It’s time for a new cue word challenge over at CASology!  This week’s cue word makes my CAS heart very happy.  There is nothing quite as simple as a silhouette!

I have a few silhouette images in my stash, but sometimes I wish I had many more!  Simple is good, though, and I just tell myself that a handful is much better than overflowing drawers containing things rarely used.  Oh wait!  I have drawers like that.  Oops.

It’s funny how card designs evolve for me.  The card I’m sharing today is not at all what I’d originally had in mind.  Not even close.  Many times I look through my stash of stamp images looking for something that catches my eye.  I then think about colors (or the lack thereof) that I feel like working with at that moment.  From there, it’s all about playing.  You probably thought I was going to go into some big, long explanation of my design process, didn’t you?  When it comes to designing cards, I’m kind of like those bakers who make their savory dishes without a recipe.  I leave technical plans and processes to my DH as he has the mind for that kind of thing.  Me?  I just go with whatever creative flow is actually flowing for the day and hope for the best.

So here you go…my go-with-the-flow card for the day!

I masked the colored strip, sponging it with blue and green inks.  I then stamped the silhouette image and sentiment.  A one layer card was the end result.  No embellishments needed.

I hope you’ll take some time to play along over at CASology this week!  Be sure and visit the design team members’ blogs as well as this week’s guest designer’s blog for more inspiration!  Then, be sure and link up your creation on the challenge blog by Sunday at 4:00 p.m. (CDT)!

Fabulous card Melissa, know what you mean about a card not ending up how you planned it.

It's pretty rare that what I first see in my mind is what ends up on my card. Love that creative evolution! And I love your card. The inked panel is gorgeous – it has so much texture to it!
