Today arrived breathing frigid air, so I’m happy to be thinking about warmer things as I calmly smile out the window at Old Man Winter’s attempt to foul up my mood.  Thank goodness for a rather warm CASology cue word today!

To be honest, it took me a little while to think this one through.  Where was I going to go with this one?!  My very first thought?  A tiger jumping through a hoop of fire!  I quickly erased that image from my mind, however, as I do not own such a stamp nor do I imagine I will ever spend my precious craft allowance on one!  So…moving on…I thought about s’mores, camping and the like, but the thought of digging through my stash of neglected stamps to find that specific theme didn’t settle well with me.  Then, what do you know?!  It hit me!  Chemistry class!  Bunsen burners!  Mysterious mixtures!  I had just the set in my stash from Paper Trey Ink too!

Stamps:  Paper Trey Ink, AMuse (flame image)

Those Bunsen burners were hot, let me tell you!  The mixtures we created were gorgeous in color sometimes, but they also put me on edge a bit, especially after seeing a classmate or two produce mini explosions that led to a disgruntled instructor!

I actually inked the colorful mixture image in both Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo (SU!), but it doesn’t show up as well in the photo as it does in real life.  I added Crystal Effects over the top of it to give it a little shine.  I added the tiny gemstones for good measure and rounded one corner for a little added interest.

I hope you’ll join us for the FLAME challenge this week!  I can’t wait to see what our participants come up with for this one!  It’s funny how one word can take on so many different meanings to so many people!  Love it!

Just be sure and link up your creation/s on the challenge blog by Sunday at 4 p.m. (CST)!

Take some time to visit the blogs of the rest of the design team and this week’s guest designer!  They’d love to hear from you!

Very clever, Melissa. Your beaker is colored so brilliantly and the flame and the bling and the corner … mwah! You BROUGHT it! Now if you could only sell that potion …!

Ugh, Chemistry! I was actually one of those students that caused a mini explosion (my lab partner mixed up the chemicals, it wasn't my fault, I swear!!! LOL) Yup, my teacher was NOT happy. Go figure, I married a Physics teacher…
I love your interpretation of FLAME, so creative! And the flame coming out of the beaker…brilliant!

fabulous card, melissa… while the melon mambo might not show in the photo it definitely helps to create the look of a mixture of different chemicals. and i love the addition of the little gems!!

I'm so glad you guys nixed my idea of picking a new cue word because everyone has rocked it! The inking on the liquid in the beaker looks amazing – so much depth and movement – and the stamp you used for the flame is awesome. So so cool!

Melissa, your card and post brought a big smile to my face and the thought, “She is BRILIANT!” Coming from a family of chemists (dad, sister, brother) and having taken a few chemistry classes myself, this made me chuckle! Your colors are awesome and the shine on the beaker makes it AMAZING! Thanks for such creative inspiration…every week!

Your take on the cue is so creative! Brings back memories of chem class. And not good ones as I confess to inadvertently causing a little explosion in class one day:(. I think Mr Adams had flames coming out of him!

Ooo thats such a cute card!! Where is the sentiment from? Brought back so many memories of disastrous chemistry labs 🙂

Hi Luv, this is the perfect CAS for the cue theme. So sweetly creative. We are still in the chill here in Southern California, looking for warmer weather by the end of the week. Thanks for your sweet visit and lovely luv.
