Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Christmas
I haven’t played along in many challenges the last few years, but decided to go see what is happening on Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge today. Turns out, it’s a Christmas/Winter/Festive theme. I felt game for that!
I found some sweet gingerbread cookie images to create a simple, festive holiday design.
I stamped a simple bold line image across the card base to anchor the design elements. Three gingerbread cookies were stamped, die cut and colored with Copic markers before being popped up in a row with foam adhesive. The simple sentiment was stamped and a little touch of sparkle was added to the white portions of the Santa hat.
This particular card is part of a boxed set I am selling for a local preschool’s fundraiser. It is a privately funded school, so it feels good to support them using my crafting skills. So many local businesses are struggling this year and I want to remember to support those I can.
We’re all likely thinking about the holidays a little differently this year. We plan to have a cozy Thanksgiving as a family of six in our own home next week and I’m okay with that. Yes, it’s different. No, it’s not exactly what we would have chosen. However, maybe it’s exactly what we need. Isn’t that how holiday gifts sometimes present themselves? I’m going to try to view this pandemic as a gift (I know. Crazy, right?). Yes, it’s quite different. No, it’s not exactly what I would have chosen if given a choice, but by golly, maybe it’s exactly what I need. I’m likely learning life lessons and things about myself that I otherwise would never have given thought to. I’m also learning that those around me are amazing human beings. So amazing. And I’m grateful.
Wishing you all the best this holiday season,
