CASology #89: Laughter is the Best Medicine

Laughter really is the best medicine and I just had to make a get well card for this week’s JOKE challenge over at CASology…

When you’re feeling down and under, a little laughter never hurts.  I remember when my own mother was in the ICU when I was a teenager and moments of laughter were like little mini vacations from the seriousness at hand!

I stamped the main image thinking I was going to color it all in, but changed my mind as I really wanted to preserve as much white space as possible!  Granted the black & white image still takes up space, but it just feels less intrusive without color.  I had to color that hospital gown, however!  Anyone else notice how unattractive those things tend to be?!  I’d love to say that they’re comfortable and that makes up for the ugly, but I can’t do that.  Who can feel comfortable in something that always has you tugging at the gaping hole that is revealing your backside?!  I added black gemstone earrings to the nurse’s ears for dimension and added interest.  The inside reads, “Get well soon.”

I hope you’ll join us this week as we joke around a bit over at CASology!  Remember these helpful hints when creating a CAS card:

1.  One main image
2.  Lots of open space (uncluttered)
3.  Limited layers & embellishments
4.  Quick & easy to recreate

Don’t forget to bop over to the design team member and guest designer blogs to get more details on their humor!

It’s a blustery, grey day here today!  Spring is trying so hard to arrive, but winter is being stubborn.  I’m using the extra cool days to get some indoor things done because once the warmer weather arrives to stay, I’m going to be living outside!  Enough of this cabin fever!
Have a terrific Tuesday!

I was in one of those yesterday for my annual mammogram – it was missing a tie, so I was really having to grab everything to keep it all together! lol! Love this clean card – that's a great tip for keeping things CAS!

Funny card Melissa, they are the most unattractive gowns, drafty too 😀 Love the play on words. Hope it warms up for you soon 😀 x

Those gowns!! That card!!! Very funny. Great image and reminds me of one of my old head nurses. She was a bit of a crone, but had a great sense of humor. Bev

Love the story behind this cute card! I'm glad you stopped right there not coloring entire image. Stay warm! 🙂 May

I knew you were going to have a great card, Melissa…and of course, you never disappoint! LOVE your nurse with her lovely earrings, and how you added a pop of color with the hospital gown…not to mention the fabulous sentiment ~ PRICELESS!!! Thanks for making me smile!

I totally snorted when I saw this card, Melissa. It rocks!! And those gowns might not be so bad if they came in fun colours like that!

Love how you kept it CAS by coloring only some of it!

Yep, this is a classic! I love the partially colored image (I agree, it is less intrusive in a way to keep the main image B&W), and I had to laugh at the gown and sentiment! A perfect get well card! And where is that silly opening supposed to go, anyway? There is always confusion about that!
