto a piece of watercolor paper and splattered it with a little gold watercolor before drying it.  Once dry, I stamped the letters and die cut them with the coordinating dies.  The letters were then popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. Such a simple, versatile design!  I may try varying the colors on the letters, maybe even attempt a polka dot pattern! We have four nights/three days of guests arriving with the weekend and I have a senior photo shoot to do this evening, so it's time to set the ink and paper aside now and focus on other things!

Have a happy Thursday and a wonderful weekend!

A Muse Studio August Collection Sneak Peek, Day 1

A Muse Studio August Collection Sneak Peek, Day 1
It's release week over at A Muse Studio!  The August Collection will be in the online store on Friday, so we're sharing sneak peeks until then!  For today, I thought I'd show you a card made with Southern Bouquet, an absolutely gorgeous floral set! logo I started by stamping the bouquet image in black ink, cutting it out with the coordinating die and then used a water brush with a variety of pigment inks to color.  While this was drying, I die cut a stitched panel using one of the dies from A Muse's Tag Bundle to use as the main panel of the design.  On this, I stamped the sentiment in black.  Once the bouquet was dry, I added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The bouquet was popped up to one side of the main panel using foam adhesive and then the main panel was popped up on the cardbase using additional foam adhesive. 2017 AugRelease MelissaCard5 closeup I love how this bouquet image really stands out all by itself!  So many color possibilities with this and perfect for most any occasion involving flowers! Stay tuned for more new release inspiration tomorrow!  We have three days of sneak peeks this week and then the entire August Collection will be available in the online store this Friday!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

CASology DIAMOND

CASology DIAMOND
It's time for a new cue word over at CASology!  This week's gallery will be filled with diamonds.  Sounds great, no?! Week 258 - Diamond I thought about this one for a while before settling on a kite image that I found in my stash.  I happen to love kites.  They make me feel like a kid all over again every time I get the opportunity to fly one.  That is, until I run around for a while and notice I'm not quite as spry as I used to be! I started this design by watercoloring two overlapping, shimmery clouds with pearlescent watercolors on a die cut stitched panel (A Muse Studio Tag Bundle dies) of watercolor paper using a Clouds stencil by STAMPlorations.  The kite is from a retired StampinUp! set called Send Me Soaring.  The string was stamped in black ink and then the kite was stamped in red ink before being fussy cut and popped up with foam adhesive.  The sentiment (from Honey Bee Stamps' Message in a Bottle set) was stamped in black ink and three silver star sequins were added as embellishments.  The finished main panel was popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension.  I added just a touch of sparkle to the kite using a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen. 2017 July18 DIAMOND closeup I hope you'll take a little time and visit the blogs of the design team members as well as our guest designer!  They'd love to hear from you! Honey Bee Stamps Feathered Thanks

Honey Bee Stamps Feathered Thanks
I'm back today to share some feather inspiration using Honey Bee Stamps images!  I love feather images and the Ten Things set has three pretty feather images to choose from! 2017 Honey Bee DT Badge I watercolored a pretty pearlescent blue onto a panel of watercolor cardstock to create a background for the images.  Once this was dry, I stamped three of the same feather image in a row using black ink and varying the orientation.  The simple sentiment is actually just a portion of one of the sentiments in the set, selectively colored and stamped beneath the main images.  The finished main panel was framed with a piece of black cardstock and then popped up on the cardbase using foam adhesive squares for dimension. 2017 July5 closeup I ended up really loving this particular design.  Not only is is super simple, but it could be used for so many different occasions, including sympathy cards! I hope you're getting as excited as I am for the upcoming new release scheduled for next week!  I'll be sharing sneak peeks the first part of the week and then there is a fun blog hop planned for Friday, July 14th!  Stay tuned!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

CASology FLY

CASology FLY
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word over on the CASology challenge blog!  We're FLYing this week with Rubber Dance Stamps as our sponsor! Week 255 - Fly I used one of the pretty birds from the A Little Birdie... set to create a simple thank you design.  I used white watercolor paper and splattered brown watercolor paint on it to create a simple neutral colored background.  Once dried, I stamped the bird image in black ink.  I kept things very clean and simple by not coloring the image at all!  The sentiment (from the Just A Note set) was stamped beside the bird in black and then three clear round drops were added as embellishments to add a little interest and dimension.  The assembled main panel was framed with black cardstock before being attached to the white card base using foam adhesive. I hope you'll take a little time this week to visit the design team member and guest designer blogs and leave a little blog love for them!  They've created yet another round of fantastic inspiration! A Muse Studio June Collection
Have you checked out the A Muse Studio June Collection yet in the online store?!  This new release is just adorable with a mermaid, narwhal, whale and other sea creatures just waiting to be inked up and used on those summer paper crafting projects! logo I had so much fun creating clean & simple designs with the new sets and thought I'd share a couple of them today!  For my first card, I used the two adorable fish from the Let's Be Mermaids set.  I cut a thin line for a wave using Mermaid cardstock and one of the Landscape Dies.  The fish were watercolored using a water brush and Ocean and Mermaid and Papaya pigment inks.  The fish we cut out using the coordinating dies for the stamp set and popped up with foam adhesive.  The sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and three Twinkle stickers were added as embellishments beneath the wave.  The finished main panel was popped up on the Sugar cardstock base. 2017 May Melissa8 closeup For my second card, I used the True Blue Friend set. 2017 May Melissa6 blog The whale was stamped in Ocean ink and cut out using the stamp set's coordinating dies.  I cut out a wave using Mermaid cardstock and one of the stitched Landscape Dies, trimming to fit the main panel.  I die cut the sentiment using the Hello word die and Polka Dot Papaya Cardstock.  A single clear Twinkle Sticker was added as the whale's eye before the whale was popped up using foam adhesive. 2017 May Melissa6 closeup The assembled main panel was popped up with foam adhesive on the Sugar cardstock base. I'll be back tomorrow with even more June Collection inspiration!

I hope you've had a fantastic Friday!

A Muse Studio Vintage Floral
The A Muse Studio May Collection new release is going strong and I wanted to share another card I made using the new Vintage Floral set! logo I stamped the trio of blooms in Apple ink, spritzing the inked stamp with a little water before stamping it on watercolor paper.  The pretty, clean fonted sentiment is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I splattered the mail panel with a little Apple ink using a watercolor brush and then layered the finished panel on a piece of Apple cardstock.  The assembled piece was then popped up on the Vanilla cardstock base with foam adhesive.  I added three Bubblegum sequins to finish the design. 2017 AprilMelissa8 closeup   I'll be back tomorrow with more inspiration using Time to Party, such a fun set!   2017 Signature Save Save SaveContinue Reading...

A Blog Named Hero May Challenge

A Blog Named Hero May Challenge
It's time for the May challenge over at A Blog Named Hero!  This month, Honey Bee Stamps is our sponsor and the theme is watercoloring!  How fun is that?!

2017 May Challenge LogoI used the Hero Arts Stamp & Cuts Dress Up Stamp And Die Set and stamped the girl & legs images in black ink before coloring with Copic Markers.  I die cut the skirt in watercolor paper and then watercolored it with pearlescent watercolors for shimmer.  The puppy was stamped with black ink also and colored with Copics.  I created the spot on its eye by using my Copic blender pen.  I drew a leash with a fine black marker.  The sentiment was stamped at a diagonal with black ink and little flower and clear sequins were added as embellishments.  The main panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle die to dress it up a bit and then popped up on the card base with foam adhesive.  I also added a little sparkle to the girl's hair band and necklace with a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Overlay brush marker.

I just love how you can pair Honey Bee & Hero Arts stamps together to created fun designs!  This girl and puppy just seem to go together!

A Muse Studio May Collection New Release Day!

A Muse Studio May Collection New Release Day!
Today's the day!  The A Muse Studio May Collection is available in the online store!  Hooray! logo Today, I thought I'd share a little project using the beautiful new Vintage Floral set.  Every time I see this set, I think of Mother's Day which is coming up in just two short weeks!  I die cut a pillow box out of Cotton Candy cardstock using the Small Pillow Box die.  I then stamped the bloom with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I made sure to extend the image over the edge to add a little interest to the side of the box. 2017 AprilMelissa10 closeup   I then stamped a pretty sentiment from the Aren't You Sweet set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  You could fill this box with little treats or even small jewelry as a Mother's Day gift! Do you have your Mother's Day cards and gifts planned &/or prepared?  The Vintage Floral set paired with the Aren't You Sweet set is a perfect combination for your projects! I'll be back tomorrow with even more May Collection inspiration!   2017 SignatureContinue Reading...
