After a week of vacation, I’m slowly getting back into the ole craft room and what better way to start things out than with today’s new cue word over at
CASology!
I was originally going to go with some lovely winged critter, but in the end, went with the less obvious. A week of take out while away from home probably shifted the gears of my mind to food. Chicken, anyone?! It seems like several restaurants have jumped on the “wings” bandwagon over the last few years…Pizza Ranch, Pizza Hut, Buffalo Wild Wings. Anyone a big fan? I’m more of a veggie & beans loving gal even though I do eat meat on occasion.
I used a portion of a Thanksgiving turkey image (retired) from Cornish Heritage Farms, coloring it with Copic markers and popping it up with a foam dot. The sentiment is from Your Next Stamp.
Be sure and leave the design team some blog love! They’d love to hear from you!

We celebrated DD’s birthday a few days early with family. As you can see, she doesn’t like to be in the spotlight. We honestly thought she was going to cry while we were all singing Happy Birthday to her! Guess she must take after her mother who happens to strongly dislike being the center of attention…especially in large groups of people!
Today promises to be a much quieter day for her. Maybe a donut with sprinkles will be more her style!
Have a terrific Tuesday!

ha! I love your take on the cue card! I had that thought as well, but not the right stamps. Well done. Happy Birthday, Bryna!
Hehe Love the way you thinking Melissa… yum!
Very fun card–Love your interpretation of wings–making me hungry all ready. Happy Birthday to your adorable daughter. You have captured such a precious scene here, and I'm sure she will enjoy looking at this as she gets older.
I cried with every birthday song, Melissa! What a darling little girl you have there …Joyce is so right – she will love this at age 21! Wings … they are my favorite part of the chicken!! Darling card!

Ha! Love your take on the cue card!
And aww…what a sweet pic!
You made me giggle when I saw your card in relation to the cue word AND a BIG aww for your DD, she is adorable. Hugs Bev x
Wings. Oh how funny! Love your take on the cue card; too, too funny!! And yes, I do like wings, but hate the mess they make, so I rarely eat them. A DD is such a sweetie. And getting so big! Hope she liked the sprinkled doughnut. Bev
Love this!! Super cute!
Great card, Melissa! Yes, vacation and eating out will definitely put (chicken) wings on one's mind. Love this so much! I also love the picture and story of your daughter's birthday. I will always remember when she was born because we were on vacation in California when I heard your good news! Two years!!! Wow, time flies and she is such a beautiful little girl. I also chuckled when you said she might cry when you sang to her…my daughter was the same way! We learned by about her 3rd birthday to sing very quietly (and definitely no “cha cha cha's”)!
Brilliant! This made me laugh out loud! Great take on the inspiration xx
Brilliant card! Absolutely brilliant! As for your DD – Her little face says it all! Hope that she managed to enjoy her special day all the same! Reminds me of my first son. He did cry when we sang happy birthday for his first birthday – poor bub found it so overwhelming. Lovely cake, by the way!
This cracked me up as soon as I saw it, Melissa! It's brilliant! You always have such fabulously quirky take on the cue words. 🙂
Absolutely brilliant card , so funny. In our family there is a joke from real life re; “have your people call my people and we'll do lunch” but I won't bore you with it!. I may well use your idea though, if that's ok with you?
