It seems like gold accents are popping up everywhere these days and I am liking what I see of the trend on handmade cards lately!  I was able to try my hand at making one because this week’s cue word challenge over at CASology is GOLD!

I happened to remember (something that doesn’t happen very frequently these days) a mosaic Stampin’ Up! set I have in my stash and it dawned on me that my metallic gold ink might just be what I needed to make a card for the challenge!  I’d looked through my embossing powders and spritz sprays already with no luck and the spool of gold cord I came across just didn’t do it for me!  Thank goodness for light bulb moments!

Stamps:  SU (Mosaic), Paper Trey (sentiment)
Paper:  Paper Trey cardstock (white), SU cardstock (Basic Black)
Ink:  Encore (Gold), Memento (Tuxedo Black)
Accessories:  SU Mosaic punch, black gemstones, foam dots

Don’t forget to spend a little time visiting the rest of the design team members’ blogs as well as this week’s guest designer’s blog for lots of beautiful inspiration!  It’s always interesting to see what the weekly cue words trigger in creative minds!  I can’t wait!  Be sure and link up your own creation on the challenge blog by Sunday at 4 p.m. (CDT) for your chance to win a little prize package!  CASology is celebrating its one year anniversary this week!

The boys survived their first day of swimming lessons.  DS1 seems resigned to going now.  DS2 tried so hard to be brave, but I noticed he was quietly shedding a few tears once he was in the water.  He is the sensitive, shy one, so I was wondering if that might happen!  Afterward, he stated he would rather not go again!  Only eight more days!  I’m thankful that they put the two of them in the same group this time around.  That, in itself, should help him and DS1 is so good about having him along, taking him under his wing.
Have a terrific Tuesday!

Your gold inked images are amazing! I tried gold ink and it just didn't give that golden look! You've got it all figured out!

That's just gold ink? It looks awesome! So pretty and elegant! Good luck with the swimming – soon they'll be like little fish and they'll be so glad that you 'made' them learn!

My youngest DD who is almost 11 has been asking for dance classes for a while. We finally relented and took her for her first class last night. She came out part way through the session in tears. I had to pep talk her into going back into the class. She had come to grips with going back tonight and now she's sick. 🙁 It is so hard to know what to do in these situations-when to push and when to let them pull out. Our kids swim competitively and this DD wants to quit…looks like she might be able to both as DH says she's a really good swimmer.
On the card side of things 😉 I love the look of the gold against the black and the clean layout!

Gorgeous – I love the gold on the black and the crisp white background. Everything truly pops even more so with the addition of your layout and the golden rule of threes.

Hope swimming is getting better for your children, especially your youngest!
