Halloween Simplicity
Stamps: Prickley Pear (Bat clear set – to be in the store soon) |
I cut strips from three coordinating papers in three different colors and aligned them on a piece of black cardstock. The black bat I cut out using the bat die that will soon be in the store! I then sprayed it lightly with some sheer shimmer spritz to give it a little shine, waited for it to dry and added two small purple gemstones for eyes. I adhered it to the colored panel using a foam dot to pop it up a little. I finished things off by stamping the sentiment and rounding the two lower corners.
I hope your week is off to a good start! Mine has a note of sadness to it as my dear grandfather passed away on Saturday and his funeral is tomorrow. He was such a wonderful example to his family and I am so grateful to have known him! He and Grandma babysat our oldest son for a couple years when they were able and I know DS1’s little heart is a bit heavy too. Grandma passed away a couple years ago, but DS1 was just a bit too young then to fully grasp the finality of things at that time. Amazing what a couple more years adds to a child’s understanding of life. For me, I’ve worked through the initial feelings of loss and the flood of memories that comes. Tomorrow, I need to say my final goodbyes and hug those happy memories that I have close to my heart!

You and your family are in my prayers. My sons were just old enough to realize what happened when their grandma, a daily presence in their lives, passed away unexpectedly. The loss simply can't be explained and they just aren't old enough to understand that death isn't the end.
Melissa, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your grandfather. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts. Big hugs, friend!
