Look Up!
Okay, I know this may just have your eyeballs rolling that direction wondering what you’re going to come up with for such a tiny word, but this little word has lots of possibilities! For me, I found myself thinking about the sky, especially the night sky and all that it possesses!
Stamps: Taylored Expressions (From My Window) Paper: Paper Trey cardstock (white) Ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black) Accessories: Taylored Expressions die (Arched Window), Copic Spica pen (yellow), foam dots |
I remember looking up into the sky whenever I was missing someone as a girl, thinking that they were seeing some of the very same stars and moon that I was looking at! I don’t know why that was such a comfort to me, but it was.
For my UP creation, I used a window die from Taylored Expressions that coordinates with several window scenes in one of their stamp sets. I also used one of the simple sentiments from the same set. Although the photo doesn’t show it very well, the moon is colored with a glittery, yellow Spica pen to add a little color and interest to the otherwise black and white card design.
I hope you’ll take a peek at what the rest of the design team and this week’s guest designer have created! They really are creative geniuses and I feel so fortunate to have them as part of my team each week at CASology!
Don’t forget to link up your own UP creation by Sunday at 4:00 p.m. (CDT)!

A lovely thought and a great word! Can't wait to play along. Your night sky is awesome!
This is beautiful, Melissa. There's a sense of comfort in your card. Really like this. Bev
This reminds me of my Mother in Law, who always tells my kids that when she looks at the moon, she thinks of them, looking at the same moon. Lovely and perfectly CAS!
This is such a pretty card! I love the arched window and lovely scene you created with your stamp…Thank you so much for your inspiration!
Oh, so sweet, Melissa! I think a night sky full of stars and a bright moon is a universal happy sight. We sent Dan away to camp in northern MN the summer he was 15 and no one would hire him for a summer job until he was 16. In those days (maybe even today on purpose) there were no phones, no computers, no emails, just old-fashioned letters that took forever to receive. But every night he knew and I knew we were connected by the same moon. It's true for any loved ones separated, especially in the military, I imagine. Thanks for the memories!
What a lovely card Melissa, a lovely thought too. That TE window is such a great die.
Great card. I have that stamp set and die but haven't busted it out yet! I, too, have had that thought looking out at the night sky as well!
love your little window scene, Melissa!!
What a fabulous interpretation of UP! Love how you think 🙂
I wasn't sure if you saw my “Thank You so such for choosing my card” comment on the CASology blog, so I wanted to stop by to make sure that you know how truly thrilled and excited I was! You are one of my absolute favorite designers, so needless to say, I feel honoured that you chose my card.
…..oh yeah, I'm grinnin' from ear to ear 🙂
Love the little window scene, Melissa!
Love your black stary sky through the white window frame!
Melissa, this card is so serene and peaceful…it definitely reminds me of that comforting feeling when you look up at the night sky and know that you and your loved ones are all blanketed by the same sky. Just perfectly lovely, Melissa!
This is beautiful Melissa! Lovely, crisp design~
Love your night sky with the shooting star. Great take on up. x
Love this night view out of the window ~ a fantastic take on the cue word!
Such a sweet card! I love the touch of yellow from the moon.
I feel the same when looking at the moon and stars when I miss someone. Years ago I wrote a poem to that effect and my friend Lauren Pellegrino turned it into an awesome song.
