Pink Shock
Yesterday, we went in for the usual ultrasound and, low and behold, after three boys we were told we should start planning for a little pink in our house! Honestly, I went into a bit of shock. I’d headed over to the appointment expecting to be told we would be adding another boy again, but no! As you can well imagine, this is going to cause a bit of a shift in our family dynamics (after I get used to the idea)! I haven’t felt the urge to go out and start shopping for pink things. Yet. I keep thinking, “It’s really a girl!” over and over.
Today, I’ve started making a to do list for things that will need a little adjusting in preparation for her arrival, including sorting through storage containers of baby clothes and a little painting over some rather dark blue on the wall of the nursery once I can throw the windows open wide. Grey will be the new color!
I realized that I really don’t do pink very well at all. I have very little of it in my wardrobe, preferring blues, neutrals, plum, orange for a little kick and the occasional touch of green. I realized, too, that I don’t really use pink much in my card making either, when given the choice! I challenged myself this afternoon to make a totally girly card using pink, but I’m not so sure I succeeded…
I’ll keep practicing.

Aaaaw! How very exciting, Melissa! Congratulations! She will be such a sweet little addition to your already, gorgeous family.
Oh Melissa, huge congratulations! I'm with you on the pink, it's not my colour of choice (two sons, no daughters), but you're sure going to have plenty of time getting used to it!
Congratulations on your exciting news!
Congratulations to you all!
Such absolutely wonderful news! I hope you are feeling fabulous and I think your pink card looks wonderful! xoxo
How exciting and what a wonderful blessing Melissa! So happy for you and your family. Three big brothers and a daddy, just wait till she starts dating!!1 Sweet little baby girl card too 😉
Congratulations to you and your family, Melissa. What sweet news; so happy for you all. I foresee mommy and daughter card making in the future! And your baby card is definitely girl, but not “girly”. Nope, no froo-froo there. It's beautifully CAS. Bev
Melissa, best wishes to you and your beautiful growing family! Three beautiful boys, I can only imagine how beautiful your daughter will be! (If it makes you feel any better, my first daughter never liked pink, and my secnd daughter adored purple!) Your card is totally sweet…doesn't look to me like you need any practice!
Oh Melissa!! What wonderful news to share! I am so happy for you and all of your boys!! She will be cherished for sure!!!
Hugs!
Lesley
What wonderful news for you all, I'm sure that having a daughter will take some getting used to after having three boys but what fun to have a little female company in a house full of boys! Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy….when is the happy event due?
Sally
Congratulations!! That little girl will be so lucky having three wonderful big brothers to look out for her!!
Somewhere between Aug. 14-20! 🙂
Congratulations! And little girls don't have to be covered in pink. Just throw the hand me downs on and tie a cordinating ribbon on it somewhere! The good thing is that all your boys keep their “place” in the family because your current baby will still be your baby boy and they all get to be big brothers to their little sister.
Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations!!!! I tell you what, if she resembles your boys in the least she is going to be one adorable little princess! Oh' happy news!!!
congratulations! I am with you on pink, but there are so many other fun girly colors like lavender and turquoise 🙂 I be the boys will fawn all over her.
Congratulations, Melissa! Girls are so much fun and they don't always wear pink! What a beautiful family you have!
Congratulations, Melissa…such wonderful news! You have such 'beautiful' little boys…honestly, I can't wait to see a photo of them with their new baby sister (Well, when she gets here!).
I love your pretty card, too…I don't think you'll have any trouble getting accustomed to the color 'pink'!
