Grateful
Forty. My big brother turned forty this past weekend! I remember when my parents turned forty and I thought it was so far off in the future that I had a great amount of fun joining in the jokes and mayhem of a typical fortieth birthday bash! They say forty is the new thirty and I’m not going to object to that way of thinking! You’re only as old as you feel, after all. For some reason, that doesn’t ease the realization that I’m next.
I decided to make a soft, comforting card using a koala bear image from Prickley Pear Stamps. I’ve had it for a while now, waiting for the opportunity to use it. This week’s sketch over at Card Patterns was perfect! I trimmed the decorative paper to the size of the card front, added the image on a layered piece, using white and grey cardstocks from SU and then embellished with baker’s twine, buttons and SU ribbon.
The sentiment is from Prickley Pear’s Oak & Maple Leaf Clear Set.

This is adorable, Melissa! I just love your design here and love how you used the stamps. Wonderful colors, too. I have so been crushing on gray lately! 🙂
Very nice! Sounds like a fun weekend! I refuse to let getting close to 40 bog me down. We're only as old as we feel and I plan to keep moving and stretching so I feel YOUNG and able!
Wonderful card, Melissa! Love the soft colors and super cute little Koala! Simply adorable!!!
Fantastic!!! I know your brother will really like this too. Cute image and love that DP you used with it.

Oh Melissa, what cute simple yet fantastic card! Love everything in it.
Thanks for playing along with us at Card Patterns.
Ain't that the truth. I will have to admit it was a bit of a shock to me to see your brother standing there with that cake that said 40. How does it happen so quickly??!! Cheers to 40 being the new 30. I've liked my 30s afterall. 🙂
I love this card, I love it's subtle colors, the sweet face of the koala, just everything about it.
