CASology GLIMMER

CASology GLIMMER
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new CASology cue word!  This week, we're adding a little glimmer to our CAS designs!  So many ways to do this and I'm pretty sure the gallery will be beautiful! STAMPlorations, this week's sponsor, has an adorable winter themed set and I couldn't resist creating a design with a sparkly little igloo on it!  A die cut main panel dressed things up a bit and a very simple color scheme kept the overall design clean. I hope you'll take a little time to visit the guest designer and design team blogs this week!  We can all use a little happy hello now and then!

CASology ENCOURAGEment

CASology ENCOURAGEment
Happy New Year! It's time for the first CASology challenge of 2018!  Everyone tends to make new year's resolutions, so we wanted to fill the gallery with encouragement this week!  We're also having a design team call, so if you love the thought of being a part of the CASology team as we head into 2018, be sure and go check out the detailsThe deadline for submitting applications is Friday, January 12! One of my personal resolutions is to send out more handmade cards this year.  I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't like a personal note in their mailbox.  People come to mind throughout the week and I need to be better at acting on those thoughts, grabbing a card, writing some encouraging words inside and sending them off in the mail!  Who knows what hidden struggles someone might be in the middle of and it never hurts to send a happy hello! For my design this week, I chose a very simple monochromatic design.  I went with a black and white color scheme and simply popped up the main image (Hero Arts) to add some subtle dimension.  Aligning everything diagonally also helps!   Please be sure and take some time to encourage the design team members on their personal blogs!  They contribute their time and talent each week to inspire our participants!

CASology KINDNESS

CASology KINDNESS
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word over at CASology and this one happens to be the last one for 2017!  A kindness theme seemed to go along with the transition from one year to another, so we're filling the gallery with it and keeping the challenge open for TWO weeks to get us through the holiday season! I went with a thank you card design because when I think of kindness it involves generosity, not just with material things, but with the giving of smiles, a kind word or simply stepping in where needed.  We're all human and we can all use a little kindness in our lives as well as give a little of it to others! I stamped a Hampton Arts image (a two-step stamp set), using Stampin' Up's Crushed Curry yellow ink as the focal color.  The sentiment from STAMPlorations was then stamped in black ink and the design was complete!  How's that for a quick and easy one-layer thank you?!  My favorite kind! I hope you'll join us in sharing a little kindness as we close out the year!  Let's see if we can take a little time and show each other a little kindness by not just visiting each other's blogs and other social media feeds, but actually stopping to leave a comment of encouragement for that creative journey we're all on! Don't forget to link up your own kindness creation on the CASology blog by Monday, January 1, at NOON (CST) for your chance to win the prize from STAMPlorations, our sponsor!

CASology GRAY

CASology GRAY
It's time for a brand new cue word over at CASology and we're giving GRAY a chance to be in the spotlight! I used gray as my card base color, but also used a message that might feel a little gray, if you know what I mean?!  No one likes to miss someone! This design is so simple.  I simply stamped a pine bough image (Uniko Studio) on a white cardstock panel and then added a simple, small sentiment in a clean font to the lower right corner.  I mounted this panel on black cardstock and then popped up the assembled piece on the gray cardbase using foam adhesive to add a little dimension to the overall design. I hope you'll play along with us this week!  Also, be sure and take a little time to leave the design team and this week's guest designer a little blog love!  They've created some fantastic inspiration again this week and they'd love to hear from you!

CASology SHARP

CASology SHARP
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word over at CASology!  The gallery this week should end up looking rather sharp... This word has more than one definition, thanks to the English language.  My thoughts took me to pencils and school.  DS1 has loved to sharpen pencils since he was in kindergarten!  At our house, we don't have to worry about dull pencils setting around.  Now that he's older, he does like the mechanical ones, but still can't resist sharpening those "old fashioned" yellow pencils if given the opportunity!  I couldn't resist putting a yellow pencil on my card design for this week. I stamped both the pencil and mouse images (Neat & Tangled) with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored them with Copic markers.  I stamped the "teacher" onto the pencil.  The longer sentiment was stamped in Versafine black ink directly on a piece of grid decorative paper (A Muse Studio) that I'd die cut into a stitched rectangle (A Muse Studio). The pencil and mouse were then popped upon the main panel with foam adhesive. Once assembled, the main panel was popped up on the white cardstock base using more foam adhesive.  With the school year now in full swing, this card will most likely find a recipient soon! I hope you'll take some time to visit the design team members' blogs this week if you have the time!  They've been working so hard each week to create inspiration for the challenges!

It's Tuesday again already!  Time continues to fly!  CASology has a cue word filled with good FORTUNE this week.  What a fun word with plenty of room for interpretation!  I went with a little pirate from Jaded Blossom Stamp's Pirate Booty stamp set!  Such a fun set filled with cute pirate sentiments! CASology CAKE

CASology CAKE
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new CASology cue!  Let them eat cake!  Cake is such a lovely thing...as long as it's white.  Just a personal preference of mine! I envisioned a triangular piece of moist white cake and decided to mask a triangle and go for a geometric card design this week!  The big, bold sentiments are from Uniko Studio and worked quite well with the crisp lines of the triangle. After masking the triangle, I added a little gold shimmer using a gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine spray.  I love how interest can be added with a little simple sparkle or shine!  This is a very simple, one-layer design! I hope you'll take a little time to visit the design team member and guest designer blogs this week!  They've gone and done it again, providing wonderful inspiration for this week's challenge!

CASology EDUCATION

CASology EDUCATION
It's Tuesday and time for a new cue word challenge over at CASology! With school back in session for most people, education is our focus this week!  I went back to early childhood in my mind, remembering learning my abc's and that classic alphabet song that children still sing today!  DD loves to paint at school and started painting the letters of her name last week! I couldn't resist using another on over Love Cynthia's adorable little girl stamp sets to create this design!  These images remind me so much of my daughter and I plan to give this card to one of her teachers when the opportunity arises during the school year! I stamped the little girl in black ink, colored it with Copic markers and fussy cut it.  The stitched main panel is a rectangle die from Honey Bee Stamps.  I lined up the three letters on my acrylic block and added to a different color ink to each one before stamping them.  The c smudged a bit and gave me the idea to smudge them all a little using a water brush!  I then added a little splattered ink using the same water brush.  What 4-year-old ever paints perfectly, anyway?!  After the ink was dry, I added a touch of sparkle with a clear overlay Spectrum Noir brush pen. The main panel was then attached to the card base using foam adhesive for dimension.  The little girl was also attached to the card base with foam adhesive, overlapping the main panel and lined up so it looks like she is busy painting the letter a. I hope you'll visit the design team member's on their blogs this week and leave them a little blog love!  They've created some wonderful inspiration again this week!

CASology BUD

CASology BUD
It's Tuesday and time for a brand new cue word again over at CASology! Kitty Bee Designs is returning as our sponsor and many of the design team are using images from the online store! I used the adorable Bamboo Plant Panda digital image to create my clean & simple design.  I had a leftover frame from a past project that I'd used Distress Oxide inks on and used it to frame my main image and sentiment, gluing it directly onto the main panel.  The panda was colored with Copic markers and a little sparkle was added to the heart with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The simple sentiment is from an A Muse Studio set and is stamped in black.  I added the period with a fine tipped black marker.  The panda was popped up with foam adhesive as was the assembled main panel. I hope you'll take some time to visit the design team member blogs as well as our guest designer's blog!  They've created some wonderful inspiration and would love to hear from you!

PRICKLY at CASology

PRICKLY at CASology
Happy Tuesday!  It's time for a brand new cue word over on the CASology challenge blog and we're going with a rather prickly one this week! As always, we leave the interpretation of the word completely open to individual interpretation, so you may be curious to know what in the world my card has to do with it!  I think any woman would understand that prickly legs are just not something a person wants to have when wearing shorter attire.  Summer is the dedicated shaving season here in the U.S.A.  In the cooler months, one can get away with slacking a bit as we bundle up for the cold.  That said, you may now understand my card design. All stamps are from the Hero Arts April Kit (unfortunately, sold out).  I decided to make a simple black & white design with abundant white space.  I stamped the dress in black and die cut it with the coordinating die.  I added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker and then added several tiny, clear rhinestones to the polka dots.  Some might question whether using all those rhinestones is very clean & simple, but after looking at the finished design, I felt the neutral color and the fact that they are all the same and limited to a very small area of the design, it would qualify.  What do you think? I hope you'll hop around to the blogs of the design team and guest designer!  They'd love to hear from you!

CASology 5-Year Anniversary Blog Hop!

CASology 5-Year Anniversary Blog Hop!
Today is the day!  It's finally here!  It's CASology's 5-year anniversary celebration and I hope you'll hop along with us because there is a ton of inspiration and some rather fabulous prizes up for grabs for those who do!  Just remember, the deadline is next Monday, July 31, at NOON (CDT) for hopping and being eligible for the prizes!  You must leave comments at all stops to be eligible to win!  For more hop details, including a list of prizes and the full hop list, head on over to the CASology blog! You should have arrived here from the CASology blog!  I'm the second stop on the hop! I happen to love hot air balloons and had to dig around in my stash for the balloon stamp set I just knew I had, but since I tend to be a bit of an "acquire it and forget about it for a while" kind of gal, it took a bit more digging than it probably should have.  Now, had I had my creative stash neatly documented and categorized like those wonderfully organized individuals we all see on Pinterest, I may have spared myself some frustration.  Good thing I'm not a quitter!  I actually found it!  Once I had it in hand, I wanted to make a thank you themed card because I feel I owe a lot of people a thank you during this milestone celebration! 2017 July25 DIAMOND WM I've been loving the Distress Oxide Inks for blending the last little while, so pulled those out to create a pretty skyline on the main panel.  Once dry, I dressed it up a bit by die cutting it with a stitched rectangle die and spritzed it lightly with some Gold Color Shine spray to add a little shimmer.  The skyline silhouette and simple sentiment were stamped in black ink. Three small silver star sequins were added as embellishments.  The assembled main panel was then popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension. 2017 July25 DIAMOND closeup I won't keep you any longer, so head on to the next stop on the hop, Altenew!

Have fun and good luck!

CASology DIAMOND

CASology DIAMOND
It's time for a new cue word over at CASology!  This week's gallery will be filled with diamonds.  Sounds great, no?! Week 258 - Diamond I thought about this one for a while before settling on a kite image that I found in my stash.  I happen to love kites.  They make me feel like a kid all over again every time I get the opportunity to fly one.  That is, until I run around for a while and notice I'm not quite as spry as I used to be! I started this design by watercoloring two overlapping, shimmery clouds with pearlescent watercolors on a die cut stitched panel (A Muse Studio Tag Bundle dies) of watercolor paper using a Clouds stencil by STAMPlorations.  The kite is from a retired StampinUp! set called Send Me Soaring.  The string was stamped in black ink and then the kite was stamped in red ink before being fussy cut and popped up with foam adhesive.  The sentiment (from Honey Bee Stamps' Message in a Bottle set) was stamped in black ink and three silver star sequins were added as embellishments.  The finished main panel was popped up on the card base using foam adhesive for dimension.  I added just a touch of sparkle to the kite using a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen. 2017 July18 DIAMOND closeup I hope you'll take a little time and visit the blogs of the design team members as well as our guest designer!  They'd love to hear from you!
