CASology CAKE

CASology CAKE
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new CASology cue!  Let them eat cake!  Cake is such a lovely thing...as long as it's white.  Just a personal preference of mine! I envisioned a triangular piece of moist white cake and decided to mask a triangle and go for a geometric card design this week!  The big, bold sentiments are from Uniko Studio and worked quite well with the crisp lines of the triangle. After masking the triangle, I added a little gold shimmer using a gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine spray.  I love how interest can be added with a little simple sparkle or shine!  This is a very simple, one-layer design! I hope you'll take a little time to visit the design team member and guest designer blogs this week!  They've gone and done it again, providing wonderful inspiration for this week's challenge!

CASology EDUCATION

CASology EDUCATION
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word challenge over at CASology! With school back in session for most people, education is our focus this week!  I went back to early childhood in my mind, remembering learning my abc's and that classic alphabet song that children still sing today!  DD loves to paint at school and started painting the letters of her name last week! I couldn't resist using another on over Love Cynthia's adorable little girl stamp sets to create this design!  These images remind me so much of my daughter and I plan to give this card to one of her teachers when the opportunity arises during the school year! I stamped the little girl in black ink, colored it with Copic markers and fussy cut it.  The stitched main panel is a rectangle die from Honey Bee Stamps.  I lined up the three letters on my acrylic block and added to a different color ink to each one before stamping them.  The c smudged a bit and gave me the idea to smudge them all a little using a water brush!  I then added a little splattered ink using the same water brush.  What 4-year-old ever paints perfectly, anyway?!  After the ink was dry, I added a touch of sparkle with a clear overlay Spectrum Noir brush pen. The main panel was then attached to the card base using foam adhesive for dimension.  The little girl was also attached to the card base with foam adhesive, overlapping the main panel and lined up so it looks like she is busy painting the letter a. I hope you'll visit the design team member's on their blogs this week and leave them a little blog love!  They've created some wonderful inspiration again this week!

CASology BUD

CASology BUD
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word again over at CASology! Kitty Bee Designs is returning as our sponsor and many of the design team are using images from the online store! I used the adorable Bamboo Plant Panda digital image to create my clean & simple design.  I had a leftover frame from a past project that I'd used Distress Oxide inks on and used it to frame my main image and sentiment, gluing it directly onto the main panel.  The panda was colored with Copic markers and a little sparkle was added to the heart with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The simple sentiment is from an A Muse Studio set and is stamped in black.  I added the period with a fine tipped black marker.  The panda was popped up with foam adhesive as was the assembled main panel. I hope you'll take some time to visit the design team member blogs as well as our guest designer's blog!  They've created some wonderful inspiration and would love to hear from you!

PRICKLY at CASology

PRICKLY at CASology
Happy Tuesday!  It's time for a brand new cue word over on the CASology challenge blog and we're going with a rather prickly one this week! As always, we leave the interpretation of the word completely open to individual interpretation, so you may be curious to know what in the world my card has to do with it!  I think any woman would understand that prickly legs are just not something a person wants to have when wearing shorter attire.  Summer is the dedicated shaving season here in the U.S.A.  In the cooler months, one can get away with slacking a bit as we bundle up for the cold.  That said, you may now understand my card design. All stamps are from the Hero Arts April Kit (unfortunately, sold out).  I decided to make a simple black & white design with abundant white space.  I stamped the dress in black and die cut it with the coordinating die.  I added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker and then added several tiny, clear rhinestones to the polka dots.  Some might question whether using all those rhinestones is very clean & simple, but after looking at the finished design, I felt the neutral color and the fact that they are all the same and limited to a very small area of the design, it would qualify.  What do you think? I hope you'll hop around to the blogs of the design team and guest designer!  They'd love to hear from you!

CASology 5-Year Anniversary Blog Hop!

CASology 5-Year Anniversary Blog Hop!
Today is the day!  It's finally here!  It's CASology's 5-year anniversary celebration and I hope you'll hop along with us because there is a ton of inspiration and some rather fabulous prizes up for grabs for those who do!  Just remember, the deadline is next Monday, July 31, at NOON (CDT) for hopping and being eligible for the prizes!  You must leave comments at all stops to be eligible to win!  For more hop details, including a list of prizes and the full hop list, head on over to the CASology blog! You should have arrived here from the CASology blog!  I'm the second stop on the hop! I happen to love hot air balloons and had to dig around in my stash for the balloon stamp set I just knew I had, but since I tend to be a bit of an "acquire it and forget about it for a while" kind of gal, it took a bit more digging than it probably should have.  Now, had I had my creative stash neatly documented and categorized like those wonderfully organized individuals we all see on Pinterest, I may have spared myself some frustration.  Good thing I'm not a quitter!  I actually found it!  Once I had it in hand, I wanted to make a thank you themed card because I feel I owe a lot of people a thank you during this milestone celebration! 2017 July25 DIAMOND WM I've been loving the Distress Oxide Inks for blending the last little while, so pulled those out to create a pretty skyline on the main panel.  Once dry, I dressed it up a bit by die cutting it with a stitched rectangle die and spritzed it lightly with some Gold Color Shine spray to add a little shimmer.  The skyline silhouette and simple sentiment were stamped in black ink. Three small silver star sequins were added as embellishments.  The assembled main panel was then popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. 2017 July25 DIAMOND closeup I won't keep you any longer, so head on to the next stop on the hop, Altenew!

Have fun and good luck!

CASology DIAMOND

CASology DIAMOND
It's time for a new cue word over at CASology!  This week's gallery will be filled with diamonds.  Sounds great, no?! Week 258 - Diamond I thought about this one for a while before settling on a kite image that I found in my stash.  I happen to love kites.  They make me feel like a kid all over again every time I get the opportunity to fly one.  That is, until I run around for a while and notice I'm not quite as spry as I used to be! I started this design by watercoloring two overlapping, shimmery clouds with pearlescent watercolors on a die cut stitched panel (A Muse Studio Tag Bundle dies) of watercolor paper using a Clouds stencil by STAMPlorations.  The kite is from a retired StampinUp! set called Send Me Soaring.  The string was stamped in black ink and then the kite was stamped in red ink before being fussy cut and popped up with foam adhesive.  The sentiment (from Honey Bee Stamps' Message in a Bottle set) was stamped in black ink and three silver star sequins were added as embellishments.  The finished main panel was popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension.  I added just a touch of sparkle to the kite using a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen. 2017 July18 DIAMOND closeup I hope you'll take a little time and visit the blogs of the design team members as well as our guest designer!  They'd love to hear from you! CASology WISH

CASology WISH
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  It's all about wishes this week. Week 257 - Wish I chose to use a Uniko Studio image, our sponsor this week!  I love their sentiment sets and the Big & Bold - Wish set is one of my favorites!  I used blue and purple Distress Oxide inks to create the rich colored background, spritzing the dried panel with Heidi Swapp white Color Shine spray.  I stamped the bold sentiment and coordinating smaller sentiment in Versafine black ink.  Three little gold star sequins were added as embellishments and then the finished main panel was layered on top of a piece of black cardstock to frame the design.  The assembled piece was popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. I love that this design could be varied simply by changing the background colors!  Need a masculine card?  No problem!  Just add more masculine colors! I hope you'll play along with us this week!  The word WISH can be interpreted so many ways!  I almost went with a fairy tale theme!  Go say hello to the design team members when you get a chance!  They'd love to hear from you!

CASology PIZZA

CASology PIZZA
It's Independence Day here in the U.S.A!  I'm spending time with extended family for the holiday, but am writing this post ahead of time so it will post while I'm enjoying my time away! Week 256 - Pizza Over at CASology, we're introducing a brand new cue word and having a pizza party in the gallery!  With SugarPea Designs as our sponsor this week, I chose to use one of their adorable fox images (Fall Fox set), pairing it with pizza themed things from Lawn Fawn's Pizza My Heart set. 2017 July4 PIZZA closeup The fox was colored with Copic markers.  I added polka dots to the jacket with my Copic blender pen.  The lower two pizza boxes were masked and then I stamped, fussy cut and popped up the top box with foam adhesive for dimension.  I stamped a little red heart on the main panel, adding sparkle with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Glitter pen.  The main panel was die cut with a stitched die from the Mama Elephant Femme Frames die set. I hope you'll go check out the inspiration on the design team members' blogs as well as our guest designer's blog!  They'd love to hear from you! DT Badge

CASology FLY

CASology FLY
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word over on the CASology challenge blog!  We're FLYing this week with Rubber Dance Stamps as our sponsor! Week 255 - Fly I used one of the pretty birds from the A Little Birdie... set to create a simple thank you design.  I used white watercolor paper and splattered brown watercolor paint on it to create a simple neutral colored background.  Once dried, I stamped the bird image in black ink.  I kept things very clean and simple by not coloring the image at all!  The sentiment (from the Just A Note set) was stamped beside the bird in black and then three clear round drops were added as embellishments to add a little interest and dimension.  The assembled main panel was framed with black cardstock before being attached to the white card base using foam adhesive. I hope you'll take a little time this week to visit the design team member and guest designer blogs and leave a little blog love for them!  They've created yet another round of fantastic inspiration! CASology HOUSE
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  This week, we're exploring a common word with lots of possibilities! Week 254 - House Rubber Dance Stamps is sponsoring us this week and I used an image from their Textured Houses stamp set to create my clean & simple design! 2016 Rubber Dance logo The main panel was created using a stitched rectangle die from the A Muse Studio Tag Bundle die set.  I watercolored a simple background in soft blue and green using pearlescent watercolors.  Once dry, the houses were stamped in black ink.  I stamped the heart image (from the Beautiful Words set) in red before fussy cutting it and popping it up with a foam dot.  I added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The finished main panel was attached to the card base using foam dots. CASology INSECTS

CASology INSECTS
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology!  This week it's all about insects and what they make us think of! Week 252 - Insect I chose to use the ever adorable Cute as a Bug sets (Well Preserved Jars set and Party Elements set) by Clear & Simple Stamps to create this get well card.  I created the spider web using one of the thin line images and then added a little black bug, coating it with Crystal Effects for some shine.  The spider was stamped dangling from the top of the card.  I kept the color scheme black and white to keep it super clean and simple!  I added a black piece of cardstock behind the main panel to bring out the black a bit more.  I just love the font of the sentiment!  So classy! I hope you'll play along with us this week as we explore what this cue word makes everyone think of!  We're currently waiting for a praying mantis egg to hatch in our house as a summer project for the kids.  Truthfully, it kind of creeps me out, but I love seeing the excitement in at least two of the boys as they anticipate the arrival of these crazy creatures!  Amazing creatures, but so not my thing!  Eeek! The design team members and this week's guest designer would love to hear from you, so go give them a little virtual wave if you have time this week! DT Badge

CASology Medicine

CASology Medicine
It's time for a brand new cue word over at CASology! Week 251 - Medicine The first thing that came to mind was the Mary Poppin's song, "A Spoonful of Sugar".  I didn't go with the sugar, but did use a spoon with medicine flowing from it!  I masked the flow of medicine, using Broken China Distress Oxide ink.  The spoon (Paper Smooches Healthy Vibes set) was stamped in black and then I paper pieced the medicine to match the masking.  The spoon was fussy cut and popped up with foam adhesive.  The sentiment was stamped in Black Versafine Ink to finish the design.  Super simple! Take a look at what the rest of the design team and this week's guest designer created for inspiration this week! DT Badge
