Celebrating with Blog Candy!
So I thought I’d share a card that represents my clean & simple cardmaking style…
I often think of my design style as being classic CAS. I keep things as simple as possible and try to deliver the message in a creative way. This card idea came to me when I was casually looking through some Prickley Pear sets I had on hand and noticed a stamp that was a trio of ducks. The sentiment caught my eye and I decided to stamp the duck image, but cut the ducks apart and add one more duck to get the message across. The green stripe is masked.
Now let’s see what I have for blog candy! How about some Mama Elephant goodness?!
I hope you’ll take some time to visit the CASology blog over the next few days! We’ve got a contest starting today as well as lots of blog candy and prizes throughout the week ahead, so you’ll want to get in on the celebration!

Cute card love the ducks

How cute Melissa. Can my hubby be classed as CAS, as he always says that the best solution to a problem is the clean and simplest? He's a design engineer!!
Julie, your replay makes me laugh! I usually tell my hubby (a mechanical engineer) that his solutions are very clean and simple, but the journey he takes to get to those solutions is NOT. LOL! 🙂
Thanks, Malika! 🙂
Thank you, Rebecca! 🙂
Practice makes perfect! 🙂 I used to struggle with CAS cards too (still do sometimes when a design just isn't working…), but the more you make them, the more of an addiction it becomes and then you just can't go back to the layers again! I adore some of the beautiful, layered, embellished cards that people make, but I don't think I could make one myself if I tried anymore! 🙂 My mindset is completely CASified! LOL!
I'm so happy you found CASology and I hope you'll find some inspiration for your clean & simple journey!
Thanks, Jenni! 🙂 You're so right! It definitely gives you a sense of achievement when you get a CAS design right…and oh-so-frustrating sometimes when you don't! LOL!
Thank you, Anita! 🙂 I'm so glad you're playing along in the 100th challenge celebration fun! Good luck!!!
Love that row of little ducks, so appropriate with all the baby birds leaving the nest at the moment 🙂
Sally
Your card just made me laugh out loud. So adorable and clever. Brilliant use of white space. Perfect design and execution.

I adore your duckies, Melissa! Brilliant layout for that sweet sentiment!

Melissa, what a great kick-off to a week's worth of celebrating CASology! I love those sweet little ducks…totally adorable and perfectly CAS! (No need to enter me in your drawing, just wanted to stop by to say how cute your card is today!)
About 100 weeks ago, I'd learned a new challenge was coming to town! CASology hit the blogosphere and I was in love right away with the whole concept. Still am! Thank you so much for starting up this wonderful challenge, Melissa. It's also been so much fun to see the ever-growing little boys and your newest DD whenever you post photos. Congratulations on week 100. Here's to 1,000,000 (at least), more!!!! All the best, Bev
Congratulations on 100 Challenges! Your card is super cute!

Congrats on 100 challenges Melissa! Always love the Casology challenge! And such a cute card – those ducks are adorable!
Your card is so cute. Reminds me of a story, “Little Quack” I used to read to my kids.
Congrats on your 100 challenges! That's awesome.
What a fabulous start to our big 100 Challenges. So nice to learn more about you, and this is a seriously cute card.
Aw thanks, Jen! You're so kind! 🙂
Yes, if chocolate is available, I'm pretty easily bribed. 🙂 Good luck!!!
I'm so glad you found CASology, Monika! Believe it or not, I sometimes feel like you when it's time to make a card to represent the cue words! 🙂 I have no good excuses to get out of making something though! LOL! Thanks for supporting CASology! It's people like you that make CASology what it is! Hugs!
Oh, chocolate was definitely on my to do list today! 🙂 A little bit every day keeps the doctor away…oh wait…that's supposedly apples that do that. Oops.
Thanks for your kind words, Judy! You're always such an encouragement!!! Hugs! 🙂
You've been one of our best supporters from Day One, Bev! I honestly think there should be some kind of award for that! 🙂 Thanks for your support and for your regular, upbeat comments! You're such an encouragment!!! Hugs!
Thank you, Tonya! 🙂
Hi Melissa,
As you know, I LOVE visiting your blog…your cards are always amazing, and I feel inspired each and every time I stop in here! Also, I really enjoyed reading your bio! Now I know where you got that beautiful smile of yours!
I love your sweet card…reminds me of how you children might look when they're walking along, with your littlest one trailing (I know she's not walking yet), but what I thought of at first glance! Love how you masked off the green stripe along the bottom, too! Thanks so much for a chance to win in your giveaway…I adore Mama Elephant!
Adorable little ducks and such a sweet sentiment – great CAS card!
Hi Melissa! We have a couple things in common, I don't like to go first on anything either and my style didn't start out CAS either, but I sure love it! Love this challenge, it is one that I definitely look forward to every week, though I'm not always able to play. Thanks so much for all you do and your wonderful inspiration!
Those ducks are the cutest and the sentiment is perfect for the way you designed the card.
Your card is just “ducky.” Sorry, couldn't help myself. Love the CASology challenge; I definitely take part in this challenge more than any other. (Just checked my blog ~ I have 105 posts for CASology.) I have missed a few, but have played on some more than once.
Thanks, Rachelle! Hugs right back at ya! 🙂
Kimberly, I wish I lived closer to you too! I need to borrow some of that enthusiasm of yours! I'm guessing it's very contagious because, even in blogland, I'm inspired by you! 🙂 I'd totally take your family portraits if I had the chance! Love a photo opportunity!!!
I love hearing someone say they love CASology! Just so you know…your cards are definitely an inspiration, Claire! 🙂
I had to go look that book up and, what do you know?! I've read that book to my kids too! 🙂 Maybe it was subliminally inspiring this card???
Thanks, Joyce! I can't wait to see what you and the team come up with this week!!! 🙂
Barb, why am I not surprised to hear from you?! 🙂 You don't realize how much of an encouragement you are! I love getting comments from you and I feel so badly that I don't return the blog love more often! 🙁 I'm so happy you enjoy this blog! If I can inspire just one person, I'm happy. 🙂
Thank you, Deborah! 🙂
Good to have the chance to get to know you, ladies! And thanks for CASology to “keep” us creative! =)
Clever use of the image. It is nice to see things fussy cut nowadays. Usually it seems everyone has dies for everything!
This is such a cute CAS card… Love those duckies!!!
The ducks are so cute. Congrats on the 100th cue. I really enjoy getting to see the cards created from the prompts.
This is ridiculously adorable & clever! I so love this challenge & check it out every week – seeing all the different interpretations of a single word is seriously inspiring.
(And it struck me reading your 'stuff' that no wonder you prefer things to be organized – with 4 kids there's not really another way to get it all to happen!)
Love your simple design and and adorable visual ! Congratulations!
Your card is adorable, Melissa! I really appreciate your tips on your thought process for creating simple but interesting designs, and I agree that injecting a little humour whenever possible is an awesome way to brighten someone's day. The CASology blog is always one of my fave challenge sites with great examples from the design team and lots of people participating.
You must be so proud of your challenge and how popular its become. My style has really become more 'CAS' over the past few months so I'm always excited to see what the cue word is each week. Congratulations!
Adorable card! Really love CASology and have played along whenever I have time (which is rare), but you are definitely my favourite CAS inspiration site!
Hi Melissa! Con gratulations on the upcoming 100th challenge! I loved reading about you over on the CASology challenge blog and I really appreciate all that yoU and the DT have put into these challenges. I am fascinated with the CAS card style and love this little ducklings gem with this perfect phrase! Still playing around and exploring styles over here…Thanks for creating this challenge!
Congrats with the upcoming celebration for CASology :o)
Hi Melissa!! So happy for you… I'm never shy about saying that CASology is my favorite challenge =] I still can't believe you trusted a relative newcomer to the challenge world as a guest designer!! My WET card was a blast to make!
I've made a guess for the 100th Cue word!! Now I better get to work on the Anniversary card =/ Congrats!
Michele Ferguson
It's so nice to discover a little more about you, Melissa … it's a Good Thing to find out what makes the creator of my favorite challenge tick! I so look forward to getting my head round your cue cards and to seeing what the DT and all the players come up with. My card making journey has been a comparitively short one … and CASology has accompanied me as I've developed and learned. Thank you so much for all the inspiration and hard work … it's soooo appreciated! Sweet, sweet card … could you said to be getting all your ducks in a row for the 100th challenge?? Congratulations on such a wonderful achievement! Anita 🙂
Wow! 100th Challenge!! Like Anita, I have only been a part of it for a really short period of time, but it feels like I have been playing for ages, having met some really awesome, inspiring and encouraging people along the way. So lovely finding out more about you! Would NEVER have guessed you have a 10-monther, not to mention three other little people! You are clearly super organised!! What fun! My favourite challenge just got more exciting! Didn't think it possible! (wink!)
Love this!
Absolutely adorable!
so cute!
CASology is one of the blogs that I follow … great idea for the 100!
Oh, Smudge! It looks like I'm too late. Darn!
I discovered CASology at the very beginning of my blogging career…and I must tell you that you and the rest of the DT influenced my card making style…I am essentially a CAS girl just because you guys inspire me every week with those wonderful cues.
I really, really love your sweet little card. Congrats on the upcoming century. You absolutely rock and do keep rocking. 🙂
I come here from Kimberly Blog and I love CASology since I know the challenge for the first time..I want to join each week but sometimes the word including something that I dont have like BEE I dont have a BEE stamp also I think I better not join cause I dont have also sentiment with BEE HAPPY oder so LOL…also I love CASology cause I learn much from the DT Member and learn how to make a clean and simple card..its amazing I change my style too…also maybe I should write like this like Kimberly wrote…YOU ARE IT…love your card Melissa…big hugs…Monika
Thanks, Lori! I love the feeling of knowing I've found my style! I'm happy that you visit each week for inspiration even if you're not able to necessarily play along! That's what we're there for! 🙂
Thank you, Bobby! 🙂
LOL! Very clever play on words, Jean! 🙂 You're definitely a face I recognize from over at CASology!!! Thank you so much for your support! Hugs!
You're very welcome! Thank YOU for visiting and becoming a new follower…I noticed! 🙂 Hugs!
I love fussy cutting! 🙂 I'm always torn about getting dies for stamps. I'll usually only buy them only if there is intricate detail that would be hard to fussy cut!
Thank you! 🙂
Thanks! I'm so happy CASology is an inspiration! 🙂
Yep, if organization wasn't there, I think I'd go absolutely nuts…more so than I already do sometimes! LOL! Thanks for visiting and being a faithful follower of CASology! 🙂
Thank you, Marybeth! 🙂
Thanks, Laurie! I love sharing…even though there are times that I really don't know HOW I got the design I did! LOL! 🙂
I do love seeing how CASology has taken off! Never did I dream it would happen like it did, but here we are! 🙂 It makes my heart happy knowing people are finding inspiration each week!
Thanks! It's a pretty simple challenge, but sometimes I wonder if that's exactly what people love about it?! 🙂
Keep playing! That's part of the fun journey! You'll find your style in time! 🙂 Hugs!!! Hope we see you again over at CASology!
Thank you! 🙂
Newcomer or not, you earned your spot fair and square! 🙂 I have no problem having a newcomer join us!!! Seniority isn't part of our selection process! LOL! Thank you so much, Michele, for being such a faithful follower! We do notice! 🙂 Hugs!
I missed the time deadline here. But I'm coming from Kimberly's blog. I discovered CASology on the internet a while back. I love the CAS style. Now I'm going back to Kimberly's blog to play. Love your sweet ducks, BTW 🙂
I am indeed trying to get all my ducks in a row for the 100th challenge! Hope they're all there! LOL! Thanks for playing along with us regularly!!! 🙂
Thanks, Renee! 🙂
Thank you, Kara! 🙂
So happy to have you as a follower! 🙂 Hope to see you for the 100th challenge!!!
There are 9 more chances for blog candy, so don't give up!!! 🙂
Somdeepa, thank you for your kind words! I'm so happy to have you as a fellow CAS designer and regular over at CASology! 🙂 Hugs!
Monika, you are so supportive! 🙂 Hope we keep seeing you over at CASology! Love watching our participants create CAS designs each week!!!
Thank you, Sheila! 🙂 Good luck playing along throughout the week!!!
Swinging by again from Kimberley's blog. I've been blogging for about 18 months and I think CASology was one of the first challenge blogs I discovered once I'd found my feet. So glad as CAS has fast become my favourite style, some of my older card designs were shocking! CASology has really opened my eyes to realise that crisp images, clean lines and lots of white space is just perfect 🙂 x
Swinging by from Kimberly's blog! I am not exactly sure how I found CASology. I am thinking it might have been through Maureen when she was on the DT. Not sure though. I LOVE CAS cards. 🙂
Swinging over from Kimberly's blog…I don't remember exactly how, or when I found CASology, but surely it was a stunning card that drew me in!
Hi there Melissa! Kimberly sent me to tell you how I found CASology and why I like it. Here I am! I found CASology awhile back on someone's blog and loved their card. I like it here because I can do fun things like this and Iike the clean & simple style. I do almost every style and clean/simple is relaxing therapy for me.
Huggies!!!!
I found CASology just surfing through the blogs, and I am a regular now….I love CAS cards, and I got to admit that my cards have changed a lot in last 3 months. ..I liked a peek at you Melissa, you are one busy mom….I thought I am busy but finding about you ladies tells me that I am not as busy as you are. …I am very sure that CASoloy will continue to inspire many more!!
I found CASology through several of the DT members blogs. LOVE the concept of CASology as its so very different than any other challenges out there. You and the DT are so inspiring and I love playing along with all of you each week!
Maybe I am too late for winning Kimberly's blog candy, but that would no way stop me from letting you know how much I love CASology. I came across this CAS challenge through one of my blogger friends whom I had seen play along and initially I would just sneak in to learn more about CAS. I admit I have learnt so much(still learning) from the 'design defined' feature you provide with every card(unlike other card challenges). And the cue words tickle my creative bone like nothing else. Thanks and I hope you achieve many more milestones. All the best, Melissa! 🙂
Hello again, came from Kimberly's blog! =) I found CASology through one of the past winners' blog and I just loved the concept/style.
I saw the beautifully designed cue card in Blogland and was instantly attracted – I love CAS design and thought the cue word was a brilliant idea. It was great to read a bit more about you on the CASology site Melissa and my goodness, is your little one 10 months old already?! Hope you are enjoying life with your expanded family. Hugs, Vicky x
I think I might be a newbie to CASology – having just discovered it through Kimberleys blog, I will definitely be joining the fun, because I love the CAS concept!
Copngrats on a job well done, Melissa. And good luck with your craft room (you lucky girl).
