Cupcakes for Breakfast
Happy Monday! I didn’t get around to stamping until late in the afternoon today as I’m still fighting whatever bug got ahold of me over the weekend and I had all three children home due to the holiday.
I’ve been wanting to make a cupcake card lately. What got me thinking about cupcakes was when my boys requested we make white cupcakes with frosting and valentine sprinkles last week. We did that and then one morning my oldest DS asked me if he could have a cupcake for breakfast! Of course not…well, actually, I decided to shake aside the perfectionist mother in me and thought, “Oh, why not?! Let’s break a rule for a change!” I did, however, make him eat a healthy breakfast before he got the cupcake. 🙂
This week’s Clean & Simple card challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers was to “create your own background.” I sat and mulled this one over for a while and then decided to just wing it. I grabbed a couple scrap pieces of paper, wadded them up and then dabbed each one on a stamp pad (one color for each piece of paper) and blotted my white cardstock to create a mottled look. I then embossed two thirds of the front of the card and added color to the dots with my blender pen and another ink pad.
Supplies:
Stamps – Paper Trey (Cupcake Collection sentiment), SU (Out of the Box)
Ink – SU Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight
Paper – Paper Trey white, SU Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight cardstocks
Accessories – Nestabilities, SU circle punch, pink gemstones, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Stickles
Coloring – blender pen

Yipppee, glad you got some creative time! I'm just now finishing up a little project too. Felt so good to get my fingers inky and painty!
